PRIS VAN
It's inside with Chris and B
Chris Van Vliet 0:19
You bring such big energy. It's always so good to see you.
Uhaa Nation 0:22
I love it. Thank you. Thank you. It's just uh that's that's me ever since I was a young man. But it's funny 'cause when I was a kid I was just naturally shy. Like And uh Growing up I saw my mom smile a lot. Uh so I think it just kinda naturally rubbed up on rubbed off on me.
Chris Van Vliet 0:38
There's something about giving a smile to somebody.
Uhaa Nation 0:40
There is. I think it it changes their day, right? You never know what they're going through. A smile could change somebody's uh Their whole situation, right? You know, and uh it's funny because I used to get asked a lot, you know, at the beginning of my career. So when I'd come out, I was just told to smile. Just like just smile. Smile. Uh when I got on got day when I debuted on Raw. And the only thing people would say is that is something about my smile. It was like guys Good in the ring and knew this, but all he does is smile. And uh I get asked a lot, like, why do you smile so much? And I I felt like I had to have an answer for it. And I didn't really there was just no answer. You know, it was one I was being told to smile and it was just naturally what I do a lot.
Uhaa Nation 1:22
But there was Really like the reason. What a crazy question to
Chris Van Vliet 1:26
ask. Like, why do you smile so much? I don't know. I'm happy. I'm
Uhaa Nation 1:29
happy. You know, so I feel like I end up just making up stuff. Like, ah, this is why I smile. But it's like uh as I got older, I realized that like If you don't have an answer for something. It's okay just to, you know, say there's just no answer for it. There's no reason for it. That's a huge huge lesson to learn. Right. Like
Chris Van Vliet 1:45
sometimes the answer is just yes. Yep. Or no. That's
Uhaa Nation 1:49
simple as that.
Chris Van Vliet 1:50
I don't know.
Uhaa Nation 1:51
Yeah. Facts.
Chris Van Vliet 1:52
Yeah.
Uhaa Nation 1:53
And it was uh Just trying to figure out like, okay, uh Why do I have to explain something? Or why am I trying to find a reason? to explain something that I just naturally do. Yeah.
Chris Van Vliet 2:05
I don't
Uhaa Nation 2:06
I'm
Chris Van Vliet 2:06
just naturally happy. But think of that idea of giving someone a smile who may not get one today. Yeah. An Uber driver or someone working at the grocery store, someone working at retail and having a terrible day. And that little thing that for you, it's moving a few muscles in your face. Can change the whole trajectory of the day. Simple.
Uhaa Nation 2:25
And and I see it every day too when I go to, like you said, a grocery store or something and you just like carry that energy with you into the To the line. You know, this person's like and I worked at Dollar Tree for a while before wrestling, so I know what it's like standing out there, you know, just scanning I worked in retail for years. I know what you mean. Oh, scanning it scanning items and like everyone expects you to be A certain way, right? And When you have somebody approach you uh about something that's outside of that job that you're doing. You know it it The thought doesn't even come to your head, like So like for me when I go to You know, anyone essentially. It's just like you walk to the airport up to the gate.
Uhaa Nation 3:02
I don't know what these people are dealing with, you know. So my Instinct isn't to walk up them with, ah, I'm late. My flight is cancelled. Da da da. Whatever it is. It's, you know, just uh Treat them how you'd want to be treated.
Chris Van Vliet 3:14
I saw a quick little video on Instagram not that long ago that changed my whole perspective. It was talk to people like you've known them your whole life. Yep. I like that. And it's so true. So yeah, for
Uhaa Nation 3:26
sure.
Chris Van Vliet 3:26
Like if if that cashier was your aunt or uncle. Yeah. You'd be talking to them a very different way.
Uhaa Nation 3:33
Completely different way. And for me I think having kids too has helped me uh Kind of. not it hasn't kind of helped, but it's helped me really change the way I I look at certain things, especially like that because you know success I'm watching. They're watching and it's just like Anything that you do, they soak up, they mirror. You know, it's we walk to the store and my it's like my dad was an asshole to this guy, you know, it's it's uh They start to think it's okay. Exactly. And you don't wanna raise kids like that, right? So uh how old are your kids?
