Chapter 2: How does the trade affect the Minnesota Timberwolves' strategy?
Are they better today? Are they a contender? I think they are a better team, better squad in there than what Julius Randall offered this past off season. And again, he's in his early thirties. And they had to do something. You could definitely criticize Tim Connolly for moving on from Carl Anthony Towns two years ago if we want to go back in that direction for going to get Julius Randle.
That was all about money. And this definitely about money as well. But it's also just about the locker room and the chemistry there. So they had to move on. And I think it's a smart move. I think it'll be a smart move if they do something. And I'm interested to see what they're doing because they've been chasing after this second legitimate co-star next to Anthony Edwards.
It has been Kevin Durant was a guy they wanted in the past. They tried to get into the Giannis sweepstakes. It doesn't seem like it's happening, but clearly they've got their eyes on somebody. And that's kind of exciting for us. Emergency podcast wise. Who's next? The Nets or the Bulls? Well, does that mean, obviously Nas Reed has got a big role now to fill in, but Jaden McDaniels does as well.
When Jaden McDaniels was able to eliminate the Denver Nuggets in that closeout game, I know you gave him the connection to Kawhi Leonard in that game. He looked great in that one game, yeah. I think, are you more likely to say Nas Reed can take a bigger step for this team, or Jaden McDaniels can take a bigger step for this team? It has to be McDaniels, honestly.
I mean, Nasbury needs to be a better defensive player. He needs to rebound next to Gobert, but they need... to take a step forward as a score and they need Anthony Edwards to take a step forward as a playmaker because that's something they're going to really miss out on with Julius Randle. He was maybe their best creator for others in the starting lineup. So I don't know.
Like I said, I don't think that the core that is left behind is good enough to compete as is in the Western Conference. Throw in Jalen Brown, if they can get in on that, maybe so. Throw in Kyrie Irving, maybe then we're talking. I don't know. But as is, that's like maybe a home court advantage team. Yeah, well, obviously the Thunder and the Spurs are definitely the crown of the crop.
Yeah, sure.
But I mean, like, exactly. Like, I'm like, the Nuggets have a solid starting lineup.
Mm-hmm.

Chapter 3: What role will Nick Claxton play for the Chicago Bulls?
We're going to try it for a couple of years. I mean, they don't give up a lot and they get him to play around with for a couple of years and see if Diego Splitter can motivate this guy who is super young. He's semi young. He's 27 years old. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Super young, I guess is a strong way to put it. They got to pay somebody. They got to play somebody. Do I hate it?
No, but will he live up to anything now? Will he be better than Patrick Williams? Of course he's going to be your starting center. Uh, The Bulls literally didn't have a center, so this is good. Getting him for nothing, 23 and 21 million when you're paying basically Giddy, Patrick Williams, and rookies. You can afford this on Nick Claxton, who I'm with you.
He has not been very good for the Nets basically since the Durant, Irving, James Harden trio broke up. That was the last time we heard from Nick Claxton. He hasn't been a great center since, but the Bulls were playing Nick Richards, Gershon Yabusele. Zach Collins, like some of the worst centers that are sticking around in the NBA.
So they get this guy at 27 years old, set a screen, roll to the hoop. Guinea's a good setup, man. He'll get you some easy dunks and be at least a defensive interior presence for a team that had literally nothing inside at the end of last year. They gave up nothing to get in on this. Very cool. Good job by the Bulls.
Yeah, and they still have $30 million in salary cap room so they can go sign another player if somehow they're attracted to the Chicago scene, but it just feels like, it's going to be what you just said was Giddy and Patrick Williams. I shouldn't even say Patrick Williams. I mean, that's not, that's not the excitement. He's still going to be there. He's still going to be there. Don't you worry.
No, it's going to be the exciting parts are Giddy, Booz Ellis and draft pick. Who is that draft pick going to be? Nick Clarkson can run with those guys. Bulls might have like the skinniest team in the league. At this rate. Buzellas has no fat on his body. Nick Claxton has skin and bones. Caleb Wilson, he's got a little bit of girth to him, but not a huge guy.
And Giddey, you know, he's solidly built, I suppose. Yeah, this is going to be a season of hope for the Chicago Bulls fans. And I mean, they're going to sell that. It's going to be sold as that. You got a number four pick coming. You have Matas Buzellas. And, you know, beyond that, I mean, it's a couple guys to say, hey, go do this. And that's all it's going to be.
I say that there's $30 million in cap room, but I don't think they're going to make a big splash at all. And the names aren't incredibly big anyway. I highly doubt they're overpaying for somebody. to come along and save the day. That's the team. And the team you're describing to me sounds like maybe the eighth to 10th worst team in the NBA.
And I think that's completely the plan because that's where you get the most lottery balls now. Yeah. Draft time. Yep. So good job by the Bulls. They have a competent guy who plays center now. That's exciting. And it feels like they're making all good moves right now. I'm getting a little bit too excited about Bryson Graham.

Chapter 4: What does Julius Randle's addition mean for the Brooklyn Nets?
His moms were still up in that apartment. Noms was just beginning to take off. His pops used to live near me in Harlem. His dad introduced him to a whole lot of, you know, conscious stuff, and he made a young prodigy.

Mainstream media is full of cruel depictions of the unhoused, stories that shame and blame and paint the unhoused as a monolith. We The Unhoused is the podcast that's changing that. I'm Theo Henderson, creator and host, and for years I've created a space where the unhoused and their advocates can tell their own stories. In the last few months alone, I've interviewed unhoused parents,
immigrants, mutual aid organizers, veterans, the LGBTQTIA plus community, and the policymakers who make the laws that impact the unhoused existence. We The Unhoused is a two-time Webby and Signal Award-winning show with many exciting guests on the horizon.
Tune in this week for my interview with Dr. Jill Wichler, a street doctor turned influencer whose work with the unhoused community has made a huge impact online and in her community. Listen to Weezy and Howes on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
How about the Nets? Adding Julius Randle to the mix with Michael Porter Jr. You like it? It's so funny with them. He's automatically their 1A, 1B player. They also have to pay guys. Like the Bulls, they're way below the salary cap floor even. So why not take on some talent?
This is different for the Brooklyn Nets because they just wanted to have first round pick after first round pick after first round pick. They did that. It didn't work out. So they're bringing in a guy to help out. Do I like it? You know, are they going to be better than the Chicago Bulls? Probably. I mean, is it a lock? I don't know. Interesting.
I mean, okay, the Bulls got to 31 wins last year, but they were trying in the first half of the season. Nets got to 20 wins. It's going to be pretty close. I think you're going to, it's going to be pretty close. I think you would have to favor the Nets. I think they'll have a higher over under, but yeah, the Nets, their first round pick is swapped with Houston for next year.
So they don't have a lot of incentive to be the worst team in the league. There's also less incentive to be the worst team in the league now. And the Nets, even when they were tanking their hardest, couldn't get to worst team in the league status. Thanks to Jordy Fernandez. He was too good of a coach. They had to trade every good player away.

Chapter 5: How does this trade impact the Timberwolves' salary cap situation?
Well, look, you make a good case for the Timberwolves, and I can't say they're a loser until we see what they do with the space they're given. But if they do something, I think they can come out of this deal as a winner because I'm with you. The fit with Randall was never perfect. He can be upgraded, and if they're able to upgrade, they definitely get the winner.
But obviously, the Bulls are a winner here, getting Nick Claxton for free. Do you know he once finished ninth in Defensive Player of the Year voting tests? Ninth. Nick Claxton. One time, he finished ninth. And now he's the starting center for the Bulls, and they got him for virtually free. So I'm giving them the winner. But for some reason, apparently the vote isn't going that way.
The Bulls are last in our poll here. And the people are with you saying the Wolves are winners at 40 plus percent. I can't believe that. Do they know about Nick Claxton finishing ninth? That must have been the year I loved him. Was that the year he led the league in field goal percentage at 70.5%? Yes, it was. Yeah, you're right.
He did lead the league in field goal percentage and finished ninth in defensive player of the year voting in the same season free for the Bulls. Many years later. Much higher paid. Seven seasons. Yeah, much higher paid, but again, a descending contract. Woo-hoo! Colton, thanks for coming by the stream. Thanks for saying hi.
See, I'm like, I'm liking to see a lot more number two votes coming in here. If we stay on longer tasks, I think we can get the bowls to winners because we're just going to roll back defensive highlights from Nick Claxton's ninth place finish in defensive player of the year voting.

Chapter 6: What are the potential implications for Anthony Edwards after the trade?
Remember it was 2023. He was switching on the perimeter. Oh, I'm going to drive by him? No, you're not. He's going to meet you at the rim. He's going to smack it away. That's a block. Kevin Durant got beat back door. That's okay. Nick Claxton's there. Nice, baby. Man, you're reliving your dreams from back then. You must have had some great memories. That must have been the year I loved him.
I loved him, too, because, yeah, you would think. So you said that was 23. That was his fourth year in the NBA. You'd think he would be 23. But that didn't happen for Slick Nick. Well, I mean, he ascended all the way to ninth. Not much higher you can go. Only a few more spots. But speaking of spots, we're going to be watching some spots tomorrow. Draft spots.
Come and join us for the No Dunks Watch Party. We're going to eat food, you know? Some have said pizza, some have said burgers. That's the hot rumor. Food will be eaten. Food will be eaten. Do you ever watch any of those videos where people show you that they're eating something from somewhere? It's just a hot thing. It's been going on for a while, but it's just like, I'm going to eat this thing.
Have a meal in a car? Yeah, usually it's a car, or it could be anywhere, and you just hear... You just hear somebody smacking on something, and I hate that. It's gross, but it happens. Are you a fan? Because maybe we can do this tomorrow on the live stream. Oh, we're going to be eating on stream for sure. We'll be eating that for sure. I think we're not like... Who was that?
Was that Christian Winfield? Or am I saying his name wrong? Who ate in... Brought wings into the press conference?
It might be us.
Yeah, but we kind of back away from the mic. We don't just... Yeah, we're polite eaters on stream for sure. You want to go savage mode tomorrow? Yeah, why not? Yeah, gross eating tomorrow for the draft in suits. And yeah, we are still waiting for the honest trade. Bill Simmons said it was going to happen tonight. Come on, man. Or tomorrow morning, he said, what do you think?
Call it right now, Tass. It's 1128 p.m. Eastern time. Will we be heading into the Classic Factory tomorrow? When we wake up tomorrow, will we be going into the Classic Factory? We will not know the anesthetic about trade. So, no, we won't be going in. I think, here we go. You know, a tiny bit of a conspiracy theory. Everything is getting pushed. Everything is getting pushed back.
as far as the honest trade goes to minutes before the draft. So it can be a hot, hot topic during the draft and people will tune in even more. So people are tuning in for the draft, but then you get the honest juice. Yeah. Why not? Why not do it tomorrow? Biggest draft ever is what it sounds like to me.
