Controversial, edgy, maybe even dangerous. I am going to embark on our great SEC head coach ranking voyage of 2026 tonight. I've got a question about some dark horse teams in each conference. And we think we found four of them. Although I would think the concept of a dark horse is having more and more light shed on it by the year in the portal churn era. We're going to do some better or worse teams that, frankly, I was supposed to get to the other night, but we had to cut the show short because we were going long.
That's mainly on Jesse. All that, plus, at the end of the show. We had our best storm chase of the year Tuesday. Wednesday. Just some stuff happening with the show behind the scenes. It has to do with this upcoming season. Uh I think it's gonna be our best season ever. And a lot of uh a lot of wheels in motion right now, thanks to you guys. So you'll see in due time. When I can tell you, I will tell you. Here's what I can tell you right now. Bradley, here's your good endpoint. I hold in my hand, as best I can tell, a ranking of all the SEC head coaches, at least the top ten going into 2026. Now, the way you could do this is you could do it predictively. You could say, uh, these are the guys I think will be the best over the next three years, or you could do like, oh, I'm running my own university.
This is an order of the coaches I would hire. The order I would hire them in. But I didn't want to go that route. I just do uh criteria I value, pretty basic stuff, relative on-field performance, and talent acquisition. And then if there's like a tiebreaker, just the et cetera, just the wild card stuff that I happen to value, I just throw all that in a blender. I heavily yield towards recency. So, like if you did something in 2016 and 17 and you did something in 2014. And 25. I care a lot more about 24 and 25, all due respect to what you did 10 years ago. And frankly, most of these guys weren't head coaches 10 years ago anyway. That leads me to number one, a guy who became a head coach about a decade or so ago.
Kirby Smart is the number one head coach in the SEC. Pretty cut and dry here. Back-to-back SEC champs. He was in the game three years ago. There is no current head coach in the SEC that has beaten that guy in Atlanta.
