We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes, we would pull up their schools, would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win is a bottle of Goldschlager. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it.

Chapter 2: What was Donovan McNabb's experience like on draft night?

612.702 - 627.868 Mal

And so I didn't know the dynamic of, you know, the NFC East and, you know, all of that at that particular point. And having the draft at Madison Square Garden, you know, you would think there are a lot of Giants fans. There are a lot of fans there in general.

628.169 - 648.906 Mal

The funny thing about me and my family, we laugh at about a lot of different stuff. So when my name was called during the introduction, you know, when they introduced all of us that were back in the green room, there were slight boos then. And so when I came back in the green room with my family, me and my brother, we just started cracking up. And I looked at my dad.

0

648.946 - 667.206 Mal

He was like, what was going on out there? I'm like. I thought they were booing, but, you know, he was like, booing who? I'm like, booing me. But I don't know. I mean, you know, if that's the case, that's on them. And so when my name was called on actual TV, that's when the camera kind of panned to the Philadelphia fans. Oh, okay. And they booed.

0

667.547 - 679.129 Mal

And if you see my face, that's when it became personal. Because now I didn't I thought they booed in the introduction, but now they booed while the TV cameras are rolling.

679.149 - 679.369 Unknown

Right.

679.389 - 683.898 Mal

And so if you go back to the film, like I'm growing in Chicago, it's cold.

684.219 - 684.399 Unknown

Yeah.

684.419 - 696.557 Mal

I put the baseball hat on. I bend it up and I put it down. And so, you know, at that particular time, Paul Tagliabue, you know, he would lift my hat up just so they could see my face. And I would grab it, bring it back down again.

Chapter 3: How did growing up in Chicago influence McNabb's career?

1201.615 - 1223.967 Mal

And so, you know, in the NBA at that particular point, because football, when we played at home games or travel, we wore suits and wore sportswear. The game changed in the NBA where they had to dress. It was a dress code if you didn't play, you sit on the sideline. And then they bought that, and that's when AI and all of them started wearing sweatsuits and all of that stuff, so. Yeah.

0

1224.087 - 1250.824 Mal

Do you have any great AI or Kobe stories? Kobe and I went golfing in California. It was actually a weird time because that was when Michael Jackson passed away. We were all on the golf course together, me and him just talking. We kind of stayed in contact. And then my oldest daughter, I believe she may have been one or two years older than Gigi. And so we both coached club girls basketball.

0

1251.305 - 1267.448 Mal

And we got a chance to be in a couple of tournaments together and sit down and talk and just talk about the future of where women's basketball is at that particular point. So unfortunately, what happened to Kobe will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Absolutely.

0

1267.698 - 1289.583 Mal

And just what his impact, like I mentioned, his impact not only in the men's game, but also the women's game as well, of what he transcended for a lot of these young girls that are now going into the collegiate level and coming out of it. So for him and me and AI, we had so much fun together anyway in Philadelphia.

0

1290.183 - 1311.447 Mal

What he was doing across the street over with the Sixers and then coming over, what we were doing. at that particular time when they went to the World Championship playing against the Lakers. I think we went to the Super Bowl that year. The Phillies were winning at that particular time. So Philadelphia was a hotbed for a couple years. Y'all had Philly on fire. Y'all had Philly on fire for sure.

1311.467 - 1340.197 Mal

I mean, Petey Segal, Petey Crane. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The early 2000s for Philly was, yeah. Philly was on fire. So we just had the NFL draft a couple months ago. And obviously the big news coming out was Shador Sanders dropping to the fifth round. Now, you know, I attribute you to... The a lot of the reason why the NFL quarterback position looks the way it looks today.

1340.698 - 1358.472 Mal

Obviously, a lot of these guys grew up watching you and know who you are and saw a lot of your games. How did you feel watching that? Like what was what was your mindset and how did you feel about seeing Shador, you know, and just and Coach Prime having to deal and go through that situation?

1359.515 - 1383.457 Mal

And as not an evaluator, you know, ever since I left the game, you know, obviously being a part of the media and being on that side of it and knowing from both sides of it, I felt like he would drop. You know, after Cam Ward, there were a few teams that needed quarterbacks at that particular point. I didn't think they were great landing spots for him.

1384.237 - 1407.08 Mal

And after, I think it might have been New Orleans, I think at eight or nine, Everybody was banking on Pittsburgh in, I think, 21. And... everybody's saying, well, Mike Tomlin don't take you, you know. Mike is a guy that's always going to reach out and try to help our community, you know, with black quarterbacks. So you look at the roster in which he's had since he's been there.

Chapter 4: What challenges did McNabb face as a rookie quarterback?

2628.059 - 2656.722 Mal

You got to go beans. You gave us beans already. Yeah. I mean, but that's hard because, you know, you got beans, you got beans freeway. Yeah. Always, always got to put Eve in there. Cause she changed the game for the, for the females in the rap game. Um, you know, uh, that's, that's the next, next two is kind of hard. Um, But he said state property, so that covers a lot.

0

2656.742 - 2671.459 Mal

Yeah, so that kind of throws at least four. Yeah. And you were gone by the time Meek Price showed up, right? Yeah. Well, Meek actually, I was toward the out. I was on my way out. But my brother worked with Meek. But Meek is definitely in that top five, obviously. I see representing Philly.

0

2672.52 - 2699.753 Mal

You know, because when it comes to old school, like, you know, Will Smith and all of them, if you want to put Will Smith in that group. But what Will Smith did just kind of on both angles, you know, changed, added a little bit more to the game. Do your kids like Uzi? You know what? I mean, I don't know what they listen to sometimes. You know, because it's not so much of the lyrics.

0

2699.793 - 2702.198 Mal

Like when we used to look at Nas, Jay-Z.

0

2702.379 - 2702.76 Unknown

Yeah.

2702.8 - 2724.654 Mal

Like, you know, all back in at that time. Like we were about lyrics, comment. Yeah. Now it's just like you got to have a catchy hook and a beat. That's it. Because some of the stuff, I don't think they open up their mouth to something like that. It's beyond mumble rap now. Back in the day, you had the mumble rap. Now it's no rap. Just don't even say no shit.

2725.095 - 2749.626 Mal

Did anyone try to rap in the locker room? I mean, you had some freestyle sessions, but it wasn't prevalent like that. You know, it wasn't like we had one guy that can drop some bars. Like some people, you try to push them to rap because you know it's going to be stupid. You know, it's one of those guys like you have somebody read, but you know he really can't read like that. Yeah.

2750.388 - 2753.053 Mal

So let's make him rap. Let's make him rap.

2753.073 - 2754.336 Rory

Some rookie hazing for sure.

Chapter 5: What is McNabb's perspective on the transfer portal and NIL in college sports?

3181.086 - 3212.791 Mal

I'm flyer than Robin. I'm flyer than an eagle. Yeah, Donovan McNabbin. Do you know what rapper that is? These are Philly rappers? No, it's just across the board, rappers in general. No, who's that? Oh, the Barbz are going to kill you. That's Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj. Is it? Yeah. What song was that? Shakin' It For Daddy. Pause. I'm just, I answered your question. You asked me a question.

0

3212.812 - 3232.474 Mal

I answered it. Donovan turned around. He made sure wifey wasn't walking in the room. Like, wait, what? Okay. I definitely had to look that up. It's Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj. Oh, okay. So you get some R&B there. Robin was popping back. Okay. I don't know if I'm going to type this, taking it for daddy.

0

3234.631 - 3236.653 Unknown

Yeah, you don't feel right typing that in.

0

3237.294 - 3263.203 Mal

I don't know what may pop up. It would definitely fuck with your algorithm, for sure. All right, another one. When we met you, was a V like Madonna. Now you in the field running plays like Donovan, McNabb, before you get in the cab. Oh, yay. Kanye, talk about our love. From the crib. Absolutely, absolutely. I don't know what's happening now, but from the crib.

0

3263.791 - 3293.646 Mal

he was at the crib at one point yeah um all you take the next one just based off the lyrical content in there all right last one um there's some words that i probably just i don't know i got you i got you yeah i got you and i rock my rag like it's 88 and niggas still rocking shaft so put the hundreds in the bag or i'm gonna put the eagle to your helmet and the 50 a chest like donovan mcnatt was that a me

3295.027 - 3322.656 Mal

Was that me? No, that's the game. Whoa, that's from West Coast. 100 Bars and Running. Oh, okay. I'll definitely have to listen to that one. Yeah, no, you can type that in. That one you can type in. I mean, we have this one here. Is that like a remix of N.W.A. or something? It was on the 100 Bars and Running, which was like original disc to G-Unit. I think it was probably on the N.W.A.

3323.077 - 3323.177

beat.

3323.242 - 3346.351 Mal

Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I mean, this has his name in it, but one of my favorite Beanie Siegel songs, period. Yes. You know Siegel played with them Eagles. Maul, you can put that word there. Niggas don't get tagged. Throw bullets out. Them dirty birds like McNabb. Trying to go back and forth. We gave you a little back and forth on that last. My partner can't say that one, Donald. He can't say that one.

3346.471 - 3347.333 Mal

I can dig it.
