I just went to We before we recorded this. Yeah. And I opened my phone and the first thing that I see is a tweet from Donald Trump. Now because this man is tweeting ā every five seconds something really insane or they're doing insane things or threatening insane things, threatening to what do they say? Completely wipe out civilization. That was last week.
Then, of course, he chickened out, which is a good thing, obviously, but don't threaten that. That's actually kind of like being in a relationship with someone and them saying I'm going to kill myself if you don't.

Chapter 2: What movies has Abbie seen lately and what are her thoughts?

He gets it and Leo doesn't. I don't want a Pope that thinks it's okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, okay? Just to be clear as well, We haven't done an episode on Iran. We need to get someone in to talk about it. But, again, every day there's something new. So it's hard to catch the right time because if we record something today and we release it. It could be miles out of date by tomorrow.

It's like what the fuck are you talking about? The way that Americans speak as well as though no other place in the world that I know of regularly uses phrases like soft on crime, tough on crime. Like they have this really intense police state. We do as well. But, again, the rhetoric I've never seen ā
a politician in Australia have a whole platform based on I'm tough on crime and then accusing other politicians of being weak on crime. Yeah, it's brought up for sure but Americans are really hyper-focused on military being tough on crime and borders and it is leaking into Australia but it's a very interesting ā it's all just sort of ā I don't know how to explain it. It's like figureheads.
It's not real. It isn't tangible.

Chapter 4: What challenges does Abbie face as a public figure?
It isn't. being tough or soft on crime, I mean the law is the law. Yeah. Rules are rules. And the person who's actually benefiting from people being soft on war crimes is you, Donald Trump. In the movie, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya are together. They're about to get married in like a week. It feels imminent. And they have dinner with their friends and it comes out that Zendaya has, when she was 15, planned a school shooting.
She didn't do it. She just got to the point of having a weapon and going to ā I guess she went to school with a weapon and was going to kill the other kids. This thing causes a huge moral dilemma for Robbie because he goes, well, can I marry someone that had planned to do this?
This also happens in a conversation at a dinner party where Robert Pattinson says the worst thing he ever did, because that's the context, they're confessing the worst thing they ever did, His was ā I don't know if it was a joke or not, but his was I cyberbullied someone. Yeah, and they like moved away. They moved away. So that's actual harm.
Her maid of honour said that she locked a mentally disabled child in a closet overnight in an abandoned RV. Yeah, and ran away. Ran away. Again, actual harm. Yeah. And then another man who is there who is ā It's the maid of honour's husband. Husband. He said that he used a girl as a human shield one time when they were getting attacked by a dog. That's the dilemma, right?
But it's an interesting conversation to have because would you leave your partner and call off the wedding if you found out that they planned to do a school shooting but they didn't? And the reason why they didn't was because they Someone else did a shooting on the day and Zendaya's character, age 15, kind of went, can't be bothered to do this. Not the right time.

Chapter 5: How does Abbie feel about fan interactions?

The situation that it is in the movie, all of those sort of points I'm like, I don't know if I would stay with them because it's ā she clearly hasn't really dealt with it and like no one knows about it. Like her family doesn't know. She just kind of moved on with her life and then got into like activism. Yes. Like she ends up getting into anti-gun activism at her school.
And then so the dad thinks like, oh, she threw my gun away because of this. But it's like, well, no, she was planning to take it to school. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and to me it's the thing of, like, oh, well, it doesn't seem like she's really actually dealt with this at all.
And then there's all these carry-ons where it's, like, well, why, like, Alana Himes, the maid of honour, and she sort of jokes about, like, you don't have any other friends. Yeah. You know, so there's just a bit more weirdness with the character where I'm like, okay, if I was in that situation, there would be like a few things clicking into place. Yeah. Where I'd go, hmm, okay. That's so true.
There are other factors. Also the fact that she... The bullying that she described isn't even that bad. She's like, yeah, I just hated everyone. I was bullied. And it's like she was pushed into a puddle one time. Well. And another time they said. This is an interesting part of the conversation as well because people are talking about how then her race is not really connected to the story at all.
You know, like it's not like she's getting bullied because she's black. Yeah. It's like. The character could have been played by anyone of any race and it would have been no consequence, which like partly, you know, there's good and bad things about that, you know. Like would you feel that it's more justified if she was being bullied by some little white supremacist kid? You know?
Is it fucked to say yes? Well, that's the thing. Like that sort of makes it more interesting to me. I don't think it's fully justified, just to be clear. I'm not going, yeah, that makes it worth it. But what you're saying where it's like the bullying doesn't seem that bad, I agree.

Chapter 6: What advice does Abbie give about getting an ADHD diagnosis?
At the end I was a little bit like, what was this all in service of? But also it was fun to think about and fun to talk about. Yeah, it was like a trolley problem. It was like, wait, would I instantly ā but see, then when I think about Adam I go ā No, I've got to get rid of that.

The next ask me anything is this. Do you ever plan on moving out of Sydney? If so, where would you like to live? Okay. Recently, I actually have been looking of moving out of Sydney to a more calming, relaxing place because I My threshold for being overstimulated, being people coming up and asking for photos and talking to me, it's just too much. And I don't mean this.
I think a lot of people who get photos get asked for photos more than me or get asked ā for, I don't know, they get people saying hello to them in public or whatever. I think there are people that get it much more than me that handle it better than me. But the reality is I'm neurodivergent. I get overstimulated.
I also like at the best of times, even before I had this, this job, I wouldn't go out past midnight. Like I'm, I'm really a Like shy, I get really exhausted really easily by people coming up and talking to me.
And the thing is, I'm just going to be fully honest because I feel like whenever I talk about this, people, I'm really scared that people are going to take it in a way that's like, well, you're ungrateful. You should love your fan. And I just need to be honest about it for a moment because it's getting to a point. Well, it's been at a point for years where it's,
impacts my mental health so badly that if a big incident happens, I'm fucked for days. And something happened on Friday that I was just so, I feel this disgusting invasion of privacy and invasion of my space. And I feel this really gross, um, uh,
inequality in the level of parasocial relationship when people are fans of mine or listeners of the podcast and they come up to me and they don't tell me they know who I am. I'm so fine with it and I can handle it.
