That it is. It is 60 years of Star Trek, so I'm wearing my Star Trek shirt, and I broke out my prototype iPhone, which is the Star Trek communicator. Shout out to my friend John Maltz, who 3D prints these. They're amazing. Oh, neat. That's cool. Yeah, he's the best. So it was kind of a flop. And your prototype iPhone.

wasn't it? They didn't do very many seasons of Star
Trek. You know, it's a little bit misleading. It was at a very weird time. They did only three seasons, although that was enough because they did like 26 episodes in a season or something to make
it successful.
And they had like writing campaigns to save it, although the fact is that NBC wasn't going to Wasn't really gonna cancel it. It was kind of like overstated it was it was weird timing because it was just as Demographics in ratings started to matter and the fact is if if they had held out like even another year Star Trek's audience was actually kind of huge Especially it was young And it was well-educated, but it was a little too early for that to have taken hold as the way you sold commercials on TV. And there's some great books called These Are the Voyages that tell the detailed stories of the making of the original Star Trek. And a little-known fact... is that mostly they didn't make a fourth season of Star Trek because NBC was tired of Gene Roddenberry, who was just insufferable.
I mean, seriously, he was insufferable. He totally dropped out of the production of the third season, and he drove away all the talented people who had written the first two years. So third season is kind of lousy. But you know what? In hindsight, if they had gone on and made a couple more seasons of Star Trek, the original series, I don't think there ever would have been a Star Trek after that. I think that the cult... We got the moment that this weird three-season show became a thing that 60 years later they're still making and talking about. So, you know, you don't want to step on that butterfly. But it was, yeah, it was more popular... then I think we are told, the stories we're told about it are, because it was just super popular in some areas of the culture.
