Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hello, Stella. Welcome to Inherited. How are you? Hello.
I'm really good. It's a very exciting opportunity to have a chat with you ladies.
Yeah, we have all adored watching the love story between you and Philip play out on this year's season of Maths. Congratulations on all of the success. We'll get into it today. But before we get there, I want to rewind back to the start to when you first moved to Australia from Lithuania. You told our producers that your relic is your Australian citizenship certificate.
So you booked a one-way ticket and moved to Australia. Was it nine years ago? September is going to be 10 year anniversary. Wow. How do you feel? I mean, yeah, on your 10 year anniversary.
Ideally in the ideal world, I would have loved to have a little family by now. Um, unfortunately, you know, life took a longer time to, to get there, but I think getting to be partnered with Philip and obviously having the ending of what had happened, I think it really kind of sealed the 10 year thing for me. And, um, Good things take time, you know?
They do. Before you moved over to Australia, can you take me back to your earliest memories of growing up in Lithuania with your loved ones? What was it like?
Look, I, yeah, Lithuania was, I do have very beautiful memories there and I do have not so beautiful memories there. So it's kind of like...

Chapter 2: How did Stella Mickunaite's journey to Australia begin?
you hold two truths at the same time. You hold two emotions at the same time. Um, so my early childhood would be, would be going to the grannies and, you know, she would be growing her old veggies and, and animals. And I grew up on such organic foods and just organic life. You know, it's like what you, what you plant is what you reap at the end of the season, you know?
And obviously that taught me beautiful, beautiful values about heart work and, um, just you know being good good human um and they're also parts of you know having a broken family and you know having to experience mom and dad splitting up at the early age mom unfortunately did choose the path of a little bit of um addiction and and that was obviously very hard to watch and yeah
Because you have two sisters as well, is that right? You grew up with two sisters, yeah. Yeah, I do have two half sisters.
So do I. Yeah, so one sister came out into my life when I was 12 and the other sister came into my life when I think I was 21 or 22. So it's like you are sisters, you do have that like care but there's a little bit of lack of connection unfortunately because you didn't grow up at the same time. And I only wish, you know, that things would have been different at the end of the day.
But, you know, not having that sibling relationship, but still needing to care for someone actually, you know, made me to grow up quite early.
So what did your life look like right before you moved? And what was the catalyst to moving to Australia? You were in your early 20s. What were you doing then in Lithuania? And yeah, do you remember the day that you decided, I'm going to do this, I'm going to book the ticket?
Okay, so the day I was, yeah, in my early 20s, I had a beautiful long-term relationship for five years and my relationship broke down at the age of 21. And again, right, it's a fertile soil. As I say, always a breakup. Don't fear of a breakup. If it's not meant to be, not meant to be, release, let go, cut out and use that energy to do something good with it. So I was in my single era.
I was actually the third year of university. I was studying Bachelor of Biology at the time. And I went to a festival. And at the festival, I met this guy. And he's like, oh, I live in Sydney. And I'm like, in my mind, I was so narrow-minded that for me, Sydney sounded like alien planet. I swear to God. I was like, I can't, like, I don't believe you. He's like, yeah, you have a look.
You know, he showed me photos. And my mind was like, what? It's like, oh, that's possible. Yeah. And so he planted that seed, right?

Chapter 3: What challenges did Stella face when settling in Australia?
There was at-home visits and I was just... Again, I felt like I've given all, I've shown all that I could. Like I tried to integrate him in my life because I knew that initially I straight away said moving from Sydney, it's not going to happen because I share a dog with my ex-partner and I'm not leaving a dog behind.
I also build life here and it took me so long to actually feel settled in a place and I'm not going to sacrifice that for anyone. So that was my straightaway boundary that these are the rules to be with me, unfortunately or fortunately at the end of the day.
And I was very thankful that I had that inner strength to actually stand on my own two feet and actually openly communicate that because otherwise you don't know what's going to happen. Long story short, home visits and, you know, the very infamous he's 70% and I'm 100% and, you know, la, la, la.
And yeah, I remember we were, you know, they asked us to sit down and film a conversation and I just stood up and left. I was like, I can't do this. I'm too emotional and I'm too, you know, I needed a little bit of, time and space and all of that.
So yeah, it was, it was. We have to make sacrifices in life and in love and having that strength to be able to say to Philip, hey, this is my life and I'm not going to compromise on anything at the risk of maybe losing him. Like that is really strong. Like, yeah, so admirable.
You know how I see it? The person who is meant for me will understand what I had to go through to be here. So the person who is meant for me will never interfere with that and he will see the hard work that had to go into it.
Was there a moment when you had that conversation about him definitely moving to Sydney and like starting your life together that stands out?
It was like post-building when we did like a little, after the home visits, we did a restaurant session where I was wearing these orange earrings. And after that conversation, uh, he, I finished my voxie. He finished his voxie and he came out to me and he said, I realized what it is and why I was like giving this off vibe because I was like, I'm feeling the off vibe.
And he's like, nah, everything's fine. And I'm like, I know it's not like, I know in my gut, I know it's not anyway. So he finished the chat and he came in and he said like, I know what it is. I, I, I was scared to openly, you know,

Chapter 4: What was Stella's experience like on Married at First Sight?
Yes. What did your loved ones back home make of the engagement too?
Look, hard to even describe. Like my granny was like, yes, finally. Been waiting for this day, yeah. She's been waiting for this day since I finished uni. She's like, okay, next thing's for you to get married and have babies. Yeah. So, yeah, she was like, okay, finally. Yeah.
Yeah, towards the end of the season, a picture of you generated by AI circulated the internet. What did you make of that? You were pictured pregnant.
Yeah, there is one famous photo of us picking up chicken shop food and me being in a code furry and, yeah, apparently my bum belly was out. Look, whatever, let's keep manifesting it.
Yeah. You see a future with children with Philip?
Look, there are days where I was like, yep, I want it. I want it now. Yeah. And there are days, oh, my God, I don't know. Do I want kids? So it's like, well, you know, there's a little bit of I think for us both, it's very, very important to actually have a. a base, you know, because he's only having his mum and dad in Australia. I don't have family here.
And, you know, for a child to be raised, it takes a village, and I truly believe in that. So creating that solid foundation and community around us, I think it is very important. 100%.
I agree. Well, Stella, thank you so much for coming on Inherited. I, yeah, I'm so happy for you. All of Australia is, everyone that has watched Maths this season, you went on the show for the right reasons and you've left with such a beautiful relationship. So honestly, all the best. We always finish every episode with one final question and it's about the legacy that you hope to leave behind.
It's what do you intend on passing on and who are you passing it on to?

Chapter 5: How has Stella's upbringing influenced her view on love?
Lucky for you, we recorded a special episode deep diving the night. Our stylish hosts, Mads, Jo and Rhi, share the stories and designers behind their standout looks, the beauty and fashion trends that reign supreme, bleached brows, nude dressing, air makeup, and was this year's Met Gala actually the nippo baby coronation? We've got a little snippet to play for you.
This year was the Nepo baby coronation.
Yes.
It was officially the rollout of Blue Ivy, Sunday Rose. It is the handing over of the baton from their parents. They're very, very famous parents who were both on the board. So Beyonce and Nicole Kidman, which you said up top, Jo. I actually saw Sunday Rose walk first and I went, hang on, doesn't the Met Gala have an age limit? Yes. It did, historically.
You had to be 18 plus to attend the Met Gala. And Sunday Rose is 17. Something tells me Blue is 14. Is she? Yep. So they have vetoed that rule this year.
I think if you're sitting on the committee, no rules apply. No rules apply. If you guys want to tune into the episode in full, just search Stylish. That's S-T-Y-L-E-I-S-H on your favorite podcast app. You're going to love it.
