Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
You're listening to a Mamma Mia podcast. Hello and welcome to Mamma Mia Out Loud, what women are really talking about, what women are actually talking about. It's the last show of the year and I've forgotten what we do.
That's fine. We're so close.
Yeah. It's what women are actually talking about on Friday, the 19th of December. Out Louders, this is your last normal programming show for 2025. Over the summer, there are going to be lots of little treats dropping in your feed, including, of course, our iconic Word of the Year episode.
Yes, yes. And some very exciting recommendation episodes where we give you additional recommendations for the summer period.
Yeah. So all of that is happening, but this is our last regular show for 2025. And it's a unique one because this Friday, at the end of an emotional and intensely distressing week for so many, we continue to send our love and we know out loud as love and support to Australia's Jewish community and everyone deeply affected by Sunday's attack on Sydney.
And also today, my friends and I are going to end our year how we always try to end the week, with a news-free window of distraction and comfort and hopefully a little joy. So... I'm Holly Wainwright. I'm Em Burnham. And I'm Jessie Stephens. And for the last time in 2025, here's what's on our agenda for today.
I'm desperate to talk about our predictions for 2026 and we are going to revisit some 2025 predictions we had. Some came true, some didn't. Some of us, it appears, are a lot better at predictions than others, I'll say that.
LAUGHTER
We're also going to give you our recos for the week. We have two podcasts and a very sexy TV show.

Chapter 2: How should we approach writing a letter to ourselves before the new year?
They're never funny. They... Do they bring us together? Do they? Or are they just... Like additional waste. Like I'm not about them.
Chapter 3: What festive traditions are considered tacky?
I know that you're right about waste. But you can't have too many bonbons at Christmas. We call them crackers in England. You can't have too many crackers at Christmas. You have to have lots of them. In England, do you have jokes in your crackers? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, really bad dad jokes. I think it's where Brent got most of his inspiration from for the rest of the year.
The worst is when there's just a piece of plastic in it that has no purpose that's just designed to kill a turtle.
I know. Look, you're right. The thing is, like with the lunches, a lot of Christmas crackers or bonbons have gotten quite posh now.
Meghan Markle, on her show, she was making the bonbons and just putting so much stuff in it. It was like confetti and lollies and all of this stuff. Like I know if you just open it, it'll just be so many things just everywhere.
Yeah.
Okay, what about punch bowls? I also feel like this is quite American. Is that tacky? I think that's quite classy.
Can you put the bitch diesel in a punch bowl with some ice cubes? Asking for a friend.
What I worry about with a punch bowl is that it will get, again, is it appropriate for the climate? Because it's going to be hot, it's going to get sticky, and you make a big bowl of punch. Has anyone ever seen... a bowl of punch, get down to the bottom? Or do we have a few cups and then you've just got an enormous amount of waste, can't really be repurposed?
Also, no one knows how many standard drinks are in it. So if I have to drive or something... That's true. Stay away from that. Exactly. Double demerits. I remember last Christmas going, what's in the punch? And they were just like... Could be 11 standard drinks a cup. Yeah.

Chapter 4: What predictions are made for celebrity relationships in 2026?
reminding yourself, very similar to your, maybe, in fact, maybe all these letters should just be like, this too shall pass. But it will pass. Just save yourself that once a week. But just, like, enjoy it, embrace it, think of all the good things about it and then I'd write a list of them, like, you know, hot soup and, I don't know, cheesy shit.
But, like, it's fine.
I think that that would be a good one.
Outlouders, in a moment we look back at some of our 2025 predictions and we're ready to make some new bold ones for 2026. All right, we have less than two weeks left of 2025, and I hate to bring this up, but last year we threw around some predictions. Oh, no. Celebrity, politics, culture. Em, you are off the hook. Thank you so much.
Because sitting in your chair was Mia and she predicted, I quote, Harry and Meghan would get divorced this year. Nope. Brad Pitt will marry the girl he's dating. They just broke up.

Chapter 5: What were the predictions made for 2025, and how accurate were they?
And she'll fall pregnant. Nah. I just, I read her predictions and I went, okay, no wonder she needed a break. She was delusional. Before we get into our predictions for 2026, I wanted to revisit the other prophecies that we had for this year just to do a bit of a, like, just to check them.
Mia actually said, she got this one right, Megan's show will come out, we'll get our jam and she'll return to acting.
All those things have happened.
Yeah, all of those things have happened.
Just in case Outloud has started getting overly excited, she was seen on a set. Yeah. Whether she's acting acting or doing a cameo as herself, we're not sure.
But I think Mia's spot on there. I think she is too. She also said people will post less on social media. She was right about that. Now, Holly. Didn't make anything any better on social media, though, funnily enough. Holly, you predicted that Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk would be a couple by Feb.
Can I roll that over? I still think it's got potential. I still think that that has got potential.
What I will say about that prediction is something is coming for Kim Kardashian in relationships. Like there's a big swing coming. She kind of had her like Pete Davidson. Yeah. Like then there was Kanye and all of that. She's had her several years. There's going to be a high-profile boyfriend this year and I think we have to brace ourselves for it. What about a wedding?
Because she says she really wants a wedding.
