Chapter 1: What new Amazon module affects items with high return rates?
If your item has high returns, you've got a problem because there's this new module that Amazon has released that is going to kill your sales. My name is Steven Pope. I'm the founder of My Amazon Guy. And take a look at this. I just made this post on LinkedIn the other day. It's already got a lot of engagement. 12,000 people have seen it.
And essentially what happens is if your item has a high return, at the top of the detail page, a new module has appeared showing three alternatives with supposedly lower returns that customers typically keep. Here's another example with this one right here. Open this up in the new tab so you can see it. We'll expand that. And so frequently returned due to, and they fill in the reason.
So color issues with this one, similar curtains customers keep, and it shows three alternatives. Ironically, price could be a thing here, very similar in pricing. So you can see that there's $39 to $35 on the price there underneath all that. And so this is a really interesting thing. I actually think this is good for customers.
So when Amazon makes a change that is good for customers, I think that it's beneficial for the whole landscape.
Chapter 2: How does the new module impact sales for Amazon sellers?
For example, when Amazon started to get rid of the incentivized reviews, that was great for customers. I honestly think they're going to get rid of Vine pretty soon because Vine's a piece of garbage program that doesn't add any value. And the reviews are at 4.1 star average anyway, which is 0.3 lower than the average star rating that regular customers leave. Anyway, so there's these new modules.
If you have high returns, it's going to be the kiss of death. If this module shows up on your listing and it's going to be really hard for you to fix. So that means you got to focus on ways to lower your returns, title images, packaging, having an insert that if you have a problem with this, please contact us. We'll give your money back. Guaranteed. No problem. Maybe even returnless, uh,
so that people don't return the item to Amazon, they get their money back, and it doesn't cause a module to show up killing your sales. This is the kiss of death. So I'm trying to go on some live listings right now to see if I can find additional examples.
I did come across this one on another bike client, frequently returned due to poor fit, and the module is not populated in this particular example. So I do think it's interesting. There might be AB testing different things to see what customers prefer. But I do think that the module example is a good, good, good addition for Amazon. We don't know yet what's causing the trigger point.
Like what's the bright line. So let's say the average category return is 10%. Your item is 15. Is that when the module shows up? We don't know yet. I would venture to guess that if it's 2X or more, definitely going to show up. If it's 50% more, it might show up. That's just a guess on my part, kind of putting my finger in the air.
If this module shows up on your listing, it is going to crush your sales overnight. 30% to 50% sales crush immediately, most definitely. So you got to avoid this. You got to get your returns on lock going into 2026 right now. If you need help with your sales on Amazon, check us out at myamazonguy.com.
