So years back now, roughly 2010, back when I was doing pizza delivery as a full-time job. I delivered to a university campus. Pretty standard procedure actually. Arrive at the general location of the address, call the customer and wait in the parking lot. Eventually, Buddy comes down, hands me the money, takes the pizza, and walks off. But then unprompted. He starts to sprint. Now, seeing him do this caused me to look down at my hand and That's when I noticed that one of the ten dollar bills is ripped in half. and the twenty dollar bill. is horribly counterfeit. As I look back up, dude's already back in his dorm, and the building's pass activated, so I couldn't get in to chase him even if I wanted to.
But then I remembered I have his number on my phone. Back from when I called him. So I call my pizza shop, tell them what happened, and they mark his number as a prank caller. So that means no more deliveries. I figured at that point, that's probably good enough. I guess. But as I was leaving the campus grounds, I happened to see security. And just my luck. They're speaking to a uniformed police officer. This was at the check stop just before you have to enter or exit the grounds of the school. So I stop my car, walk up and give them the rundown of what had just happened. I hand over the counterfeit bill and the ripped bill to the officer. While the campus security dude is looking up the phone number in the student directory.
Campus security rather promptly finds out who this is and Off they go. Ten minutes later, and I'm still sitting in my car near the entrance of the school. But he's in the back of the police car with his doormate for what I understand to be possession of counterfeit currency, obviously, and he had more in his dorm. Possession of narcotics. Possession of a controlled substance. Likely Adderall or Xanes, I believe. Possession with intent to sell. Possession of stolen property. Theft under a thousand dollars because technically they didn't pay for the pizza. I think there was another charge in there too, but after all this time, I can't remember. I guess the kid posted bail a couple of days later, or more likely, his family posted bail for him.
And that night he would come down to the pizza shop to quote, have some words with me. But I wasn't even on the clock that night.

So Buddy started trashing the lobby and got arrested again for his troubles. This time trespassing, criminal mischief, vandalism. They also happened to find a knife on him when they searched him, so there's a weapons charge in there too. And he most definitely got expelled from the university. I guarantee they thought they'd run game, give the pizza guy fake cash, and it would be something that they could just laugh over. It's both funny and sad when someone can flush their own future down the toilet. Over a twenty six dollar delivery. I encourage all young people out there.
