Later, journalists uncovered that Lucian had purchased a strange old book in 1957 from a Memphis antiquarian, rumored to teach rituals that could be hidden inside music.On June 4, 1964, Lucian stopped singing mid-chorus during a live performance, turned away from the crowd, and calmly walked off stage.
