Without a doubt. I mean, look at the season he had and look at the turnaround he had. He completely flipped the season around. He had a rough start, and then he managed to fix everything. And a lot of insiders are starting to agree with you here, Bob.
Yeah. Well, that's because I was ahead of the curve because I watched it turn in December. Yeah, exactly. Like, Drew Dowdy was like minus 10 from December until the Olympics. Okay? He went through it tough. He was part of the reason why the Kings struggled. The combination of Pareko and Dowdy, two righties, they only needed one of those guys. They should have had Bouchard.
But I do not think he is going to end up in the top three. I just ā and you know what? If you look at the actual numbers, a strong argument can be made he had a way, way better season than Zach Wierenski. Take a look at Wierenski's numbers down the stretch. That team won two of their final ten games. How did he play? Not too good.
Chapter 4: What comparisons are made between the Ducks and the Oilers in 2017?

They may be young and eager, but they don't have the dual superstar attack that we did. You know what, though? I want you to think back to 2017. Did we think of Leon Dreisaitl in the 16-17 season as a superstar? We did not. We did not think of him that year as a superstar. He really, when did he become a, just pull up his stats for me, Aiden, if you could.
He had 13 points in the seven-game series against Anaheim. That's when he arrived. He had like a 70 off the top of my head that 16, 17 year.
I think in the regular season, did he have 77 points? 77 and then 70 the next year and then 18, 19, 105.
That was kind of the... And the 50 goal season. So he became a superstar in 18, 19. Even though you could tell he was... Just so you're aware, when the Oilers signed him to the eight-year extension... including some of the smartest opinionists in the city. Darcy McLeod is not a dumb guy, a.k.a. a wood guy. Like, Shirely got shredded for that eight-year deal on Dreisaitl.
It was a bargain in the end. Now, do I think Pete Chiarelli sat there and said, oh, Leon Dreisaitl's going to win the heart and have multiple 50-goal seasons during the duration of his contract? Not a chance. And then even look at what happened. Like last year was the last. He should have won the MVP last year. He came in second to Connor Hellebuck. What about Connor Hellebuck? You see that?
Do you think it's possible? Do you think it's possible we're going to see a bunch of American guys leave Canadian teams?
We saw it with Quinn Hughes. Do you think Connor Hellebuyck's setting it up in Winnipeg for a departure? I'm not 100% sure on that right now.

They need some offense from Roslevic, from Savoy, from Bud Colson. They need some contributions from players like that up front. Now you're talking seven forwards giving them some juice. And then they need a third line that can check, and they need to bring it with the fourth line as well. It is 5.46 in oil country. I'm going to head off to a quick three-minute break.

Wayne Gretzky sets a playoff record for points in a game with four goals and three assists as the Oilers pummeled the Flames 10-2 in Game 3 of the Smythe Division Final. That record was broken six years later by Devils forward Patrick Sundstrom, who scored eight for New Jersey.
Oh, that Wayne Gretzky, he was pretty good back in the day. Do you know what happened in that game? That was the game, and I'm going to look it up right here right now, but that was the game in 82-83. I'm pretty sure that Dave Semenko got into it with Tim Hunter. And I think the Oilers ended up getting a... a match penalty as a result of it. Here we go, April 17th, 2017.
Yeah, Steve Semenko, match penalty at 4-0-1. Jamie McCown was involved in it, and... McCowan got... Semenko got a match penalty, a game misconduct, a misconduct, and a fighting major. Gave him 35 minutes in penalties. Tim Hunter was involved in the fight. Then Poplinski went at Hunter. Donnie Jackson peeled Poplinski off and beat the wheels off of him.
And guess how many penalties were in the second and third period of that game? A lot. Lowe had a minor and Fogelin had a minor. That's it. The rest of the game. But... Yeah, Coffey, shorthanded goal during that five-minute major. Gretzky, shorthanded goal. Marc Messier, shorthanded goal. That might have been the first game in NHL history that had three shorthanded goals. Can you look that up?
Why do I think that's the case? But yeah, Gretzky was pretty good. Messier was pretty good. I think Yolonen got into it with somebody. Gary Dornhofer was doing color. He's like... Get in there, Yolanda. Your teammate's getting the crap kicked out of him. It was awesome. But, yeah, the Oilers pounded the flames in the 83 playoffs. Calgary gave them a run in 84.
The year Edmonton won their first cup, seven games in 84. Brendan Escott is here. He's got inside sports. We're going to be busy, buddy, which is a lot better than the option.
