Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back At It podcast.
1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

Chapter 2: What miraculous shot did RJ Barrett make to force Game 7?
And he has exceeded any expectations of what he could deliver in his first playoff run. And then the question that mattered more than all of those questions was, is Scottie Barnes a legitimate franchise player in a postseason setting? The answer is yes. Now, I say that still looking at Scottie as, to me at least, not the guy that's like, we need two, man. Go get us a bucket.
He doesn't really do that. And he probably never will. But of course, defensively, he's a goddamn stud. And then offensively, he's asked to do so much. He's either like a power forward or center at times. And he's a point guard. And he's just making the right play after right plays. He's feeling comfortable. He obviously can bully ball so many guys.
He can get to his shot, which you're hoping that mid-range is feeling and dropping. And then he's just playmaking is unreal. Like his ability to dump the ball in and around the rim is crazy. And he's reading everything right now. Feels like the game has slowed down. So he is. He is. I think he's proven it here that he is, of course, like he's a guy you can build a franchise around.
So that's awesome. That's awesome for Raptors fans, I think. Still a lot of things around the edges that they need to work out, whether they win or lose this series, but that's good to know. And obviously the CMB part is really exciting too. Wow. Okay. So that was that game. Let me take a quick pause here to drink some coffee and maybe look at the comments.

Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor IV. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.

Chapter 3: How has Scottie Barnes proven himself as a franchise leader?
I don't want to be here anymore, which is disappointing for the young Rockets players. to watch Marcus Smart and LeBron James, you know, out-hustling them. Like they're the ones trailing in the series. That's a tough look. And, you know, again, these are the youthful, in theory, Rockets versus the older Lakers. And the Lakers were the one playing with the urgency.
And LeBron, he understands the assignment.
um he wasn't definitely not going to be the first team to give up a 3-0 lead as much as the internet started buzzing about it right oh could you imagine can you imagine this is lebron's final playoff series and he is the one leading a team that gives up a 3-0 lead no no no he had uh his probably most impactful stretch there uh of the series he scored 14 points in the second quarter
set the tone for the entire group just like he's done hundreds of times before and they built the lead in the first half there's a ton of game left as we just saw in the Pistons Magic game but LA came out firing on all cylinders in the second half they put the game away at the start of the second half it was done goodbye Houston enjoy the beach LeBron scored on the first possession.
Rui Hachimura knocked down a three. Austin Reeves, obviously, you know, rounding into form a little bit more. He scored a basket. LA's up by 20. Good night. Especially on a night where nobody could score for the Rockets. In fact, I saw this tweet from Chris Steed. There have been approximately 7,000 total playoff games in NBA, ABA history.
Orlando, Houston, and Atlanta just accounted for three of the top five worst offensive halves in NBA history within a 24-hour time frame. Pretty mind-boggling. At one point, Houston had shooting splits in a game six, must-win game six, that looked like... 27, 21, and 60.
They were shooting 27% from the floor, even worse from three, and a hilarious 60%, which looks good to those other numbers from the free throw line. Reed Shepard missed 15 to 19 shots. He was one to 10 from deep. And the three ball obviously disappeared for Houston after pretty good shooting in games, what, four and five, where they hit 26 combined threes. They made five on Friday night.
And so pair that bad shooting with just sort of being outplayed, like out hustled by the older Lakers. was a recipe for disaster. And that's how we got to this brutal, brutal game six flame out here for Houston. And the Lakers, again, the Rockets shot poorly, but I want to make it clear that the Lakers made that all matter because they took care of the ball in game six.
They limited second chance opportunities because they did a really good job, I thought, of keeping the Rockets off the offensive glass. They just did all the little things and everybody chipped in. You're led by LeBron against setting the tone and they ran away with it. In the end. So they'll take on the Thunder. I don't think Luke is coming back, right? That's what they're sort of saying.

Chapter 4: What role did team dynamics play in the Raptors' success?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, the lone sweep in the first round while all these other series go 6-7. So, yeah, we'll see. We'll see. Again, we'll make predictions for that early next week. But congrats to the Lakers for advancing. I think most of us agree the series ended at the end of Game 3 when Rocket should have won the game. And they blew it. They coughed it up.
They fouled a three-point shoot. They just did all... They did, like, four boneheaded mistakes in... to hand the game over to the Lakers. And that was an overtime one, right? Maybe one of those perfect examples. It was. It was one of the perfect examples of like, oh my God, what? Now we gotta play five more minutes and it's already over. So some choking there from the Rockets in that one.
And yeah. You know, at least they made it a series, you could say. But that's when it ended. When they went down 3-0, of course. Because no teams ever come back. There's good reason. These are good teams in the playoffs, even if they have stinker halves here or there. But to beat them four times in a row? Woo! Tough to do that in the regular season. So, let's set it up. The weekend, baby.
Looking fun. Here, put my fingers up. We have one game seven tonight. Sixers, Celtics in Boston, the Beantown boys. They're trying to close out that one. They were up 3-1. Is this a rut row? And B looking good. You know, they're obviously playing free and easy right now. It's like, ah, nobody believed in us. Can the Sixers pull this off on the road again and win in Boston?
And then on Sunday, two game sevens, one in Detroit and one, of course, in Cleveland with the Raptors. Oh my God, the Raptors getting the prime time Sunday night game. Don't let us down, boys. At least make it entertaining. I hope that one more than all of them are at least close, obviously, because I'm a Raptors fan. All right. So that's all I got for you. I had to jump on.
I said if we got enough likes on Friday's drop, there were enough shares, I would do it. I didn't even check. I was lying. You guys knew I was always going to do this. Especially after those games.
