The attack on St. Mary's Catholic School in the northern state of Niger is among Nigeria's biggest school abductions. In 2014, the kidnapping of 276 Chibok schoolgirls by Boko Haram sparked global outrage. In the years since, hundreds of students have been seized, often for money. Experts say schools are easy targets as they lack adequate security.

No group has taken responsibility for this latest abduction. Authorities say a massive search and rescue operation is underway after armed men on motorcycles attacked the school in the early hours, taking staff and students away in large vans. Drew Bright, NPR News Vegas.

You're listening to NPR News from Washington. The Supreme Court is allowing Texas to use its recently redrawn map of congressional districts for now while it decides its legality. A decision could come as soon as Monday.

192.89 - 211.056 Janine Herbst

A lower court had blocked the map, finding it's likely to be found unconstitutional because it draws the lines to eliminate districts where Black and Latino voters make up the majority. But time's running out to finalize Texas' maps for the midterms because the state's candidate filing deadline is about two weeks away.

212.588 - 227.949 Janine Herbst

Parts of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip are closed off today as racing series F1 is in town to host its annual Grand Prix event. The race is a welcome boost for a city that has seen a decline in visitor numbers.

229.311 - 245.554 H.J. Mai

Las Vegas is the third and final U.S. stop on this year's F1 calendar. McLaren teammates Lander Norris and Oscar Piastri are in a race for the title. With a win tonight, current championship leader Norris would take a large step towards securing his first driver's title, with only two races left in the season.

246.175 - 269.052 H.J. Mai

British driver Norris took pole position in a rain-soaked qualifying session Friday night. Australia's Piastri will start fifth after struggling with the challenging conditions along the temporary 3.8-mile street course. With no rain in the forecast, race organizers expect more than 100,000 fans in attendance for tonight's race and over 300,000 across the event's three days. H.J.
