Oh hi, welcome to Not the Top Twenty podcast with me, Ali Maxwell and him, George Elick. Feels like we're um sort of working a different shift here uh on account of the summer so far being mainly uh World Cup and England based. Hopefully you're all enjoying the England pod. If not, we're still in the tournament. There's still lots of pods, and I think if you like this, there's a decent chance you'll enjoy that. So do go and listen. But this is a transfer podcast, the EFL transfer. Transfer window is open and loads of deals have already been done. And on this podcast episode, we're going to go through every single one. Now we don't have opinions andor detail on all of them because wow, there's only so much the two guys can handle.
But we're gonna log every single transfer just as we are on ntt20.com's written transfer coverage, and we're gonna pick out a few to expand upon. Give some thoughts upon because transfers are fun.
Mm.
In the championship, who are the best signings so far? That's what we're going to be asking over the next 15 minutes or so. But let's just go through it in alphabetical order, club alphabetical order. John Solis has signed for Birmingham from Girona. He was on loan in the second half of last season, and he looks pretty decent as a destroyer, I would say, adapted to the level pretty well, and they've turned it permanent. And I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes in his second season. You could say the same for Musa Baraji of Blackburn, who was a central midfielder. They've signed permanently for him. Javerdun, I think that's how you say it, uh the Swiss team. And again, at times showed some flashes, uh, certainly box crashing, ball carrying through the centre of the park, but I wouldn't say adapted seamlessly either.
But you hope with these guys that they do well for the uh initial exposure and they kick on again in their second season. We've seen that time and time again with signings from overseas. If you can show a little bit of patience, you're often rewarded. Uh Bolton have signed three after promotion. Ben Davis, Akin Fanwo, and David Watson. Now, Watson is a 21-year-old Scottish midfielder that's already made over 80 starts for Kilmarnock in the SPL. So he's a very precocious player that our Scottish mole sort of likened to John McGinn in terms of slightly small in stature, unbelievably hardworking, throws himself around, gets forward, breaks into the box. I'm interested to see how quickly he can adapt to the level with Bolton.
Who are probably gonna be up against it in a lot of their games, you'd imagine. And he's got some decent midfield competition in terms of Rubin Rodriguez and Xavi Simons as well. Um, but an interesting addition as well. George Ben Davis. The centre back. He played for for Oxford for a bit. Yeah. Uh Akin Fammer as well has joined to to bolster Bolton's back line. They lost George Johnston, who stayed in League One with Luton. With Ben Davis, uh are they getting are they getting a championship starting centre back?
Well, he had a funny time with us where he looked quite good when he played, but he barely played and then didn't really feature for the last couple of months. Um, obviously very good, very competent on the ball, left footed which helps.
