The Justice Department filed papers on Friday asking US District Judge Richard Berman to unseal the grand jury transcripts from the investigation into the disgraced financier and sex offender. Grand jury proceedings are generally secret, but the department says an exception should be made here because of the level of public interest in the Epstein case. Now Judge Berman says in an order that he wants to resolve the request quote expeditiously. But that the government has failed to adequately address key factors when seeking to unseal grand jury materials. He has given the Justice Department a week to address those factors.
