What is the opening introduction and premise of the episode?
This is Believe. One network, every topic, everywhere. Stand by to launch fan stream sports.
Let's start. Hello sports fans.
Welcome to Fans Dream Sports. Nothing. Nothing but pure sports. This is the JP Show. JP, it is so good to hear you back on the air. Stand by. Now, here's JP.
Oh, what an absolute effing gut punch. It's not how I wanted to start off our Monday morning here on the JP Peterson show, but uh That's the only thing I can think of, ladies and gentlemen. And I 'cause I don't know how was it, twelve hours later? It still hurts like hell after witnessing what was An epic game seven that will go down in lightning lore as uh one of the the greatest series that I've seen played in hockey. But when you lose like that, it is an absolute kick in the cojones. So yeah, we're gonna talk about it. We'll talk a lot about it today. Uh we got raised baseball to get to as well. We got stadium uh information and news to get to. We might even work in a little Buccaneers here. Some Orlando Magic, who also lose in a game seven.
Bad weekend uh for Tampa Bay. Um, hockey anyway. Uh baseball was great.
Why do the hosts describe the Lightning’s Game 7 loss as a gut‑punch and what emotions does it spark?
Another sweep. Uh good morning to you. Nick Gennis, how are you, my friend?
Um all the emotions this morning. I'm sad. I'm angry. I am uh unfortunately I know how this we know how this feeling is for now four years in a row. As you mentioned, the the magic started it, you know, blowing a three one lead and I'm like, All right, lightning, don't let me down. Don't let me down. They let me down. They let us all down. They let us all down. So it's not a good Not for lack of effort. Not not for lack of effort. This wasn't this wasn't uh this wasn't game five. Nope. It was not that. It wasn't game five, but uh the results are all that matter at this time of the year. The lightning did not get it done.
They did not. Uh Eric Erlington's gonna join us at eleven o'clock, so we'll get his expertise in covering this uh and lean on his historical perspective because now the conversation switches to what's next? What's next for the Tampa Bay Lightning? Are there going to be major changes? There's gonna be major changes next year for sure. Because Ownership changes. Uh, we don't expect anything monumental out of that, but you never know until it happens. You never know until it happens, so Uh interesting times for the Tampa Bay Lightning, no doubt about it. And for their fans. I really, really feel for the fans. Uh Boltz Nation is hurting and um they've paid a lot of money for playoff tickets over the last few years and not seen a whole lot of success.
Oh yeah. I I saw the uh I saw what tickets we're going for yesterday on the resale market. 1800 bucks for lower level tickets. To get in, you're talking 300 a 300 a pop just to sit up top.
That's because it's it's the best entertainment in sports for mi for my money. It's a yeah live.
And it's game seven. This is what you it's what you live for is a game
seven. And it had everything. The hype machine was working overtime. We had um the Lightning Vision folks did a great um Uh their videos were fantastic once again. Um just it would do such a great job hyping up the crowd. I thought the crowd was great yesterday. Yeah, way too many red jerseys, but whatever. Um I thought the crowd was was fantastic. They were into it. And the team played great. They played absolutely fantastic hockey. Will you hold a team without a shot for what was it? Twenty almost twenty-eight minutes, twenty-six minutes and fifty-seven seconds. Yeah. I mean, that's insane. And lose the game? Nine shots. I don't think there's ever been a game seven where you held a team denied shots and lost.
Well they they said it was the
fewest shots to ever end up winning a playoff game. A playoff game. In NHL history. History. Not just a game seven, NHL history. Yep. Yep.
Uh it it's it's so it's tough to play much better than they played, especially against a very good Montreal team. I mean, let's first and foremost acknowledge that this is a very good Montreal team that's been on the come for quite some time, and they've now kind of aged into Uh being a very fast and dangerous team and we saw that.
