What makes Ish a standout coming‑of‑age debut and where does the review begin?
Oh, I'm going to introduce Epic, the Elvis Presley in concert film, which both you and I absolutely love. Give me a quote from my introduction from Simon Mayo, so I can say Simon Mayo from the UK says of Epic... It's directed by Baz Luhrmann. Well done. It's fantastic. It should be seen in a double bill with his other Elvis film, I think. It is funny. I keep thinking about seeing that movie the first time and just thinking there's so much of this. The fact that so much of that footage we hadn't seen before. And I talked to Sanj about it afterwards because, of course, Sanjeev is... You know, is a bigger Elvis fan than you or me and actually knows a lot of those people. And he thought it was absolutely knockout.
Anyway, so yeah, that's where I am. I'm in sunny France. I came in last night in the middle of the night. So just so that we can close our eyes and imagine where you are, because obviously that's what we need to do. Okay, so Manab is sort of like a mile up the road, and I am currently in the home of Lucy Darwin, who I've known for ages, who's kind of running the festival. And I knew Lucy way back when she was a film publicist, and then she became a film producer and now a film director. And so I'm sitting in this – I mean, honestly, it's ridiculously nice.
I'm sure it's very nice.
The surroundings – But that doesn't help us place where you are. It's nice that you're in a nice house. I'm in Provence. Okay. I'm in Provence.
