Chapter 2: How does Derek Anderson describe his journey in basketball and life?
I'm going to say you're one of them. Yeah. Okay. I'm going to say Cameron's one of them. Yeah. And who do you think? Anybody? The third one's going to surprise you, I think. Okay. Who's the third one? You going to guess? I don't know. Do you have a guess? Anthony Ips? No, he's kind of calm. I think because he's coaching, he's got to give him a little cushion. Who's the other one? Wayne Turner.
Chapter 3: What challenges does Derek Anderson face as a former player?
Oh, Wayne Turner. When I tell you Wayne is brutal. Wow. We'll text Wayne on the other group and say, hey, raise that, Wayne. Like, what are you doing? Like, he's going to read this. Like, he's coaching. Like, no. So, Derek Anderson, Cameron Mills, and Wayne Turner giving that. Yeah, yeah.
Well, everybody gives it, but I just think we're just more ā like, I'm more passionate about it because I see the game from different ā because I work with, like, the NBA guys, top 100 high school kids. So, I see ā
evolution of how the iq game is not there and i'm trying to get them to understand that the teaching part so you're you're dealing with a lot of the high school guys and you're you're dealing with a lot of top players of of all those ages yeah conversations and you know mark so this you're actually the perfect person to ask this question there's a lot of people been wondering over the last couple years can mark pope relate
To the current player. That's been the question that a lot of fans wonder. You're probably the only person, one of the few people that knows both. How would you answer that? Well, I don't know his speech. And I think when I speak to kids and the parents, I'm like, I can teach your kids. Like, if y'all probably put a five up like this, that's 55 a jump shot. They don't teach that.
So when you ask a player to be a great shooter and you don't teach it, it's kind of like hard. So I don't know what his speech is going into it with the parents. And mine was always, I can teach your kid how to think, how to play, and be a pro. And that's the mentality. And I don't know what his speeches are. He can relate to the guys because he's a great guy.
When it's time to X's and O's, time to change, it's time to do things, I think that's when we don't know what he's actually done because it's a new situation. Because when you're in BYU, you get to kind of run and play, and it's a different style. When you're in the SEC and the Kentucky thing, we was coming for your throat. And that's a different mentality. Is he teaching that mentality?
Because he's never been that rah-rah guy anyway. You saw him. We play. I'm dancing when I dunk on you. He's just like, this is a good play, D, and goes to that. Yeah. Like, that's a great guy, but that's not Kentucky. Like, I was taught to dominate players whenever I played, and that was a mentality. So you think maybe there needs to be a little bit of a dog mentality?
Yeah, you have to.
He always is saying that.
