Hello, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of Mastering Dungeons, your favorite tabletop role-playing game podcast, where we talk about news and we talk about game design and we talk about all the things that you love as a player of role-playing games. I'm Sean Merwin here with the energetic Teos Abadia. You got the best director ever, Mug, which means you are obviously the best director ever.
Yep, yep. At least that's what I remind my players when I'm the director for Draw Steel Games. And uh it's their fault 'cause one of 'em got me that and Commander. So uh Sean, how was
your weekend? My weekend was a week because I was on vacation. Uh I went to Boston and I went to Maine and we saw some cool things and we saw whales and we saw history and we saw topography and we saw all the great things and now I am back and boy am I swamped. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. I have uh How old your week at I have two blisters from hiking through uh tow blisters from hiking on this gorgeous, gorgeous Forest Park, you know, convoluted trail that connects all the various trails. Somehow we did not get lost. Uh but it was it was great. Just it's so pretty out there and it just feels good to, you know, get away from your computer, Sean. I don't know if you what that what's that like, but
Uh it was bliss for you know the six days or so and now Yeah now now we are going to pay. We are going to pay, but that's okay. It's it's it's good payment.
Yeah. The other thing I'll I'll add is my kids are gone. So that is the other reason I now have to go back to work. They've they've gone back to school. Uh that is sad, but it also means that I now get to be productive again because it's been like impossible. So which is a wonderful level of impossible, but here we go.
It it is, it is. And uh what uh what's also wonderful is that in our main segment today, we are going to talk to Lile Fujawara and Lydia Suen uh who work for Brotherwise Games and work on the Cosmir RPG, and we are going to get all the Gossipy goodness and all the facts about what's going on there with the Cosmere RPG and especially the Mistborn setting, uh, which is going to be coming out soon.
Yeah, I've met Lila several times at um Game Hole, uh fantastic designer and organizer. Um, and we've talked about uh various programs like uh Game Hole, the POC meet and greet is all something that uh Lila has a heavy hand in. So great stuff there. And I and you and I have talked to Lila about uh Cosmere adventures and stuff. We'll get into that. It's it's gonna be exciting.
Yep. But first we are going to do our listener corner where we take uh all the messages from all of our listeners and answer some of those. And we're going to start with Thorlik via Blue Sky. With Star Wars DD coming, what should designers do with Jedi? The power they possess is far beyond scoundrels, scouts, and diplomats. Should they be prestige classes? I'm nervous about the product success because of Jedi. What level is Jedi Luke in each movie? Um, so so you know, this this is a great question. And because I'm gonna ask a question that I don't know the answer to because I haven't played heavily any of the stories. Star Wars games leading up to this one. But how many of the Star Wars RPGs have gotten Jedi right?
I have heard so many complaints about previous games that the Jedi ruined it. The Jedi were too powerful. Or on the converse side, the Jedi weren't powerful enough. They they should be more powerful. And so how do you how do you get this right? In fact, how many Star Wars movies or shows or books or comics or video games have gotten Star Wars right, according to their own fans? Right. And and this is this is the the issue. This is Uh I'm gonna go into a deep diatribe here, Teo. So I want to give you a chance.
Well, I'll I'll just say that yeah, like I have played a number of the Star Wars games, some of them uh fairly deeply, uh, especially Saga, the most recent, and I've played a little bit of, you know, Edges. I think that when the systems have managed to equate what a Jedi is with what a diplomat is, that's the fun experience at the table.
