Chapter 8: What are the upcoming events and discussions in Kentucky sports?
John's game. I think he goes ā he said something like ā I wasn't allowed to do my own individual workouts. I had to do everything with the team. And he kind of insinuated that's why he stopped playing because he wasn't able to do Jaden things. He had to do Kentucky things.
And what was your hot take? I mean, it wasn't a hot take. It was the same take that I would say 90% of our fan base has. Why wouldn't he go out there and at least give it a try and play a couple of minutes and see how he felt? That knee has been swelling the entire season. Now we get to the NBA Combine and all of a sudden he's good to go. It's amazing how that works. Nobody saw that coming, huh?
Everybody knew this was what was going to happen. Everybody. We all called it. And now it's happening. I'm just calling it what it is. Nobody wants to say it out loud. I'll say it.
That's all it is. I was listening on the way in. Evil Shannon. No, that's the truth. That's the hard reality. Shannon the rude. Do you agree with Shannon here? No, I think he's completely wrong. He's completely wrong. Your point, Shannon, is because he had a really good combine performance. Your point is if he could do that... He could go out there and at least give it a try.
Go out there and play a minute or two.
If you're not feeling well, take him out of the game. At least you tried. At least you gave it an effort. But to sit on the bench... and play basically not at all. But he said his knee was swelling. Okay.
I mean, to be fair, you don't know if his knee was swelling. Well, okay, but that's a long time swelling for a knee. But, I mean, can you not go out up there and at least try? That's interesting because my issue with his comments, to the extent I have them, were about sort of saying, like, well, I was supposed to do my workouts, not the team's workouts. Why can't you do the team's workouts?
Well, that was kind of what I was wondering. I'm not going to, like ā You know, it's tough because you've got to put yourself also in the position of the dad. You have this son who gets one shot at it. But he also, I do look at these things a little differently like when you're paying these guys. Because he is essentially a pro last year, too. Yeah. And, you know, he had the big St.
John's game, but then he gave it three more tries and didn't look that good. People forget that. Yeah. They forget he played a couple more games and actually did not look very good. I mean, I forgot the guy's name for Bellarmine, but he was kind of locking him down. So, I mean, we think of the St. John's game, but he didn't look great. I'm with Shannon.
