Now, Grandpa loves his music and has been singing and playing his entire life, so it's safe to say that those guitars not only held sentimental value to him. But we're damn expensive too. They of course went to the police, and after some digging around, they found that the guitars had been sold at a pawn shop or someplace.

Today I learned guitars can be insured. Now given how expensive the guitars were. The theft. was absolutely a felony. And because the son was in possession of stolen things, selling them off at a pawn shop. He was once again sent to jail. After that, the neighbors would harass my grandparents through the fence or from their porch, meaning it was difficult for my grandparents to even sit outside and enjoy their own property. Neighbors would call them foul names, throw trash over the fence, and the husband would still try to get physical. Now, while my grandpa is a very chill and mellow guy.
My grandma takes sh from no one. Especially not jerks like these. So what did she do?

She made it her mission to get that house condemned. It was actually a pretty easy thing for her to do, really. She called the local authorities, which I don't know what that means. I don't own a house, so don't ask me. But she got someone to come out and do an inspection. So it was clear from the outside of the house that this property hadn't been properly maintained in a long time. Well, one call led to more calls, and then the property was deemed unfit to live in, which forced the rude neighbors to move on out. Not sure what happened to them or where they went, but supposedly they were put up in a nearby hotel by a slumlord until the house could be fixed. Oh now, if that isn't some foreshadowing. Now enter the slum lord.
Of course his tenants told him who had reported the house, so of course he's upset with my grandparents. Rather than fix the house though, he chooses to get aggressive the first day he's there. Yelling at my folks about how they're idiots for reporting him.
