What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

Kevin O'Leary 0:00
You know what stops you from being diversified? Greed. Greed. You always think, I'm so right, I'm going to bet the farm on this thing. And you're never right, because karma comes and spanks you like a baby seal.
Nicole Lapin 0:13
Kevin O'Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful, is the chairman of O'Leary Ventures and an OG shark who has never, ever met an opinion he would not say out loud. You might not agree with him on everything, and I certainly do. Not as you'll hear. I don't know, Kevin. I'm going to I'm going to push back on this one. But you cannot deny that he has interesting and entertaining takes on money. So he is back on money rehab. And we talk about his new stance on crypto, the stakes of the Clarity Act, which could get voted in or out any day now.
Kevin O'Leary 0:42
Unless the bill passes, it's stuck here. It's not going anywhere. Sixty, seventy thousand Bitcoin will go nowhere if that bill does not pass.
Nicole Lapin 0:49
Why the data center debate is so, so spicy.
Kevin O'Leary 0:51
You know how many lawsuits I've been hit with for just data centers?
Nicole Lapin 0:54
And we create a financial health checklist that gives you license to treat yourself. Or at least we try. I started this conversation by asking for a truce.
Kevin O'Leary 1:03
Oh, it didn't work.
Nicole Lapin 1:04
Shame on you. I will not be shamed. I'm Nicole Lapin, the only financial expert you don't need a dictionary to understand. It's time for some money right now.
No, no, no, no.
Nicole Lapin 1:22
Kevin O'Leary, welcome back to Money Rehab.
Kevin O'Leary 1:25
Great to be back. Love this place.
Nicole Lapin 1:27
I love when you're here, except for the fact that this time you did not bring your little friend.
Kevin O'Leary 1:33
No.
Nicole Lapin 1:33
You did not bring the Lububu back.
Kevin O'Leary 1:35
No, I didn't. Lububu is no longer with me. It died a tragic death. It hung off my bag until it just looked so ratty that I think a dog stole it. So, plus I was going into some crazy meetings internationally with not everybody gets it. Like, the boo-boos aren't as hot as you would think in let's say zurich you know that kind of thing or uh yeah or you know uae wasn't quite hip with it so you know it caused more friction than excitement i mean you have a lot of shtick going on like you have the gold jacket and the lobster necklace and the two red watches and the labubu but i will remind you that last time you were here i offered you
Nicole Lapin 2:16
$5 million for the Labubu, and you turned it down.
Kevin O'Leary 2:18
Yeah, that was probably a mistake, but I think I've done quite well since that offer on other things, controversial stuff. You know, I think, and this is controversial itself, people say, why are you such a social media whore? And I say, I'm advertising my entrepreneurs every day. I am reducing their customer acquisition costs, and I'm increasing their return on ad spend. That's what I do. I invest in them and I do everything in my power to get their story out there on every media there is. And you are part of that. I mean, this thing's very successful in case you didn't know.
Unknown 2:56
Thank you so much.
Kevin O'Leary 2:57
And so I wouldn't be here. I would not be here if I was going to waste my time. I'm being honest with you. This would not be something I would do unless I thought I would get something out of it, you'd get something out of it, and my entrepreneurs would get something out of it. That's being honest.
Nicole Lapin 3:11
So you're a self-professed social media whore.
Kevin O'Leary 3:14
Yes. Thank you. Very proud of it. Pretty good at it too. And I think you kind of fall in that category too, by the way.
Nicole Lapin 3:20
Are you calling me a social media whore?
Kevin O'Leary 3:22
I think you're on social media. I didn't say you were a whore, but you're out there.
Nicole Lapin 3:25
I mean, I think that what you bring up is a very important point when you're doing it strategically and you're investing in companies, you're not only putting your actual money to get equity, but if you have sweat equity or value that you can add on top of that, then you're only increasing your own investment.
Kevin O'Leary 3:40
And it's measurable. So what matters to our team, and I say team because even since I saw you last, it's doubled in size. We try and optimize engagement. If we have a story to tell, we want as many people to hear it as we can because it's very noisy out there. There's a lot of competition for people's minds and eyeballs and time.
