Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy. Not quite. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guests, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between-songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the Enhanced Games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Keir Gaines. This space is about Black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit of armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the capability, that does not mean that you need to. Listen to Learn the Hard Way on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Chapter 2: What are the key playoff performances from Cade Cunningham and the Pistons?
It's all on Saturday for this team. That's what the series comes down to.
Game three is definitely a must win for Cleveland. You can't come back from 3-0. No team has done it yet. And they shot seven for 32 from three last night. So that means they were what? Let me do some math here. 14 for 38 in game one. 21 through 70 through two games here.
Chapter 3: How did James Harden and Evan Mobley perform in Game 2?
Only 30% from three for the Cavs. They have to be thinking they'll shoot better at home. They haven't lost a home playoff game yet. One or four against Toronto. Haven't had one yet against Detroit. So... Like I said, they've been there to win both of these games, but it just feels... disjointed offensively for the Cavs. It's definitely a your turn, my turn.
Once they get into the fourth quarter, Mobley and Allen really become an afterthought. It's like, can Harden get to a step back or maybe a floater or Mitchell making impossible moves? It feels like he's never getting an easy basket in this series. He's having to do six Euro steps to even get to a floater over a tall guy.
Then on the other side, it's like, there's not really an answer for Cade Cunningham on this Cavs roster. Like, Strews did an okay job at times during game one. He had a bad game, too. Dean Wade is doing his best, but he's not giving you enough offensively that it matters, and he's able to lose Cade at some times, too, and those are kind of like their best chances.
I don't know if Mobley's capable of that. He's got a lot of size on Cade Cunningham. He does have good quickness. He's a good defensive player. Maybe that's something they should try because Cade is killing them down the stretch. Like, he just orchestrates everything. In game one, it was setting up little dump-offs for Jalen Duren. Three straight buckets there.
Last night, he was hitting jumpers and mid-rangers. He just looks like the best player on the court. And the best players for the Cavs, all of them are coming up short.
Yeah, you're right. He definitely looks like the best player in this series. The fact that his teammates are allowing him to kind of chill for three quarters, the word chill is a little too extreme, but really not have to press until the fourth quarter. Nearly half of his shots were in the fourth quarter. And also about half of his points also in the fourth quarter because of that.
So credit to everybody else on that roster, mainly Tobias Harris for getting this start. Danis Jenkins as well. But literally, he could just allow everybody else to sort of get him to the fourth quarter. And he is kind of unstoppable, whether it's Wade or whether it's Strews or they throw out the Jalen Tyson experiment.
It was fine. Pretty good. Like yesterday. Yeah.
The, the, the corner shot, the shot just doesn't look good for him, but otherwise the drives for him offensively solid and playing defense solid, but what a playoffs for Kate Cunningham. He's played the most minutes in the NBA. So he's playing a ton. And obviously the points are ridiculous, you know, leading the NBA 30.6 points per game and great efficiency and,

Chapter 4: What are the implications for the Cavs moving forward in the playoffs?
Darren. Whoa, man. Anyways, OKC's bench beat the Lakers bench 48-20. And, you know, there's a whole we need Luka thing. That's totally true. Yeah. But it also happened in game one. So it's this ongoing thing, even with Vanderbilt playing. I thought, yeah, the Lakers overall played a pretty good offensive game to do what they did to score over 100 against this team. They got over 100. Yeah.
Even if there were 20 turnovers, I thought they were playing well. They were moving it. And so they're whipping it around. They could have shot the three ball better because they were moving it around and there were some open shots. Sure, not everyone's going to be Rui Achimura out there. That dude, I mean, just we got to note it. I know they're saying it on the broadcast.
He's four of seven from three in this playoffs. He's 57% from three. But overall in his career, he's 51% from three. 72 for 141. That's the highest three-point percentage in NBA playoffs history for a three-point shooter.
That's pretty amazing, actually. Yeah. Playoff really.
Yeah.
He's a real guy. 143s. But A.J. Mitchell on the other side definitely got a recent tan. Looking pretty good.
You think maybe he hit the beach during the layoff that they had between round one and round two?
Yes. Maybe. Yeah, now that you say that, there's so much time off. Yeah. For sure. How good he was offensively, the footwork inside, the threes, he played some defense on Marcus Smart. You could see Shea as he had to go to the benches, nodding away. Wow, that guy's really grown, the footwork in there. They all work on the same... In the same parts of the court, and they admire each other.
So he did a really great job. Sam Presti, you did a really great job. I always look this up because I think it's one of the best contracts in the league. He's in the first year of his three-year $8.7 million contract. He's getting paid under $3 million per. Who's that? AJ Mitchell. It's ridiculous. That's why he was part of my vote for executive of the year.

Chapter 5: What makes LeBron James an underrated player in the playoffs?
The LeBron James. We talked about him as an X-factor coming into this series. First time ever this guy's been mentioned as an X-factor. We all picked against him. In the first round of the playoffs. Now look, we thought Kevin Durant was going to play. But still, we picked Kevin Durant over LeBron James. That's a crazy move that we did.
He got one vote for anything in the anonymous player poll that The Athletic did. And it was for being the most overrated player. He's been a top 10 player in this playoffs, currently 14th in points per game, third in assists per game. His percentages aren't that great.
Chapter 6: How has LeBron's performance compared to past seasons?
He hasn't been shooting the three ball very well this postseason yet, but still, he's like 24 points per game, six rebounds, almost eight assists. playing with under man teams that keep winning. They haven't won against the thunder. It's the thunder, but they took care of business against the rockets.
He had that incredible game six where he was just masterful in ending the comeback bid for the rockets advancing the Lakers. And it's just crazy to see this guy. in 2026 doing the same things he was doing in 2008, where it's like, your team isn't good enough, but you got LeBron, so you got a chance. It's still the case that in 2026, if you got LeBron, you got a chance.
Yes.
That's impressive. He has become underrated because you compare him to... 2012 LeBron, you know, his absolute peak when he was maybe the best player to ever be on the court for a basketball game. He's not that anymore, but there aren't a lot of guys you would take ahead of LeBron in a playoffs only draft. You're telling me I got to win 16 games over the course of three months.
LeBron's probably still going like top eight, you know?
He is underrated. I think this is very accurate. We kind of just skipped over him as a first-round playoff pick for the Lakers for whatever reason.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of LeBron's potential return to the Lakers?
Yeah. I think it's clear now that he's not retiring this offseason. I mean, he can do what he wants, but it sure feels like he can play longer if he wants and be freaking good. He's just really good. He's not hanging on by any means. He's throwing down dunks. He's physically very strong at recovering as well. So it's not like he has a good game, bad game. He's just so steady. Every night.
So... Unless for whatever reason he wants to stop playing, I don't see why he would.
Yeah, it seems very unlikely that he would be done after this season. And it's also weird because he looks so good as a third option when Luka and Reeves were both healthy. And then he had to snap back into number one mode. And now it's like... It seemed like the end of LeBron in LA, at the very least. But now... The Lakers, like, should they bring LeBron back? Maybe.
Should they figure out a way to pay him and be able to keep Reeves under contract as well? Because the three of them looked really, really good. And you want to have LeBron on your team come playoff time rather than have to go up against them. So I don't think it's a done deal that he leaves the Lakers anymore, though.
You know, for the majority of the season, it definitely felt like he was on his way out and that their time together was going to be coming to a close. I don't think that's a guarantee anymore.
Yeah, the reason why you don't bring him back is to get better as a team overall, to add more depth. Because they did lose in the first round last year and the year before that. And there's a reason for that because we're talking about them not being able to play guys against OKC. But it's all about if he wants to take a discount. like we've heard about other teams in Cleveland.
So there's that, because they have money going to Luka, obviously.

Chapter 8: What are the latest playoff predictions and celebrity rec league team picks?
But besides that, the contracts are fairly low with this team as currently constructed. Yeah, if he wants to stick around, I definitely would bring him back.
Yeah, they got a lot of stuff to do this summer. They're going to have to figure out what to do with Reeves. He's got a player option. He's not going to take that because he's going to get paid from somebody or from the Lakers. The Lakers should probably bring him back. But like Rui is a free agent. Canard, Maxi Kleba is still on the books. I don't know what's going to happen with Aiton.
He signed basically a one-year approved that you can do anything sort of deal with a player option. He's been decent. He was pretty good, I thought, in the first round. But other than that, like the books can be decently clean, but you're right. It would end up being a top heavy team, which has kind of been the Lakers undoing the past couple of seasons.
Yeah. Yeah. And I, the front office is a question and the ownership change and whether Rob Blanca has the freedom to do what he wants. Maybe he does. But besides Luca being paid 51 next year, it's a drop-off. As you said, that Austin Reese player option is the next highest paid contract currently in on the books for next year at just about $15 million. Rui's off the books.
Kennard is off the books. There's just not a lot of money tied up next season. All right, moving on. The Knicks are great because of C.J. McCollum. When C.J. McCollum hit that game winner in game three of the first round for the Atlanta Hawks against the New York Knicks, the Knicks changed the way they play basketball. and they're playing way better.
Game four, that is when Carl Anthony Towns started to be that guy at the top of the key, at the top of the three-point arc, just firing passes, firing passes, and that's when OG Ananobi was able to cut baseline and be so good. He's been good the whole series, but other guys, Mikael Bridges started to pick it up, Josh Hart, always good, and Jalen Brunson,
was able to be good off the passes and just not have to do as much bringing up the ball up the floor. And part of why they're better, I think, not only is Carl in the Towns a giant man and able to have the vision to see over top of everybody and throw it to guys who are willing to cut, but it gets him involved earlier. And I think that is a great sign for
The Knicks in general, to help him offensively, to help him defensively, but just to have Carl Anthony Townsend as part of every single possession. And Jalen Brunson not having to mentally start every possession. Now, they don't say, Carl Anthony Townsend, you're the passer of every possession, because that's not what a good team does.
But a good team also doesn't say, hey, Jalen Brunson, you're starting every possession, and you're bringing it up every possession. That's why Tom Thibodeau leaves. It's a team sport still. That's what I've heard. But simply put, I think it makes him better. And as good as OG has been on his own, I think Carlton Towns firing at him has really helped.
