Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for.
Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breathe? and it's beautiful. The guys are young and cute and fit.
It's not just a game. It's your culture.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Echavarri, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S.
and its underdog roots. Listen to American Football on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Can superstars even exist the way they used to? 2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture, where we still consumed things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another Rihanna.
What does it mean to be Black and eat in America? You will never make me feel bad for being a Black girl, for being a Black American girl, ever.
From music to food to the conversations shaping Black culture right now, Therapy for Black Girls is bringing it all to the mic. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio Thursday, June the 25th. Chapter 3: What happened during NBA Draft Night 2?
Smith Law Office. If you call T.J., he'll make them pay. Guys, there's a lot to get to, including... An update on the call yesterday. And Otago away drafted. Right. Two former Cal guys that played here at Kentucky also drafted. Yes. But I do want to start with something that happened last night. You know, when you... There are people out here that know.
When you own a house, there are just things that start happening. Never stops. That you don't, like... Shannon, you don't think about in life. I'm well aware. When you're a renter, you're just like, oh, that doesn't seem to work. Somebody will do something about it. Call the landlord.
That's right.
So right now, I don't have televisions or electronics in there yet. I haven't gotten to that. So it's kind of real quiet at night. And you're out in the neighborhood where it's pretty quiet. When it's really, really quiet, like where I live downtown, it was never quiet.
Right.
But when someone's really, really quiet, then, Shannon, you start to hear everything.
Oh, yeah.
So then you start to hear, all right, they're sloshing the water. Uh-oh. Am I being hit by a typhoon?

Chapter 4: What are the challenges of being a homeowner?
It's never a good sound in a house. Now, I'm sure it's because pipes and hot water heaters. But, you know, you start getting in your mind, like, what's happening? Is there a hurricane about to hit?
Yeah.
And you hear me like, well, that feels loud. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to, you know. So there's that. And then it's midnight. You go, you know what? It's a beautiful night. I'm going to go sit on the porch.
Perfect night.
Look at the stars.
Yeah.
Maybe like that Toby Keith Sting song. Remember that terrible one about divorce where he says, I picked a star for him and want two stars for my kids.
I must have missed that one. I don't remember that one. Oh, look it up.
It's called I'm So Happy. It's an awful song. Anyway, open the door. There's an alarm system. I can report it works. Yes. I didn't know I had that. Yeah. I knew I needed to call them and work on it. I didn't know it was currently in place.

Chapter 5: How does one handle unexpected home emergencies?
It's almost like you're living in somebody else's house. I am living in someone else's house. It feels like. Everything starts beeping. Of course, Ryan, I don't know a code to turn it off. Yeah, nobody told you how to do it. Because nobody told me. Nobody said it was active. How are you going to turn it off? And I mean, it's not a secret now. It's been in the newspaper.
I bought it from Bush Hamden. Yes. Well, I don't want to call him. I don't know what to say to him. Hey, Bush.
At midnight?
At midnight. Come take a look at it. What's the code?
Bubble screen.
He seems like a 1-2-3-4 guy. Maybe 9-9-9-9. Oh, you think so? Well, I tried both those. Didn't work. So now I'm hit. So I do the only thing I know how to do, which is call my friend Hubby. You almost got a call, Ryan. I would have tried my best to help you.

Chapter 6: What insights can we gain from Debbie and Donnie's story?
And it was midnight. I knew he'd be awake. And he just starts suggesting buttons. I keep hitting buttons. Finally get it to stop. Okay? And I'm like, all right, we're good. Get in bed. Start reading my book. Getting ready for my fall asleep to sex in the city moment.
I love that you fall asleep to that. Just go to sleep show.
Fall asleep. Yeah. Cause it's like, again, remember what's the key to a fall asleep show? Good enough to just keep your attention, but you don't really care. So you can fall asleep. I did six feet under, but I've already done it. So I've moved to sex. 1230. It's the police. Automatically called them, didn't it? They called the police. It's a good alarm system. Good alarm system.
So now I open the door. Everything okay in there, sir? And I'm immediately like, when I open the door, it went off again. Oh, no. Now I've got this officer there.
Chapter 7: What are the implications of the latest NBA draft picks?
Me. He clearly is like, you idiots with the alarms. I said, look, man, this is my second night in this house. I don't know how to turn this off. He comes in. He can't figure it out either. So we're just standing there and it's beeping. What do we do? Call hubby. Hubby remembers how we did it the last time we turned it off. I say to the officer, thank you.
He goes, when I walk out, is it going to do it again? And I was like, nah, walks out. Oh my goodness. Hit the buttons again, finally stops. This morning, walk to leave. Same thing. I don't know what to do. What are you supposed to do? You have to call Bush. Is my life in Bush Hamden's hands? I think you're just going to have to call him for any problem that arises over the next few years.
Look, am I just going to, Shannon, I have to call our offensive coordinator to get out of my house? If he was a good owner, he should have transferred that to the new owner, to the realtor who could have given it to you. Yeah, where's my realtor? That's what usually happens. We have nothing to do with the home security system. That's on y'all. Is that normally on the realtor?
negative oh look at drew i don't know i'll tell you like when i got keys i got them from the realtor like keys no i got keys and all that he gave me that i mean like all the stuff like the code to get in all the stuff i have the garage stuff but i didn't you don't have the security code but the security thing hasn't been i don't know how it all of a sudden started last night because it hasn't been doing it the rest of the time that's what's puzzling why what activated it
Chapter 8: How do personal relationships influence sports narratives?
But you're the realtor. I can make some calls today. Who are you calling? Well, the info sheet that they gave us, I'm just going to call that service first. There's a service? I'm sure there's a service. Somebody's paying for this.
Yeah.
No, it's not me.
I'm not paying for it.
Bush is still picking up the tab. Thank you, Bush. And you've got to pay an annual alarm fee to the city.
Fine.
I just wanted to stop beeping. Every time you go in and out the door. Yeah. You know your neighbors had to hear it too. I don't think it was loud enough for the neighbors. But then I considered going and knocking on the door of the neighbor because I didn't know what to do. What was I just going to do? Sit up there all night?
Your house is going to be surrounded by the SWAT team when you get home because they're going to think there's something going on there.
It's got to be on some auto schedule where it's a certain hour. It must have had an auto schedule. To start activating at midnight or whatever time. Since you've been going in throughout the day. I've been going through the day, and then this is the first time I've probably ever opened the door after midnight. So now you have a curfew. You've got to get inside and lock the door.
