It or Leave It live from Hollywood. I'm Jon Lovett and let's get into it. What a week. On Friday, President Trump announced in a Truth Social post that reporters from CNN, Politico, and MSNOW would be barred from the White House. Responded CNN and Politico, I hope Trump gets MSNOW.
Wrote Trump, Media outlets shouldn't be able to constantly write or report fiction and lies when they're covering the President of the United States. Other fake news media outlets to follow. First, they came for CNN, Politico, and MSNOW, and everybody spoke up because Trump actually said from the start he was gonna come after others next. That dumb bitch. Journalists from the three banned outlets were denied access to the White House grounds on Saturday morning. You too, said Don Jr., pacing outside the gates. And then the reporters all went to brunch together and strolled through a farmer's market and picked up a few of the last summer tomatoes, went home and had sex with their spouses in the middle of the afternoon.
It was the best Saturday of their adult lives. But that's not the point. The three outlets are suing over the ban, calling it a blatant violation of the First Amendment, and the other major television networks said they would, in solidarity, suspend White House pool coverage. In the end, it's probably for the best that Trump stays away from pools anyhow, given how frequently he has diarrhea. The boycott led to surreal moments like this one on Newsmax when Trump held an event at the White House, but there was no
audio. Okay, so there is no microphone because the pool cameras aren't there. So maybe, Tim, this is one example of it backfiring just a little bit.
Trump babbling inaudibly under a roaring mechanical hum while right-wing commentators look on in embarrassment. Is banning CNN the best thing he's ever done? Wouldn't you download some sort of an app on your browser that turns all of Trump talking and just to the sounds of bees? J.D. Vance later went on Newsmax to insist that everyone was just being hysterical.
I've heard a lot of people say that we've banned Politico. Politico will still write their crazy articles. They will still misrepresent what we say and do. What's different is that they don't have an office in the White House anymore. It's not a ban. It's the refusal to grant special access to people who are engaged in dishonest reporting.
Yeah, man, you should probably talk to all these idiots who are saying it's a ban.

They're just not allowed to work from the workspace at the White House. So there's nothing to worry about. They're not arresting anybody. They're just refusing journalists access to public property based on their viewpoints in order to tilt coverage toward the president while hoping reporters think twice before being critical of Trump for fear of losing their ability to report from inside the White House grounds. So quit being a baby about it. It's not full authoritarian censorship. It's only the most that someone with an authoritarian mindset feels he can get away with right now.
And sure, that's more than what he could do a few years ago. But look on the bright side.
