Chapter 5: What was the impact of the flood on Ghostface's music?
Did Wallabies ever approach you early on about a partnership? Because, I mean, you were the reason why everybody in the hood started with Wallabies. Man, listen, man. They's blowing smoke. They fronted on me. You know what I mean? So we met. Yeah. But it was like, you know, they was trying to, you know, treat me like a crackhead. So... It's like, it just didn't work. You know what I mean?

And then I guess they caught wind and sink the sails just skyrocketed. They reached out, but it was like, yo, they came in from England. You know what I mean? They ain't going nowhere.
What drew you to that style, though? When was the first time you saw a Wallaby in Staten Island?
Chapter 6: How did Ghostface navigate the challenges of sample clearances?
when the Jamaicans was going crazy. They was like, what was that? That was probably like 86. 85, 86. I saw the first pair of Wallabies. And then, you know, after a while, where I'm from, they just, the Jamaicans was like, they was moving a lot of drugs out there and stuff like that. But that's all they had was like, soft skin, big truck jury, Wallabies. You know what I mean?
So I came to like, taking a liking to them shits. And nice to come out here to Canal Street, And, you know, just scraped me a pit, whatever the case may be. And, um, yeah. And it just, it just, you know, when even by the time we got to the, um, Tree Willink skit, that Blue and Cream skit, you know what I mean?
It was like, yo, when I had visions of like dying and Blue and Cream and you listen to the skit, you see what I'm talking about. It was like from there, it was on, it was on from there. Yeah, I'll tell you, they're still on Van Duser, the Jamaicans and Haitians. They're still on Van Duser right now. I don't know if you've been over there lately. Yeah, they're still over there.
Those are the real joints.
Chapter 7: What memorable experiences does Ghostface share about performing with Beyoncé?
You got to make sure they're made from England, not Taiwan, not China, and all the other stuff, because it's a different shoe. Yeah, the material's different. Definitely. So talk to us about how did the whole, you know, what everything Mass Appeal did this year with the Legacy series. Yeah. How did the first conversation happen and what was your take on it?
Were you like kind of like apprehensive about doing it or was it like, I'm all in? Yeah. It's a full Nas pitch or how'd it go? For the comic book or just me being on Mass Appeal period? Mass Appeal period.
Oh yeah.
It's like Peter kept, he kept reaching out like throughout the years. It was like, I don't know, like six years ago, seven years ago. You know what I mean? He threw it up in the air, you know, and we kept just going back and forth. Then after a while, it was like maybe like a two-year gap, and he'd come back again, and we'd talk, whatever the case may be. But it wasn't the right time.

Chapter 8: How does Ghostface view the evolution of R&B and its influence on his music?
You know, God is the master of all time. You know what I mean? So it's never on my time. It's on his time. You know what I mean? And that was it. So, you know, he came back again. And it was like, you know what? In order for me to give you Supreme, I got to do two albums because that's why I just set the tone. It was setting the tone for Supreme.
It just didn't have that much promotion as this album Supreme. You know what I mean? So it took a while. You know what I mean? And then I'm like, yo, Nas... First of all, that's my favorite rapper. That's my brother. You know what I mean? And he's my favorite rapper anyway. Like, I'd rather do business with somebody I could get hit and, you know, have a relationship, I got a relationship with.
You know what I mean? Because I could look at you and be like, yo, son, this is that and this and that. You're going to either see it how we see it or not. You know what I mean? So I was grateful. I was grateful. Like, just to be... Just staying with them in these days and times. Like, you know what I mean? It was a beautiful feeling. So it was dope. Who was the first to agree?
Because that's what I was curious about that conversation. Like, was De La already on board? Was Alchemist and Havoc already on board? Did they pitch it that way? Like, this is what we're trying to do in 2025. I don't think so. I don't think so. I think...
I think they came a little bit after the comic, because when I did, with Supreme, when Set the Tone came out, we already, I inked the deal for both of them. Yeah. Already. Like, you know what I mean? For Set the Tone and Supreme. I don't think nobody but Nas was on the label. Got you. Okay. You know what I mean? They did documentaries, but I don't think nobody else was there. I'm not sure.
I heard about Slick raking them late on. Yeah. Was there any pressure? calling it Supreme Clientele 2, just based off the first one being. I just had to be careful. You know what I'm saying? It was like, cause I see people do a lot of part twos. Same. I'm not really into part twos. Neither am I. You know what I mean?
You being one of my favorite rappers, I was nervous when I saw the title.
I was like, all right. But I know that I can do it. What are we doing? Because it just depends on the beat and the frame of mind. Yeah, okay. But I don't got a bunch of yes cats around me that's going to say yes to everything I do. And I start with me first. So, you know, and my past albums from Iron Man and Supreme, Fish Scale and all that, I know how to do these kind of albums. Yeah.
You know what I mean? I just give me some time and give me some beats. But what it is nowadays, you don't got... people that really could get, that really makes those kind of beats that move me, like back then. You know what I mean? Like, they was just sending me trap beats and all this and this and that and the third, but it's cool, but it's not the, yeah, this ain't the formula.
