Chapter 1: What updates were made to the podcast studio?
Hello everyone and welcome to episode 27 of the Lucky Dogs podcast. We've actually made some updates to the studio. We've finally got Ainsley in the studio for hopefully the full, the full episode now because New Zealand obviously, you know, I think she actually sanitized the cameras to be honest. Yeah, cut them out. That's right.
I thought she might just pick up our viewers this week by coming on. So, uh, we've convinced her we had to pay a big budget for it.
Oh yeah. Huge budget.
Yeah.
We've got some upgrades. We've got quad lock have come back on board, which is pretty cool. So I've got a nice neon sign behind me here. And, um, I haven't done anything in the studio to help out. I've just been holidaying around and flying around the outback, but, uh, you guys, it looks very nice guys. So good job. Yeah. Thank you. We actually were hard at work, but yeah.
Shocked that you didn't help at all, which is pretty, um, pretty normal for you, but yeah. And he just goes, oh, we have to fit the light to the ceiling. You'll have to get in the roof. I was like, can't we just put an electrician in the booth? Why am I getting in the roof? Like... Surely we can afford this by now. There's also been some more changes. Oh. There's been some big changes.
What's this? Can you remove the hat, please? Oh yeah. Yeah. I, um, got back today. Shave the head. I like it. I like it. So, um, yeah, I actually called Ainsley on the way there today. I got back from that and I'm like, Ains, I just need a bit of moral support. I'm going to go down and shave the, shave the hair off. So, um, big reveal. I'm now bald. 27 years it lasted for.
So when, when you called her, I was actually, um, it was actually a group call and I was in the back laughing. Nah, I'm joking. Nah. That would have been so funny. I was like, I'd come hold your hand if I was up there. I was like, oh, well.
It's a big deal. It's a big deal.

Chapter 2: What happened at the house party that caught everyone's attention?
Yeah, that's the thing. Everyone goes, oh, can you be mates with these guys and race hard? And then it's like, well, look at you and You and Chas over there, me and you, if we had to, if I didn't run off at Grand Prix, it was going to get into it. But it's just a normal thing. I don't look at anyone out there and go, that's my mate at all.
And if I have a sook after the race because something happened, well, it is what it is. But, you know, you're not changing how you race on the track. But I think... I think like all the social media side of things changes things a lot these days. And like, even, even the, the amount of promo stuff we do, like how much promo stuff we all add together and all that. It's nearly like.
It's a fair bit.
Well, obviously I wasn't at the, um, your auto parts sponsor. Cause we're. Yeah. Sponsored by Repco. So, you know, sign up for Repco rewards today. Um, but, uh, yeah, I think it's just a different day and age now. And, um, I like what Jess said on Motorsport 362, where it's, we set a good example for young kids and stuff, um, coming up and racing as well.
And obviously the incident was the, like the incident that's obviously, uh, Not, not, um, I guess a great look for, for young kids, but you know, how we carry ourselves afterwards, I think it's pretty important. So. And it's probably talk about, but you run Chaz's social media, mine, a bunch of other ones, and you probably see like the amount of. flack that a driver cop's just like that.
Yeah. It's horrific. Like some of the stuff people get sent and even comments on other platforms that don't get monitored. Like it's just crazy. Like Chaz has obviously done the no social hate stuff in the past and I set that up with him. So did the same thing for Woody last year, helped him out with that.
But like the amount of things you've got to turn on so that people can't say certain things or
send you death threats or send you messages about your family like it's a big deal to have it all turned on and turned off but if other people don't follow suit then that's where it gets bad and then you see it anyway so I feel like posting that photo and the video like done yeah everyone have a look and you if they're over it you get over it at home on your keyboard that's right you can't really talk about it once you see that can you
No. Yeah. And it happens in every, like, it's not just our sport. No, exactly. Like every single sport, any, any time. And I feel like it's probably different now these days because there's like your betting platforms, people put money on money on things. And when they don't get the result they want, they get on and they've lost their 50 bucks.

Chapter 3: What are the recent changes in Supercars communication?
Some of them, yeah. Like, they just got, they got the show, like, they did a great job of just getting the show underway, so we always had full laps of the show. I thought it was great. Okay. I kind of don't get, like, I get that the car is meant to start under its own power, but I've always thought this when, like, people have a flat battery on the grid and it ruins their whole race.
Like, you get going and the battery will probably, or the charger itself pretty much doesn't know if the alternator should. So it's like, why don't they just push start them or let them start it off a battery pack and let the person start the race? Like, to be honest, like, I can kind of maybe see it for, like, a supercars thing, like, of it being a thing. But for, like, an amateur level racing...
Like people obviously paying a lot of money to go do, to go do this stuff and then to not be able to race because of a flat, like a flat battery or something that happens or whatever else, like whatever. And this is going back to, um, to Christchurch, but Cam had like a flat battery. He wouldn't start. And then he got it started. Now he nearly went to the back, but not all the way to the back.
And then he drove through the pack back to his starting point to start where he was like, which I didn't even know if you could do if you missed the, which I didn't care. I was like, Oh, at least he got it started. But I was a bit further back than you. Like, I don't know where I qualified in this race. Maybe set it.
Oh, maybe it was when I was 13, but yeah, he drove back through the pack and got to start where he, um, where he was gridded up for, which generally, if you don't start on the line, isn't that different for the reconnaissance lap? Well, I don't know how he would have done that. Because I think you're generally meant to drive down pit lane.
You have to prove with an official president that it can start under its own power. Yeah, I don't know what happened, but they didn't go out and I don't know what happened there because they didn't go out, I don't think, and jumpstart it, but he got it started late. But yeah, I thought you're meant to start from pit lane, but a bit of a different one.
Yeah, but anyways, back to the Trans Am stuff, the racing I thought was pretty good across the weekend. It's funny how the cars are a lot different than a supercar. They're quite a bit more simple. There's a lot less sensors. There's minimal data, to be honest. The rear bumper system, and it's pretty good.
It's not like they don't have a diffuser or anything, so if you hit someone up the arse end, it doesn't ruin your whole race, basically. You can still keep going. In fact, it probably does more damage to the car during the pushing. Does that make sense? Yeah. So it's like just literally like two tubes that come out the back of the tube.
And then it's just like literally like a fiberglass re-bumper. Don't fuse or anything like real simple. And does that hurt? Like, does it, do you feel it in the car a lot to hit someone or get hit? You're drifting the whole time. So like someone just has to rub you a little bit and you're like offline. Yeah. Just pretty, it's like pretty good.

Chapter 4: How did Brodie perform in his Trans-Am racing?
Yeah, that was me.
Yeah.
Oh, so that was, uh, that was my heat test, but yeah, like there was, I actually generally a lot of people have like things that they tell you to go do and Jen and sometimes not at the, like, you know, you don't learn a whole lot because we have learned a lot over the years of training and that, but that was probably one of the best things I've done.
So hopefully do a bit more with them on just, cause you know, you go to Bath or you go to Adelaide at the end of the year and it ends up being a hot one. you know, you've got to be pretty well prepared.
And at the end of the day, like I said before, you, you hope for the best, like the cool suit and everything worked at the second round Christchurch and I'm, I could have gone for a 10 K run after and felt fine, but you, you hope for the best plan for the worst. And that's why I'm going to do more training from what I learned there, but it was definitely a, um, Yeah. It was, it was interesting.
An experience. It was an experience. Are you going to learn, are you going to start reading things before you do things like instructions?
I'm glad I did ask. I said, I don't have to do this testing. Like this isn't like a six monthly test that we have to do to just make sure.
It's after every round for the rest of the year.
It was weird. He came in and checked my ear, like temperature by just the ear thermometer and was like, nah, the probe was, uh, what do you, what do you call it? Optional. Optional. No, it wasn't. I'm kidding. I would have been that off it.

Chapter 5: What adventures did Will have in the outback?
Oh, so now looking forward to Tassie. It's been probably too long between events, which I see a lot of people asking about this, but you probably can't do a better job. Like you can, if you're going to spend the money to air freight it, but that's not going to happen. Well, it's either air freight it or send it straight to Tassie. I don't know if you can do that.
No, I'm sure we could get, we could all get by. Yeah. Well, I only just thought of that right now. I think it's too far between events and like, The racing has been good lately. Like we're on a roll. Like since last year where every event there's been different, like there's been different winners. Like most races, there's not like one team just dominating. And I feel like the racing's been good.
Like it's been close. Yeah. I reckon it'd be awesome to watch. Like I watched some of the race back, not all of them, but I reckon the racing would be great because when you're out there and you know, you're in a massive battle pack, generally all the guys, like there's other battle packs going on. And I feel like I'm always out in the middle of something lately.
Um, but yeah, I think, I think the racing has been probably the best. Like it just keeps getting better and better. Pretty much once it's getting closer and closer. Yeah. Like the, the field spreads now so tight. So it's like, we have this like four weeks off and it just like cools down too much. Oh, I agree.
You post pictures from a party and then there's nothing to talk about.
No, they're talking about bullshit from a party. Which I can see why they're annoyed about that party now because they had five weeks of maybe running the same content and keeping some hype until the next round because it happened in the last race, last lap, biggest thing there was, and then we go and kill it. So I kind of get it a little bit, but it's like if we're racing more.
Yeah, let's get to the root of the problem. Yeah, we've got to race more. Yeah. Which, yeah, I thought, I, like I said, I thought it was cool. People did TA too. Maybe the really serious fans that would have watched that and tuned in if it was on Instagram or whatever, just on what people are doing.
But, um, yeah, I don't know how, I think it's great doing two weekends in New Zealand because got to take the cars anyway, but got to work out how we keep on racing.
Oh, no, our last one, you guys wanted to talk about the tyre bundle bombs.

Chapter 6: What do supercar drivers do during their time off?
I would like to. I think, I think Brock, like, I think has a little bit because of the job he did at the 12 hour. Like he probably didn't get to show the final, um, what he could do.
Like he qualified really well in it, but obviously the kangaroo, but I would say that he would be pretty close to having chats with them with that, but I haven't yet, but I'd love to go do something in GT overseas with Ford. That'd be awesome. Yeah. No, no one's asked, so. I'm not too bothered to be honest. Yeah, that's fair.
A lot of clients drive in the car, but I just, I get frustrated with BAP. Yeah, BAP is a bit hard sometimes. I'd like to do the 12-hour one year. I would have had a call-up by now. I'll steer around for at least one lap.
Would supercars, drivers, and teams ever be open to reverse grid races?
I've said this. I reckon they should do speedway format for sprint races, where it's invert. Oh, it'd be freaking hectic.
Explain a bit more for people that don't follow Speedway.
It would be like a pill drawer. So it's random. So it'd be like sometimes. So in Speedway, you generally qualify. Then you have heats. Like you can have one heat and then the main event. And if there's so many cars, then there's like a B feature. But you want to be in the A feature, which is like where the big trophies. So I want a B feature. And Speed Cafe said I want a feature one time. Yeah.
Sprint car is the most embarrassing thing ever because all the speedway people are going to think he's in the frigging B main. Embarrassing. But so we qualify for basically like a Saturday race. So we do like two races on the Saturday. So we might qualify Saturday morning, then do a sprint race, then a main race.
And it could be like whoever qualifies on pole is then going to do a pill draw, which could be like four, six races.

Chapter 7: How do heat tests impact racing performance?
All right. So you're 32%. I'm 33. That's not, that's not equal share. And she's 33 and a half. So you guys are, why are you all bumming? Is that because we're not? It seems like you are. It's weird because all the money comes and goes through my bank accounts. You guys are going to have to be nice to me. I don't know. What did you buy in here? What have you actually done?
What the hell have you bought in here? Didn't you put it on my Amex card, all that stuff, Ainsley? What are you talking about? If it wasn't you putting it all on my Amex card, I don't know what all that money I lost. It's actually buying you. What, like a... Didn't I buy the cameras? I bought the cameras. Really? You sure about this? So I really paid for nothing and done nothing.
Well, we did buy ourselves a few things off your Amex, but... Yeah, yeah. Okay, that makes sense.
I bought myself my birthday present from last year. I'm still waiting for it on your Amex, too.
I'm building you up to... Hey, my Mother's Day present. A really big birthday present. Actually, since it is Mother's Day, happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Yeah, that's a good one, actually. We definitely couldn't do what we do without you guys. Yeah, well, I wouldn't be here without my mother, so... Yeah, yeah. Thank you, everyone. But no, thanks for listening.
Hopefully we're going to come back with some guests on the next episode. We'll hopefully try to shoot one before Tassie, if not before Tassie, maybe.
I reckon we'll probably be recapping Tassie.
Yeah, yeah. It's been a busy time for us all. But yes, thanks for listening. And we'll talk to you all, if not before Tassie, for the recap.
