Chapter 1: How can price tracking tools help buyers on Amazon?
There's a feature that Amazon buyers have always appreciated, and that's price tracking on Amazon.com. My name's Steven Pope. I'm the founder of My Amazon Guy. And I've done a video on this before with Camel, Camel, Camel. But what you may not know is this feature is now being embedded inside of Amazon, your seller app on your mobile phone.
So first, I want to show you what Camel does, because I think it's important for people to realize that this has been around for eight, maybe even 10 years. So here, uh, you can put in an ACE and you can type the link in and you can see the price history and you can see it over time. Right? So price right now, 29 99. It used to be at 35 back in June.
Chapter 2: What are the limitations of Camel Camel Camel for price tracking?
Uh, I do think that this is old information because if we go to, uh, this listing right here, you can clearly see it's at 1799. So here is one disadvantage of the current Camel Camel Camel software. I think that there's a challenge here. You can see it's got June 15th, 2025. I don't know why this particular one isn't showing up. I'm going to try another one just because I'm curious now.
And here is the second example with the last time they checked it in 2023. So this is interesting. So maybe Camel, Camel, Camel has been defunct, which... By the way, it makes sense.
Chapter 3: How does the Keepa tool enhance Amazon price tracking?
Amazon doesn't want them scraping their price history anyway. There's a tool called Keepa that you can do this live on the listing as well. And then if you're also on this listing right here, you can check the price history over time to see how the price is done over time. So here you can just type in, click the Rufus button, type in price history.
It'll show you over the last 90 days what it looks like. The challenge, though, is on the desktop version, you can't set up a price alert. So if you type in set up a price alert, it'll give you an error message that it's only available on mobile. So I'm going to demo that on my mobile as well, just to give you guys kind of an idea what to expect, how to use it.
There's a lot of various ways that people are doing price checking when they go shopping on Amazon, because, you know, you got all those... different promotions, whether it's Black Friday or Labor Day or whatever it is, all of them claim that it's a good deal and you got this coupon, but lo and behold, you check the price history.
Chapter 4: What features does Amazon Rufus offer for price alerts?
It's not, it's just bait and switch. So that's the challenge. That's why you have to do this as a savvy buyer. And unfortunately, AI is too dumb to tell me I can't set a price alert on desktop until I tell it to set the price alert. Previously, I just set up a price alert and said, cool, I can do that. What would you like to be notified at?
And then when you tell it to do it, oh, you got to do that inside of the mobile app. So that's my challenge with AI, Rufus, et cetera, today on Amazon. This is Helium 10 and their data. So you can see that the price here has been static every day for the past year with that green line right there.
Chapter 5: How does Helium 10 provide insights on product demand?
This is very convenient. There are all kinds of other options. Chrome and related extensions you can install. So if you don't use Helium 10, you might wanna check out the Camelizer extension, which is available right here, might be free. I haven't used that one, but it does the same thing that the Helium 10 one does, which I do pay for.
The other thing I like about this is it shows me the sales rank. So you can see it's pretty consistent. in that range. It's not going up, it's not going down. Quite frankly, my own purchases may be affecting the sales rank as I make my own purchases here.
Chapter 6: What are the benefits and drawbacks of Amazon's new price alert feature?
I've bought this, let's see, seven times in the past year or so. Really like this candy, by the way. It's a high shoe premium from Japan. Expensive, but just kind of a delicacy for me. I really appreciate it myself. All right, so let's dive over into the mobile phone. So on my mobile phone, I just went to the listing.
I clicked the Rufus icon, which is in the bottom right on the Android, and I typed in set up a price alert for $15. So it was currently $18, set up for price alert $15. It comes with some pre-related radio button icons that say negative 5, negative 10, negative 15. And then you can even hit an auto buy when it hits down to that, which is really cool.
That's the reason why you might want to use the app on a phone versus... use it on like a Helium 10 extension, Camelizer extension, Keep extension, whatever it might be. It's the auto buy function that I think is really valuable. The only downside is, is this alert will only stay active for one year. which means anything you set up with this year in 2026, you got to reset up next year.
That stinks. I, you know, if I'm going to set up a price alert, it's because I'm into this item for like five years, right? It's not just a one year thing for me, unless I'm waiting for that toy to hit the Christmas rush. price drop down at the last minute. I guess that's possible. So you might have a reason you want to check that out.
But as a consumer, there's a lot of ways to check out pricing. Make sure you're not getting gouged when they do promotions and claiming it's a promotion, but it's really a price hike with a coupon on top of it. You get the idea.
