Chapter 2: How did Wembanyama's concussion impact the Spurs' game?
There was that fun moment in this game where it was Dylan Harper and Scoot. That was cool. Or trade in buckets going mono versus mono. Mono versus mono? Mono and mono. That was awesome. He was huge for them and has been in this series so far. This was the scoot game. There's no doubt defensively, too.
I thought he was so good at pouncing those lanes, getting into wherever he had the opportunity to jump in. I didn't recognize that guy. I mean, he's the guy that we all were waiting for. We watched him in the G League. Oh, this guy's got to be so good. I hadn't seen him until this point that there was a gap where he was taking over the G League and then making his way into the NBA.
He was a fine player. But this was this. This was a scoot show. Both ends. I thought he was really, really good defensively, too. Yeah, he was even good in the playing game. So maybe Scoot's just a postseason riser. Who knows? Had to get there first to figure it out. But it was basically all jumpers for Scoot Henderson. I think he made two layups, went to the free throw line a handful of times.
One of his layups was really tough late in the fourth quarter. A crazy take and just a really, really tough finish. But he's not really a jump shooter, but they were going in. So he was getting the shots up and... Kudos to the Blazers. If he's having a game like this, you've got to be able to win that game when a guy's shooting that well that he's just tossing it up.
And every time it is, it feels like it's going in because it was. So awesome win for the Blazers. If it came out that Scoot takes three-hour naps right before the game, I would not be surprised. The back of his head is always smashed down. It's flat. Yeah. Yeah. When I said I don't recognize this guy, in part it was that. Never seen his hair like that before. Really? It's so flat in the back.
Yeah.
Is it from lying down or is it from leaning against a chair? It is crazy how flat it is. He was great. You brought up Drew Holiday. What a rock. I mean, just made all the timely plays on both ends. Even the one where he got the air ball on the Robert Williams shot. Just Johnny on the spot right there. He just makes so many plays. He's just so damn good. But Time Lord himself, too. Great game.
He converted the lob from Denny Avdija there at the end to give the Blazers the three-point lead with about 12 seconds to go. That dunk topped off a great line from him. 11 points, nine boards, three assists, one block, one steal in fairly limited minutes. He only plays half the game, less than half the game at 23 minutes.
So Drew, all the defenders scoot coming through offensively and Time Lord himself here. I mean, you see the vets obviously coming through for this team. Yeah, and I thought Time Lord kind of dominated, especially when the Spurs were going small, and he was just big-boying them out there, blocking shots, grabbing offensive rebounds, to the point where I was like...

Chapter 3: What makes Scoot Henderson's performance noteworthy?
That's not happening for the Rockets. Sometimes KD gets off the ball at the right time, but then it's a question of will that player make the right play? Shangoon hasn't really at this point. And then Thompson hasn't really established himself at this point. And those are the two guys you would think maybe could do it.
Meanwhile, we got Jackson Hayes like operating out of the short roll, finding shooters in the corner. It's just different. The Lakers aren't even playing that well, and they're up 2-0. 27 more shots for the Rockets in Game 1. 17 more than the Lakers last night. And they're down 0-2. Yeah, and the Rockets feel, to me, they feel deflated.
Even though there is a fight level, it just feels totally different. I don't understand Kevin Durant continuously bringing up the ball, even. And that's a part of it, is that Reed Shepard yanked from the starting lineup. But that's puzzling to me, too. For a guy who hadn't played... I think it's 10 days since their last game. It's a little puzzling. And so he got more tired as the game went on.
I think that's apparent. You saw in the fourth quarter, again, that whip pass from the top to the corner. What is that? I was puzzled by that. There are just too many moments through these two games where the Rockets are just not locked in enough. Just like mental lapses.
One, I mean, we brought up the free throw one where Smart just like got to it and out-hustled Eason and Jabari Smith Jr., which is pretty embarrassing in a playoff game. But 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Shengun had just scored inside. I think it was off an offensive rebound. He had scored. So the Lakers have to inbound the ball. They walk the ball up. They're not pushing it.
They're not running. They're not in semi-transition. They're sort of just bringing the ball up the floor. And Luke Kennard, the Nard Dog, dribbles straight by Aaron Holiday. He just waltzes right to the rim for the layup. There's no help from Tara Eason on the strong side because he's attached to LeBron and just like sort of watches him go by. There's no help from Kevin Durant.
who is on the weak side, worried about Jackson Hayes in the corner for some reason. He doesn't come over and help at the rim. Shengun, if you watch him, he's like distracted or something. He's like, he doesn't even realize the play is happening and Nardog's at the rim. Like, it's things like that. These little just lapses and fight or whatever that are adding up to these losses here.
That's brutal. And like, that should be immediate timeout. Like, what the hell are we doing? So they're outclassed right now. These are not the prettiest games, but yeah, the one team has LeBron leading them through it and everybody else chipping in and they're playing with that, that sort of confidence of like being short their two main score, two other main scorers.
Well, the other team, I don't know. It's like, if I keep reminding myself though, that these two games were not in Houston. Because the Rockets were picked by a lot of us.

Chapter 4: What were the highlights of VJ Edgecombe's performance?
Again, just playing off. That's five buckets just using everything around him. And so he's just shooting open shots, and that's why he got up to 20 at half. He wasn't forcing anything, and I thought it was very similar to Scoot Henderson defensively, just jumping in those passing lanes, being super aggressive on that end.
Mm-hmm.
Four deflections, two steals for Vijay Edgecombe. It was a wonderful game that we all wondered when he had his first game in the regular season when he was ridiculously good. Is he already going to ascend to that level and to have a 30-point night with 10 rebounds, the youngest player ever? surpassing Magic Johnson to do that. I mean, cool.
Chapter 5: How did the Sixers adapt without Embiid?
He needs Tyrese Maxey's gravity, as I said, but an amazing game for that entire Sixers team that we all kind of thought could be that if Embiid is healthy and all that, but they did it without him. It was what a show. Yeah, Vijay, first rookie to record at least 30 points and 10 boards in a playoff game since Tim Duncan in 1998. But like you said, the youngest since Magic.
Also, you know, Tim Duncan was a big, and Vijay is a guard, last I checked. So that is pretty impressive. He made six of the 76ers' 19 three-pointers, and they were letting them fly, and they were hitting some here in game two. Yeah.
Edgecombe's got a little Jimmy Butler and a little Drew Holiday to his game where he's just making other plays and then the scoring is kind of almost gravy with everything else that he's doing. I'm kind of with you.
Chapter 6: What are the implications of Billy Donovan stepping down?
He did have 30, ended up being the leading scorer with the Sixers, but I kind of thought it was because Tyrese Maxey was playing as well as he did. There are two things that really stuck out to me is that the Sixers definitely have an athleticism advantage in their backcourt. Maxey and Edgecombe are better athletes than both Derek White and Sam Hauser.
And two, most importantly, the Celtics are allowing jump shots in drop coverage because they got Keita. They got Vooch playing so far down on these pick and rolls. We're talking underneath the free throw line. Those shots are going to be there. So Maxie was kind of hesitant, I thought, to take him in game one. Game two, he was much more aggressive looking for a shot.
Chapter 7: What did Jaden McDaniels say about Denver's defense?
I think he's got maybe a finger thing that was holding him back. But clearly the game plan was you got to take these jumpers if they're there. Vijay started hitting him. Maxie started hitting him. Game got close in the fourth quarter. Back-to-back jacks for Maxie. One time he rejects the screen, pulls up for a three-pointer. The next time he uses the screen, pulls up for a three-pointer.
So Celtics are going to have to change something up. They can't just allow...
vj and tyrese to walk into these open jump shots because that's what it is or at least it was for the sixers last night yeah as great as the sixers were playing for majority of this game you knew boston was going to make a run you just knew he was like okay when's it coming and like you said trey they cut a seven point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to 91 89 and that's when the sixers ripped off that 11-0 run
Started with those two Maxie threes. Then he attacked. He missed the layup, but Drummond tipped in the offensive rebound. And then Maxie drawing all the attention at that point, he swung it over to Kelly Oubre Jr. in the corner for three. And just like that, 11-0 run, built the lead back. And obviously took care of business from there.
He was, I loved Maxie, how he played from the jump of this game. It was desperation. It was like, they need me to be sort of Iverson here and like really look and seek out my shot. And he did that. He said in his pregame interview on the broadcast, he's like, we had to flush game one. Mission accomplished. Drano gel acquired. No turbo team needed. No joke holes for farts and no couch jumping.
I got the Drano. They flushed it and he was awesome. The two of them are amazing, man. And like I saw Zilla write this, it's so true. This is the perfect win for Philadelphia because it reminds fans what they loved about this new version of the team early in the season. The Sixers have not exactly been fun for some time, even as they've made playoffs every year and been competitive in series.
A maxi edge comb led squad is fun. Yeah. A lot of truth to that. Not only do they win, but man, that's awesome with these two young guys. Yeah, that's what we, again, what we all sort of expected, hoped for. And to see them, defensively, they were so good. I mean, you mentioned Derek White and Sam Houser not having the athleticism of the Sixers backcourt. That's totally true.
I thought they did a great job with Peyton Pritchard, too, just throwing him off multiple times, whether it's a double and then Maxie jumping the passing lane or just taking away his passes. And so he got into the midrange, and it was just a little, you know, one of those possessions where... I don't know. Am I shooting? Am I passing? And missing because of that.
But the Sixers' defense was on point. And the smart thing about Vijay Achkham just to diss Vuc was that he went at Vuc, Nikola Vuc in the third quarter a couple times. They went at Nikola Vuc when they could. They just were doing the smart things. Nick Nurse had this team ready from the get-go. Paul George was also a guy who took off a lot of the burden for Tyrese Maxey.
