What is the opening banter and who is the surprise guest?
Welcome everybody to the Making Awesome podcast. This is episode two hundred and sixty-one. We are joined by a special guest that we didn't even know was happening until Twenty minutes ago, thirty minutes ago. Well I had no warning. I I've
just
had
a great
surprise. That that's fair. You didn't have a warning at all. We are joined by the ever effervescent Ross, aka Fauhammer, who uh Yeah. Oh, we had such a good talk the other day. It was so good. Apparently Shane thinks it's faux chaos.
Yeah, fair enough. I I'm just here to mix things up, play devil's advocate, and uh and do the rest. But thanks. I was happy to surprise you as well, Jacob, and just go, ah, it's me, I'm here. But uh I didn't realize that you are only an hour up the road from me, um, which is quite quite weird. We could have, we should have. We really should have. That would have been great. Missed
opportunities, gentlemen. Missed opportunities. Well, you you would Oh that alone I can I can tell you that alone. is i is absolutely worth it. Uh his mother's cooking is truly god tier. Uh Right, that you're only saying that 'cause I haven't cooked for you yet. Well, I have nothing to compare it against. I know, exactly.
You have no comparison, which means I get to be the um a quantum state of perfected cooking or the worst you've ever had. As long as you never observe my cooking, I can say whatever I want. Well, I can leave if you guys want to get a
room.
I th no, this is actually just normal. We've already done that before. This is actually just normal. Don't worry about it. And apparently I need to cut your image a little bit. There we go. I fixed it. All right. I'm gonna need the backstreet voice from you good, sir. Yeah, I know. Of of course, when are you gonna learn?
Nobody understands that. Like nobody understands when you're gonna be able to do that. Do you
understand the Backstreet Boys reference?
Not at all. I I I I can do a a slightly decent I want it that way as everyone can, but I mean no idea what you're on about. The Blackstreet Boys. I want it guy
kinda close. No, no, no, no. The who you are, the where you're from, the what you did, and as long as you love me.
Oh okay.
So people here can know who you are.
Elevator pitch, I'm Ross. Used to be a project manager for various companies before that. I was a laptop technician for 10 years working for Dixons, also known as PC World, who at the time were known as the idiots of computing. Like every large multinational, like your best buy, basically. Um I spent years working through things and I uh did a bit of a stint in marketing. And I was saying to my boss, look, we just need to be straight with people. Like, like we're blowing all this stuff up and we're doing, and he was like, no, no, no, no, no. We need to, you know, extravagance and all that. And I said, no, I don't, I don't believe in that. So I started in my hobby writing a blog. I'm into Warhammer 3D printing, I fell into.
And I was writing a blog, and my articles were very much, this is just how it is, guys. None of this trying to sell bollocks like the brands want you to. Uh my favorite paint review ever was called This Is Paint Review. Paint, 'cause it was paint. I mean Great Channel just has no
ability to go outside of paint.
No, exactly. So so did that. Um, and then because I was in 3D print, because I was in miniatures, um, I started buying resin printers. Of course. Uh it turns out not many people knew anything about resin printers, even the brand sending them to me. Uh, so then I started the YouTube channel, it grew, it grew. My channel has grown through look. I thank the GK2 and that video for it, it was such a great machine. Landed at the right time. My video. And like some companies that sell as printers, I'm riding the wave of a previous success. Um that that may come back and be more relevant later. Um, but uh yeah, so so that was me. These companies know so little about their machines that if they sold me, sent me resin printers, they would also send me FDM printers.
And I'm like, well, I don't want to send this back. I will review it anyway from the point of view of somebody who doesn't know anything.
