Chapter 1: What can listeners expect from the Occasionally Funny podcast?
Hello and welcome to Occasionally Funny, the podcast which aims to be occasionally funny. I'm your host Joshua Fox and I'm not actually sure this intro track works because actually it sounds more like a game show from the 90s, which is that the vibe I want? I'm not sure. It is fun, I suppose. No, actually, could it? I hate it. Or do I? Okay, hi. Here's the deal, right?
I assume you're all here from the Maths Funny podcast, which means you kind of know me by now. You know my vibe. And I assume you also know I'm not the most professional person. I don't plan things too far ahead. And instead of waiting weeks to launch this podcast, once I've mapped out how it's going to look and sound and who I'm going to be talking to, I just thought...
Let's figure it out as we go together. And let's just start now while I'm excited and hopefully you guys are excited. And I'm literally recording this first episode now covered in paint. We're in high-vis because I've just painted the walls so that will make the little set I'm making for this podcast.
And I'm also sat on the floor because I'm yet to decide what color chairs or sofa to buy that will go nice with the shade of hydrated colors.
piss yellow i thought would make a nice logo which i'm already regressing but i've now painted these walls that same shade of piss yellow so as i said we're gonna figure things out as we go including color schemes but for now and for anyone wondering well josh why are you doing a new podcast why not
The last couple of months covering this year's season of maths and especially all the feedback from you lovely people listening, like it really has ignited like this new passion and joy within me, which I know sounds cringe, but that's actually the truth. And it's also helped me like find this confidence where I'm like,
Hey, maybe I don't need to limit myself to only ever talking about Married at First Sight for three months of the year because I thought that's all anyone wanted to hear from me. So here I am. There's going to be no specific theme to this podcast other than having fun and hopefully entertaining while talking about... Whatever, really.
I will sometimes touch on the more serious things, but I will try and approach them with humour, which I think is what I've always done throughout my life. And I do actually have two main points to tick off in this first episode, though. Firstly, I really want to try and push myself with the content and in ways I can entertain and, I suppose, try and be funny. Like, I feel...
i'm okay with like the odd witty one-liner and banter when i'm back and forth talking with someone. But when it comes to the word funny, which apparently I've built a whole brand around, despite people often saying, you're not funny at all, you're too serious. I've decided, well, I'm going to lean into that. And I've set myself a challenge, which already terrifies me.

Chapter 2: Who are the potential co-hosts being considered for the show?
Why should you be the co-host and not Sam?
Because, well, no idea really. I'm very down to earth. I'm open. I'm honest. I care about people. Because apparently my sons made me very popular on different platforms. And people seem to like me most of the time.
Well, you're a star in Australia to me.
Oh, well, I'm a star. So, yeah, so why am I not getting the job if I'm a star in Australia?
No, so what I need you to do, and Sam as well, you're going to have one episode each to like prove yourself. And as it's quite occasionally funny, I want you both to come on your episode. And I want you to firstly, you've just got to try and make me laugh. It can be tell me a joke, an anecdote, a story, like anything, like occasionally funny. We want to entertain people.
We just want people to have a good time with us, you know?
just light entertainment.
I mean, it can be heavy entertainment if you want, like, you know, essentially you're just going to, we're going to start the episode and I think I'm going to start each one. If I've got like a guest, like, you know, maybe tell me the funniest thing that's ever happened to you and then try and make me laugh or something, you know, just to get conversation going.
Right. Okay.

Chapter 3: What is the proposition made to Sam from MAFS?
Because normally this bar we go in, it's not for the young kids running around with pink sequined cowboy hats on.
So surely that in itself would make you think, why would this global pop star... Be in your local pub.
Well, no, because I've never heard the name Sabrina Carpenter. The only famous carpenter I'd heard of was the Carpenters, Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter, her brother.
I thought you were going to say Joseph then.
No, not Joseph. That might have been the dad, I don't know.
No, did you? That was a joke.
That was a joke.
Joseph, famous carpenter.
Yes. Yeah, Joseph Carpenter, Mary and Joseph. Oh, yeah, okay.
