0.031 - 3.556 Unknown

This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human.

10.265 - 37.311 J.E. Skeets

Good morning, sweet world! And welcome to the No Dunks Podcast presented by FanDuel. It's Monday, January 19th, 2026. Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in the U.S. NBA. Hoops taking center stage on a day dedicated to reflection service. and action. I'm J.E. Skeets, finally here in the Classic Factory and alongside me, it's my top shot hot boy, Trey Kirby. Heyo! Heyo!

0

37.331 - 67.012 J.E. Skeets

Over yonder, making the magic happen, super producer, J.D. Hello. There he is. Here we are. No tasks today. He was up in Canada, eh? Over the weekend. He'll return tomorrow, so don't you worry. Yesterday, though, January 18th, marked the official 20-year anniversary of this here podcast. And we shared a screen grab on socials of one of our first ever episodes. Our first episode, I should say.

0

67.433 - 91.672 J.E. Skeets

I guess one of our first websites. I just wanted to read a small part of our inaugural episode. Episode 001 of the Basketball Jones. In this week's inaugural show, J.E. Skeets and Tass Mellis discuss the Steve Francis suspension. Whether Shaq is helping or hurting the Miami Heat. The week that was for the Raptors. Who should be this year's West All-Star forwards?

0

91.692 - 96.939 J.E. Skeets

The wanker responsible for this, which is a hyperlink. Do you know what it is?

96.959 - 98.561 Trey Kirby

That doesn't go to anywhere.

98.662 - 116.065 J.E. Skeets

So I have no clue, TK. And much, much, much more. And then I guess I say Skeets struggles to pronounce Gasol. How do you think you said it? I don't know. Gasol? I don't know. Maybe. So that was the first ever episode, which we unfortunately don't even have.

116.085 - 116.386 JD

Yeah.

Chapter 2: How did Wemby and Ant's duel impact the NBA weekend?

116.726 - 141.4 J.E. Skeets

And we had like Young Pep Dash, Wublio Balls, Grandma Lana, like all the OG TBJ fans trying to find. Does anybody have this on an iPod somewhere? Somebody's got to have it. We couldn't locate it. The earliest episode we can find is 007. That we have. And we did, of course, release the pilot episode. We had that somehow last week.

0

141.44 - 141.961 Trey Kirby

007.

0

141.981 - 142.241 J.E. Skeets

Yeah.

0

143.523 - 155.857 Trey Kirby

It's got to be out there somewhere. I would think so. On an old drive, but finding drives, having the proper connections to your computer these days. Dongles have changed so much in the past 20 years.

0

156.418 - 181.423 JD

I've got three in front of me. that I digged out of storage. One of them I cannot fire up. Hard drives. Oh, you can't even get it working. Can't even get it working. Who knows what gold is on there? I know. Well, that's where I found Leica Bosch on this guy. Okay. Leica Bosch, we did post yesterday. We found some LA All-Star 2011, was it? 2012? Oh, wait, wait, wait.

181.443 - 185.456 J.E. Skeets

That means you have the infamous... Tass Mellis, super hungover.

Chapter 3: What was Ja Morant's performance upon his return?

185.497 - 188.703 J.E. Skeets

I don't have that interview with, uh, was it DeMar DeRozan?

0

189.325 - 191.93 JD

Yeah. Oh, that's, that's no season required.

0

192.171 - 193.353 Trey Kirby

Oh, phone.

0

194.035 - 202.112 JD

Yeah. Classic. That's right. That's, that's 2011, I guess. Uh, yeah, I'll have a look, but anyway, it's funny. Okay.

0

202.092 - 228.066 J.E. Skeets

uh well great work we did get like a bosh posted uh yesterday we have i believe we have the andrea barniani all-star campaign from way back in the day uh that's going to be posted this week because we located that i saw some people asking oh let's get that up well we found that one you'll see it you'll see it soon uh anyway to celebrate 20 years of this show 20 years guys oh my god i know when the three of us started this show 20 years ago i was just

229.244 - 231.406 Unknown

This guy wasn't even around.

231.426 - 233.768 J.E. Skeets

It's amazing. When did you even start listening to the show?

234.529 - 249.103 Trey Kirby

Definitely during this website era. I remember this website for sure. I don't know what this was launched on, but it's got the great comment section. I was definitely in the great comment section way back when. But that wasn't me. No beef for Benjamin. That wasn't me.

249.123 - 254.028 J.E. Skeets

Okay, good, yeah. Somebody noted yesterday, there's only two comments on the first ever show.

Chapter 4: How did Kevin Durant surpass Dirk Nowitzki in career points?

260.515 - 261.876 Trey Kirby

20 years later, still no.

0

261.896 - 289.166 J.E. Skeets

Yeah, I hope we answered that on episode two or three. To help celebrate, though, 20 years of No Dunks, we've teamed up with our good friends at Breaking Tea to release this limited edition 20th anniversary design. I really like that 20 years sort of No Dunks logo. Got a fun back to this one with the No Dunks classics in Atlanta, Georgia. And then an address. which is our actual mailing address.

0

289.206 - 314.242 J.E. Skeets

Our PO box is believe it or not, uh, Spalding drive. So go grab this tee. This is a limited edition t-shirt. It's going to be available for sale till the end of the month. So you got, you know, 20. So no, excuse me. You got like 10 or 11 days here. So it's a presale item again, running through the end of January and it will print and ship after that date, uh, January 31st at the end of the month.

0

314.342 - 327.471 J.E. Skeets

So, uh, Good stuff. Go to nodunks.com if you want to grab a 20-year anniversary shirt, which will only be available for a week and a half or so. Cool. Yeah. You played a big part in designing that one, TK.

0

327.752 - 342.736 Trey Kirby

Yeah. Sometimes it's nice to just throw some search terms into Google and see what comes up. 20th anniversary shirts. found a random pizza shop that had been open for 20 years, and it looked awesome. Let's try this with a basketball instead of a pizza. And guess what? It still looked awesome.

342.756 - 367.634 J.E. Skeets

It looks good. So again, nodunks.com for that. All right, we did have a wedgie on Friday night, and it once again involved Trey Kirby's Chicago Bulls, but Danny Wolf, hungry like a wolf, hungry like a wedgie, sticks it with the little help defense there on IO, and that is wedgie36.com. Pace remains high and good stuff. Also, Noah Eagle on the call on the Yes Network.

368.536 - 375.537 J.E. Skeets

He went nuts on that one because he was like, it's a block wedgie. It's a bledgie.

375.972 - 380.078 Trey Kirby

He said he'd never seen it before. I know. It is pretty rare. I mean, it happens.

Chapter 5: What challenges did the Atlanta Hawks face this weekend?

380.138 - 390.612 Trey Kirby

But, you know, these people aren't in the wedgie weeds quite as much as we are. But exciting. The Bulls have now tied the Kings for most wedgies this season. They both have six apiece.

0

390.912 - 413.811 J.E. Skeets

Yes, yes, yes. But the Bulls have been involved in games. Many. With six wedgies. The Kings actually, I think, have stuck. Six wedgies. So it is a little different. Okay. It is a little different. Step it up then. Yeah, yeah. That was our sixth block wedgie of the season, just so Noah Eagle knows. But yeah, I love the energy he brought to the wedgie on the call. All right, it's Monday here.

0

414.672 - 422.263 J.E. Skeets

So we do NBA weekend winners and losers. There's only two of us, so we can do a couple rounds of winners. You get us started. The table is yours.

0

422.723 - 444.006 Trey Kirby

Yeah, there's just two of us here at a table. It feels like an epic duel between me and you. Take for take. And there's nothing I love more than an epic duel. We got one on Saturday in San Antonio. Anthony Edwards versus Victor Wembanyama. 55 points for Ant. He scored 26 in the fourth quarter, hit five threes in the fourth. Wemby went for 39 of his own points.

0

444.386 - 467.839 Trey Kirby

He had 12 points in the fourth quarter, hit a bunch of clutch shots, had a couple of blocks in the fourth, including one with 13 seconds left on Joan Berenger, and then a game-clinching offensive rebound for Victor as well in that fourth quarter. Just super fun to watch these two guys going shot for shot with each other. They've played a couple of really exciting games.

467.959 - 488.869 Trey Kirby

My three main takeaways from this, other than like... These guys are awesome. Minnesota has to be in the mix as another potential Spurs rival. We look ahead to Oklahoma City versus San Antonio as the rivalry that's going to be defining the NBA for the next five years. And it's because the Spurs are on the come up. The Thunder are...

488.849 - 510.828 Trey Kirby

In their primes, but on the young end of that, it just feels like they're going to be lining up against each other. But it's not totally, it's not that far off from Minnesota to kind of get in the mix as well, I think. Ant is just another different style of foil for Wemby. The relationship between him and Wemby feels very different between the relationship between him and Chet.

510.888 - 529.373 Trey Kirby

You know, Wemby and Chet don't want to talk about each other. No. at all. And you can tell they don't like each other. It feels like Ant and Wemby do like each other. They have a lot of respect for each other and they love bringing the best out of each other. I think you also throw in the Rudy Gobert, uh, Baron J connection between all the French big guys.

529.413 - 550.637 Trey Kirby

There's something there, uh, going forward. It'll just be on kind of Baron J to like be good, you know, whenever Gobert finally starts to fall off. But, uh, I thought that was cool to see. The other couple of takeaways. Number two, Kelton Johnson is a key piece for this Spurs team. He shaved his head with Victor Wembenyama. I do like that he has kind of attached himself to Victor.

Chapter 6: How did the Raptors struggle against zone defense?

621.149 - 645.594 J.E. Skeets

He has skyrocketed, I believe, up the odds. According to FanDuel, he's one of the favorites now with Nas Reed. He's tied. Plus 300 with Nas. Kelton Johnson is. Then it's Jaime Jaquez Jr. at plus 750. You got Reed Shepard, Anthony Simons with the Celtics, Anthony Black as the odds, I guess, go up for those guys. But yeah, Kelton Johnson, man. Going bald, looking cool.

0

645.635 - 646.976 J.E. Skeets

I think he looks pretty good bald.

0

647.397 - 665.863 Trey Kirby

I can't believe it. Victor looks cool. I feel like he could just pull off different looks here. But to see another guy, Kelvin Johnson, he was like, I was looking for a reason to shave my head. The 90s are fully back. If guys with full heads of hair are choosing to shave their hair off. That was a 90s move. Nobody else would do that. Like, what, you're going bald when you have hair?

0

665.883 - 673.574 Trey Kirby

It doesn't make sense. But now these young guys are doing it. I did it in the 90s. Never again will I shave my head. What about a pick and pay off? Oh, no way.

0

673.614 - 682.226 J.E. Skeets

I never would do it. You're saying that's two more? Too much? I'm on record like 10 times on this show saying I'll never do that. I'll do a lot of crazy shit on this show. Never again shaving my hair.

682.567 - 702.519 Trey Kirby

They look cool, though. Vic and Kelden look pretty sweet. I do believe. But yeah, he I haven't really considered him for six man, but it makes sense. He's almost at 14 a game. He's knocking down threes and he's decided if I'm not going to be the go to scorer for this team, I'll do what I can off the bench and I'll hit the glass and be like the emotional leader as well.

702.759 - 707.687 Trey Kirby

I haven't heard any reports on his llamas since the NBA Cup, but I hope he still went in on those as well.

707.667 - 716.982 J.E. Skeets

Yeah, but we've now gotten three actual stories from Keldon Johnson this year. The Llamas with the NBA Cup. The playing, what was the song again that he played?

717.002 - 717.723 Trey Kirby

Vanessa Carlton.

Chapter 7: What was the impact of Jalen Williams' injury on the Thunder?

823.919 - 850.683 J.E. Skeets

the playmaking in particular was impressive and jumped off the screen to me. He was slinging darts cross court. He was feeding Jock Landell inside. He had a gorgeous behind the back pass to, I guess it was Gigi Jackson. And I think he just like, he needed this game and maybe it was helped by the fact it was in London in front of an international crowd who was really behind him. And it was good.

0

850.723 - 872.17 J.E. Skeets

Obviously he looked great. He played well. They got a win, but I think him playing in London, I think this had an impact a little bit. Like him being sort of like cheered on by that crowd. So that was good. And look, for the Grizzlies, whether they trade him or not, this is good. Like you want him playing at this level because it's only going to increase a potential trade package coming back.

0

872.21 - 884.446 J.E. Skeets

Like you get to say to a team like Miami or another team, like, come on, man. Look, he can still play. This guy can still play and have an impact on positive basketball and winning basketball. So that's good. And then finally, yeah, I mean, London just got to see him. So good for them.

0

884.526 - 894.324 Trey Kirby

Hey, don't feel so bad for Berlin, man. They got the Wagners hooping in Berlin, and they showed Father Wagner quite a few times on the broadcast. He's got a cool look as well.

0

894.344 - 902.458 J.E. Skeets

And Berlin got arguably the dunk of the year. Exactly. Anthony Black dunking on four guys, but London, the O2 Arena here, gets John Moran at least.

902.438 - 920.759 Trey Kirby

Berlin can stick magic fans and maybe London will tilt towards the Grizzlies because John was hooping and it was like a highlight festival the entire time. Like you're saying, he got into a flow with things and it felt like he was going out there to intentionally put on a show. Yeah. Five of eight on jumpers, which I think is part of the reason he played.

920.779 - 925.645 Trey Kirby

So what went three or four from the three point line and busted out a new celebration? A bazooka.

Chapter 8: What are the implications of Rudy Gobert's free throw shooting struggles?

925.625 - 929.811 Trey Kirby

Come on, man. Come up with a celebration that's not a weapon.

0

929.851 - 942.007 J.E. Skeets

Well, he did do one that wasn't a weapon. He did a little, I don't know, samba or something as he danced back. Not a weapon in sight, unless he had some knives behind him or something.

0

942.027 - 953.663 Trey Kirby

I don't know. Salsa knives. But you're right, he did the bazooka. He was breakdance fighting for that one. But it's like, finger gun, $75,000 fine. Then he came up with a grenade. Now it's a bazooka. What's next, a tank? He's going to be driving a tank, pop his head out.

0

953.683 - 959.011 J.E. Skeets

I mean... He should be like a playable character in Call of Duty or Fortnite or something.

0

959.051 - 959.651 Trey Kirby

Maybe he is.

959.671 - 970.026 J.E. Skeets

I mean, he really should. He's into this. But at least besides that part where maybe, I don't know if the league comes down on him. I feel like they won't. But he was playing with some joy at the very least.

970.046 - 971.428 Trey Kirby

He was playing with joy, for sure.

971.448 - 979.56 J.E. Skeets

Right from the jump. And he started this game, too. He was on a minutes restriction, but got up to around the 30-minute mark and obviously played a part in them winning.

979.54 - 999.194 Trey Kirby

Yeah, and they needed a win because I think they had just dropped out of 10th in the play-in because the Clippers have been playing really well. They got a win on Friday. So LA had passed Memphis as of Saturday, got the win during the day. And, you know, they're back in the play-in. And like you're saying, maybe this means โ€“ Ja was talking post-game.
