Bradley Shankar 1:08
I'm good. Thank you so much for having me. And let me just say, you are rocking that jacket. It looks awesome. Brad, give me a high five. Hell yeah. Starting the day off today.
Mike Mahardy 1:15
They said I'd never wear it again, Brad. Bought this for a cool $100 at BlizzCon, threw it in my closet, forgot about it for about 14 days. Here I am now wearing it. It looks good. Looks good. Brad, it's great to have you in the building. Of course, you have been on a previous Kind of Funny Games show before. I believe it was the Kind of Funny Games cast for Wolverine Review?
Bradley Shankar 1:36
Yeah. Yeah, Greg very kindly asked me to fill in to do the Gamescast for the Wolverine preview, and then I knew I was going to be in SF, so I just hit him up and said, because he kindly invited me back to the show, and the rest is history. That's great.
Mike Mahardy 1:51
Of course, Brad, for people that may not have watched that preview of Wolverine, they don't know who you are. Who are you? Where do you work? What do you do?
Bradley Shankar 1:58
Yeah, I work for Mobile Syrup. We're a tech publication in Toronto. I'm the gaming editor, so I kind of focus on games specifically from a Canadian lens. And then I do a lot of streaming coverage and wearables, smartphones, that sort of thing.
Mike Mahardy 2:14
Best game that encapsulates Canada? When we talk about a Canadian lens, what's the game that like, that's Canada right there?
Bradley Shankar 2:22
That's a great question. That's Canadian. We've been having a lot lately. There's been a really nice boom of games set in Canada. I've been trying to like cover a lot of them. I would say, honestly, I think Venba that came out in the last couple of years, that's from Visay Games in Toronto. And it's about this immigrant story about an Indo-Canadian family that, you know, settles into Toronto and sort of tries to, you know, acclimatize and you know stay connected to their culture while you know being in Canada and I think that kind of sums up the sort of universal immigrant experience I know a lot of people around the world what you don't have to be Indian or Canadian to love it so
Mike Mahardy 2:59
Brad that was

a

great poll great job on that I like that a lot good job Brad of course what have you been playing it's September it is a packed September it's a packed fall season everyone's playing some cool awesome games what are you playing lately
Bradley Shankar 3:13
Yeah, a couple of things I can't talk about for Embargo, but in terms of, like, recent reviews, I just reviewed Silent Hill Townfall, which I agreed with a lot of you guys. Really great atmosphere and, you know, sort of moment-to-moment stealth gameplay, but then it kind of gets a little frustrating with the puzzles and sort of one-hit-kill enemies. And then before that was Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, which was... Very big game. Big game.
Mike Mahardy 3:39
How many hours did you put into it? Did you beat it? Who did you choose as your flame Lords?
Bradley Shankar 3:43
Yeah. I put in close to a hundred hours. I did Lita. I picked Lita because I liked the sort of dancer class. I thought that was a fun twist on it. And yeah, I saw her story through to the end. And then I did a little bit of Theodora's as well, just to check it out. But it's like, It's a very big game. Big game. That was honestly one of my issues with it. Like, it's a good game, but I think it does overstays welcome a little bit in how sort of interwoven everything is.
