I'm pretty good, Bob. I'm in Raleigh. I'm... standing in the bowels of the arena about 30 feet from Tyler Dello. I told him he said hi and wished him good luck in the series.
Well, we've brought Tyler up on the show, and there were people that I thought at times were unnecessarily hard on Taylor Hall here. I'm cheering for Taylor as well. I'd like nothing more than to see him win a Stanley Cup. Don't get me wrong. I want to see Conor McDavid and Leon Dreisaitl win a Stanley Cup. We'll get to the Oilers in a second. This is a matchup. It's going to be a good matchup.
But wait a second. Since you mentioned Taylor Hall, he's the guy who's championed Taylor Hall to get him to Carolina.
Yes, we know that. Tyler Della was the guy that stepped up and got Hall there. It turned out to be a great trade. Didn't look like a great trade last year. Looked like a great trade this year. Let me ask you. Go for it.
I was just going to say one thing that really surprised me yesterday and captured my attention. was Taylor Hall saying that when he got here, he realized that he wasn't in good enough shape to play the way Rod Brittenmore wants to play. And it took him three weeks to a month to get up to that speed with all the skating that's required here.
I just thought a really honest and insightful answer coming off of a pretty long and storied career.

Chapter 2: Why is Taylor Hall's performance significant in the playoffs?
He did Rivalry. What's that? He did Rivalry. He did Rivalry. I didn't watch that one either. But you know what? If that's your thing, that's okay. You can watch it.
You know, I passed on that show, but off-campus was right up my alley for, like, for a minute. But, hey, the commissioner, he made it a point to say that he binge-watched both shows. He actually said that he watched Heated Rivalry in one sitting, believe it or not. Really? I think it was all eight episodes. And let's be real.
Those two shows have actually been a huge contributing factor to the NHL's massive ratings increase in this country. Yeah. The Olympics and those two shows have helped turn the tide for the NHL in a big way.
Well, there you have it. The biggest news of the day, and I know this is an Edmonton show, Frank Cervalli joining us, and you know my feelings on Chris McFarlane, and you've known that for a while, dating back to 2019 when Pete Chiarelli was fired. Perfect fit, right, for Nashville?
This is a guy that is highly thought of around the league, and he's now the president and GM of the Nashville Predators.
So I have zero doubt or worry that Chris McFarlane, one of the sharpest hockey minds in the league and a true worker and grinder at every stage of his career, starting in the league office, cutting VCR tapes and working in marketing to making it to be an NHL general manager without really any playing experience to speak of. No doubt that he'll be successful.
My bigger question here is, why did Colorado let him go? That's the part I can't really figure out. And look, one of the dirty secrets in the NHL is that the Avs are way more budget conscious than most would believe, which is incredible given Dan Kroenke and his family's wealth and all the sports teams that he owns. He runs that team on a shoestring budget. Yep. And...
Chris McFarlane was one of the lower paid general managers in the league. So I get the want for him to step up in both title and have the ability to run the show as he sees fit instead of reporting to Joe Sackett.
The part I can't really figure out is why you wouldn't just top him up in Colorado and have Joe Sackett continue to hang out and watch Alabama football and be the guy that's the counsel instead and not have to do all the work, which now Joe Sackick is back in running things on a day-to-day basis, at least, quote, according to the team, for the foreseeable future.

Chapter 3: What insights does Frank Cervalli provide about NHL trades?
I'm learning about a new show that's got lots of nipples, and I'm learning that Joe Sackick. It's a bigger Alabama. I obviously can't afford Alabama games. I will tell you that in the Iron Bowl a couple years ago, Alabama, the one where Bryce Young went into the shootout, Cam Moon did the entire first period by himself in that game. Okay?
I was focused on... You know who else could do a whole period by themselves?
You're a funny man today. You got me laughing. So $26.8 billion, by the way, that's what Stan Kroenke is worth. And yet the abs have been a little tight.
That doesn't even factor in his wife's worth. Right. Yeah. His wife is the heir to Walmart. Right. Which in the U.S. makes you rich. He literally is a Walton.
Yes. Yes. It's quite, like, what do you think about it? It is, so, and it is interesting that as the... Like, give the guy an extra 500K.
What are we talking about here? These aren't even rounding errors.
Frank Cervoli, I love it. So you have the contrast between the Avalanche allowing a very good general manager to go to a divisional rival when he's out there, current employee, he's not been fired in his role. And today, Gary Bettman provided us and Bills Daily an update on Bruce Cassidy.
He did, and clearly the league has reviewed the contract and the exact terms and language. They've also spoken to all parties involved, including the Edmonton Oilers, Bruce Cassidy, the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Los Angeles Kings.
And they've determined that regardless of whatever, and we've talked about this, whatever the norm is, whatever the custom is, that Vegas is well within their right to do it this way. So with that... The only thing is Bill Daley did his hedge a little bit and say, we'll see how this turns out after the season ends.
