I ended up taking a job with Homeland Security Investigations, HSI. Government distrust is already at an all-time high. Myron Gaines, also known as Amru Foto. That's like my government name since everyone tries to say, you hide from your government name, which we're going to talk about that here in a second, why I don't use it. So my dad came to the United States somewhere in the 1970s, roughly. He's from Sudan. Both my parents are from Sudan.
Okay.
Well, North Sudan now. It used to be one country, Sudan, but then the Civil War tore it up. So they're from the northern part, the air part. He was a cab driver in New York City. growing up, my mom didn't work. And then when we moved to Connecticut, he worked as a security guard for a bit, then he ended up getting a job with with Connecticut Transit.
Okay, like, which is basically I think of it as like the public bus company. Yeah, for the state of Connecticut.
Okay. So I mean, do you have brothers and sisters?
Yeah, so I have a sister. She is in her residency right now to be a doctor. And then I have a little brother. He just graduated from college. He has, like, a sales job somewhere in Connecticut or anything, Southern Connecticut.
Okay, so, I mean, did you... So, I mean, ultimately, you end up with Homeland Security, like, when you were in high school. Like, was that, like, a goal? Did you think I'm... Or was it just I want to go into public service of some kind?
So I always knew I wanted to get into law enforcement. I think what really made me want to really get in to the feds was after 9-11, right? So I grew up in a Muslim household. My parents were Arab speakers, Muslim, etc., And, like, I just didn't like how the negative impact of how 9-11 made Muslim Arabs look or Muslims in general.
