It's not helpful in her learning how to spell the word school.

We were talking actually on the way home from the road trip yesterday about how I'd quite like the boys and us to do like a te reo, like cultural course over here or something to immerse them in sort of that culture because Carlos asked me the other day, how do you actually pronounce Māori? Like that almost, he probably wouldn't ask that if we're living in New Zealand, but you know, he's probably a bit, we've been away from home for three years from the New Zealand and the Māori culture. And then a point of that was Rico's like, mom, it's pretty hard to learn a language now. And I was like, no, it's not. Don't have that attitude.
I know, but the English language is so hard. This teaching. I mean, I get that they just like learn the different things and then it just clicks, but it is, it is hard. I don't know how you were a teacher. I don't know how to be. I don't know how teachers be teachers. I've got a couple of points.
First of all, I'm not going to try and talk the way Rico would talk because he doesn't sound like that. And when I listen back to the pod sometimes and I speak like one of the boys, I don't like it. Second of all, teaching, I was never a very good new entrant teacher. I think the new entrant teachers have the hardest job because they are teaching how to, like, obviously Nina is not new entrant. She's now seven nearly. Seven? Yeah. Nearly seven, yeah. And I think, her age is quite a good age to teach because they've kind of got the initial sounding sounds but five-year-olds so so tricky um to teach them that kind of stuff but a lot of the time it's repetition so you you'll bring home a reader and you'll think oh my gosh he knows how to read that but it's memory and it's and it yeah memory helps with the whole um learning what the word looks like and oh yeah i've seen that word before and then that kind of helps um
the, the sort of gateway into learning how to read and write, but very difficult job, a new entrant teacher, I believe.
