Then that's everything. They have so much space to run around. This feels a lot like where my wife grew up. We're a lot closer to home, so we couldn't be happier. Where did your wife grow up? She grew up in New Jersey, like Sussex County, like northern New Jersey. Okay. So this feels very similar.
When people hear New Jersey or New York, they're not familiar with the fact that there's trees and stuff like that.
I know. I know. They think of just like the interstates, like right there or around like Newark or something. Yes, exactly. And I grew up just outside of Toronto. So like this feels like half an hour or like an hour away where we'd go to like cottages or something like that. We're loving life here. Awesome. You're lucky to be one of those people who like grew up in your hometown. You still live there.
Well, yeah. I mean, that's where my family is. And I can't imagine, you know, especially when we had four kids moving. There was a time where my wife and I talked about moving to Orlando.

And then that's when all the hurricanes came through. So you'll know how far back that was. It was like maybe 05, 04. I'm not sure. And we were like, eh, we'll just stay here. And that was because TNA was based there? Yes, exactly. And so I didn't have to fly every week to go to TNA. I could just, well, we lived there. But it was a blessing in disguise because we needed our family. You know, with just having more kids, you know, we needed that help. You're a family of six. It's really cool.

having a big family. It really is where everybody gets together and we go on vacations together. Like this is our family thing. We get away, we get to the beach and hang out and, you know, it's fun. So how's retirement treating you? Oh, wow. You know, it's funny. Cause I think I'm gone a little bit more than I was when I was actually working. Really? Yeah. I don't, I don't know how that works, but to get the chance to go down to the performance center and work with those, uh, men and women down there, it's, it's pretty awesome. It scratches that itch, you know, um, And being involved with Evolve is awesome. I've produced a couple matches, which I didn't think I'd enjoy, but I love it. You know, and I've heard this is how it all starts, is that, yeah, you start producing.
The next thing you know, you get heavily involved with certain kind of things. But it's really cool to see working with the young talent and the light bulb going off and like, oh, Oh wow. And I'm trying to give my moves away. Like, Hey, try this, try this, try this, try this. I'm not going to use it anymore. You know, kind of thing. I'm having fun.
How long had you been thinking about hanging them up and retiring?
Well, um, I was going to retire before the Royal rumble at WrestleMania, the preview, but I just come back from my foot injury and just didn't seem right. Like I was feeling kind of good. Actually, once I got my foot back in order, I was like, man, and there was some kind of like, man, I don't know. I don't know. And I'm sure money was a thing because I didn't ask for more money. I just wanted to extend it. But then again, They, they did right by me and, and, you know, paying me well. And so I know that was an issue, but then we finally got that in order and I was like, all right, here we go. And I'm not saying I didn't get weird. near the end of knowing I was going to retire or leave WWE. I got weird, dude.
