here's JP. All right, welcome in to a Victory Monday edition of the JP Peterson show. And uh we got, oh my lord, so much to get to and College football, what's going on with that? Alex Golish is now the new head coach at Auburn. G so many thoughts on all these college coaching situations. Florida State. Florida has hired a new coach. The calendar, Lane Kiffin. Woof. And we got lots to get to with the bucks yesterday. A W, which is what you needed. But it certainly uh was not a Rembrandt, to be sure. So we'll get into some of the things that happened yesterday. Uh some fun stuff as well. Uh we got the lightning continuing a roll and just so many storylines to get to. Nick Eddis from on three sports joins us here.
You're on three folks, breaking news all over this weekend in college sports. Um, I I cannot remember a weekend where there's been bigger like Just ridiculous stories and what what are gonna be historic storylines moving forward. Can you?
Uh, I can't either. Um, and it's one of those things where we've had all these sort of like stories building and building and building, and they sort of all just came to a head in about a six hour time frame. And sometimes it's like, I don't know if I would prefer I I put it this way, if I'm working and I'm in that like business, I probably would prefer for it to be a little spread out. But if you're just a viewer from the outside, it's like absolute chaos. Oh and by the way, it was happening during week thirteen of the NFL season. And I feel like in a way the NFL the NFL never takes a backseat to anybody. Never. Yes, sure. Thought yesterday they took a little bit of a backseat to college football. And I I probably shouldn't say this because this is a Tampa Bay show and it's a victory Monday and it's the first victory Monday in what about a month.
Yeah. I'm I'm like let yesterday I was like But I don't think I'm alone on this. That was a pretty just blah football game at Raymond James Stadium. It was a blah everything. I was more interested in what was going on in college football. I was like, oh the Bucks won, cool. You know. Yeah
I I'm sitting there in the press box and I'm looking at my Twitter feed just going, Holy Jesus Pete's what the hell's going on? And it's all just breaking down in real time. And this Lane Kiffin saga is you know, we're gonna talk about this in in our second half hour. It just it really is something that I I have strong opinions on. Uh uh and I think it's probably um I think Lane Kiffin is a very easy target, but I think he's the wrong target. And we'll get into all that. And You know, the uh the emotions that go into college football just fuel Um all the ridiculousness that is happening in this sport right now. And it doesn't need to be this way. It really doesn't. But greed usually is the driver, and it is in this case.
And we gotta fix it. We gotta fix it 'cause our sport of college football is just It's it's completely untenable right now. And what we're doing to fan bases is souring them tremendously. And it doesn't have to happen. It just needs a little bit of leadership to fix this. And we'll see if they have the balls to do it. And so far in the history of the NCAA, the people that run the sports that uh run the sport, the coaches and the athletic directors and the commissioners have shown time and time again they don't give a shit about what this happens to the sport. They just want their money. They just want their money and they want to control the money. And they don't care about the players or anything else.
It's just about controlling the money. And that has to stop. That has to stop. So we'll get into that um as we go through. Uh Trey Watson's gonna join us who uh longtime uh college football player played in the pros as well, uh brother of Christian Watson, uh was a was a captain at Maryland and Illinois in college football. So he knows He's been through coaching changes. He's been through all these these things and only get an idea from a player standpoint where where he would be if he was sitting in that old miss.
