So today I have with us a new guest, Bajoy Narayana, who is the founder, product architect, and CEO of Bob AI. How are you, Bajoy?
Doing very well, Tamara. Thanks for the invitation. Look forward to the conversation.
Absolutely. Absolutely. So before we get into Bob AI, let's start with you as the founder of Bob AI. What's your passion? And walk us through that moment where you realized that there was a need for Bob A along the lines of housing.
Yeah, I used to work in technology all my professional career. I started basically doing software implementations for large enterprises. And then... I was not ready to start a company during the dot-com phase.
And
then later on, I was working in IBM and we were in the Watson group. At one point, IBM was a leader in AI and we were trying to create useful and exciting applications. And then I left IBM. I didn't want to miss the AI wave. So I thought I should start a company of my own. And the idea was to create AI services on the Watson platform. So we were not really focused on any industry.
I
live in Dallas and I met with the CEO of Dallas Housing Authority. His name is Troy Brassard, an extremely engaging, very energetic public official. So he met with me for lunch and then I was pitching him our new company. We are based in Dallas and we could do AI things for you. And a one hour lunch turned out to be a four hour meeting. And then he basically introduced me to the public housing authorities. And I had done a little bit of research before meeting him.
So there were
some problems that were like really in our wheelhouse, me and the CTO. So we picked up, it was about optimizing inspections. And that was a major problem that he was working on. So we had some success on that.
How did Bejoy Narayana’s career path lead to founding Bob.AI?
We got into the industry. And then I realized what public housing authorities actually do
and
the impact they make and the real problem in the industry. There are 26 million low-income families in the U.S. And they could be homeless without interventions any time. And then I realized that the software they were using were pretty outdated and most of the work was done on paper. And we had an opportunity to actually focus on the niche and create an AI native product for public housing authorities. And that's what we
did. Awesome. So tell us what is Bob AI and who are your ideal customers?
So Bob AI is a platform for low-income families to find housing. and for public housing authorities to complete the transactions using a web and mobile platform. With AI doing the, doing the work of a case manager.
