Now in this series I speak to managers and coaches of teams in the Barclays WSL and Barclays WSL2, taking you behind the sidelines and inside the minds of the leaders shaping some of the most demanding environments in football. Every season we have a theme. The caterpillars aren't the theme, but You know, like I said, we like for me, energy is important, fun is important, um, being personable is important for me and We had a bit of a running joke. I don't know how it came about pets, but the technical team bought me pets. They bought me caterpillars. Literally. To grow into butterflies. But this really evolves because I these caterpillars they brought as a present for the manager and the month award from the LMA after September. But the caterpillars weren't in season, so actually, they arrived about two months ago. This box of caterpillars just arrived on your desk. How does it work? Yeah, it's a really bizarre situation actually.
I never knew it could be a thing. They came in this carp, there's five caterpillars in there. Have you named them? Yeah, I name them after the technical team 'cause there's actually five of us. So anyway, I've got this Cup it's obviously sealed of caterpillars on my desk for about Actually I think we had them for about two months, right? But the caterpillars are constantly feeding every day. It's a lovely concept. You have to feed them. No, the food's in there already. Thank yeah, thank God. This is so wild, isn't it?

I have people coming in. My office I have CO coming in, I've got caterpillars on my desk. Seriously, I've got players I'm play taking the caterpillar into the gym. G girls, have you seen this? I mean I've seen sounds of what a team dog. You have team caterpillars. Yeah. But this is the great thing. And this is uh I'm there's something special about this in alignment, right? The caterpillars, they got huge. Obviously they're eating every day. So I'm reading about it and I'm like, this is beautiful, right? They're so ugly. And then they're going to become like these wonderful cater uh butterflies and I'm going to set them free. I'm really not helping myself here with future jobs, am I? Am I? So Hope just shook her head every day she walked past my office while I was looking at these caterpillars, you can imagine.
But it became this lovely thing. They got big, they cocooned. There's five of them. We went into our busiest block of games over the last month, right? I think we had six games within three weeks and it was a lot. I think the first game we played and we knew it was gonna be tough. We we'd come out of a really tough run, a real dip actually. We Drew against Durham away, conceding in last minute.
