Used to do it at Moe's Sports Parlor back in the day.
You actually want to challenge me on this? Is that what you want to get going here? Let's do it, Bob. All right. We're going to do World Cup?
Yeah, we're going to do World Cup. I'm going to give you three different tournaments from different generations, and you're going to have to tell me the winners. Okay, go. All right. First up, 1978. Argentina. Okay. Okay. They beat Netherlands in the final 3-1. Yep. Do you know where it was? In Argentina. There we go. All right. 1982.
Italy. Roberto Baggio. No, not Baggio. Who's the guy that got kicked out of... Oh, man. Anyways, he got a hat trick. It'll come to me in a second. But yes, Italy won, and I believe that year it was in Spain.
Yep. You got that one as well. Okay. Last one. 2002. 2002.
Brazil. And that one was in Asia, right? Was that one in Japan?
Yeah, and Korea. And Korea. There you go.
That's kind of weak stuff. But you know what? Now I'm upset that I forgot the guy that got the hat trick for Italy. I remember Brazil had an unbelievable team. Not as good as the 1970 team that many people think is the greatest team of all time. Look up 19.

Chapter 2: How does Al May view Mike Babcock's coaching style and its impact?
But it's how you do it, what you say, how you get that message across. That's going to be critically important. And they've got to see the light that they can be better and how they can be better, you've got to show them. And that's what makes a very good coach. The coach that comes in the room, swears at you for five minutes, slams the door and leaves and tells you to figure out.
Well, you've got to be showing how. The game is so complex now. It's so analytically driven. It's so much about A, B, and C that you've really got to understand what you have to do to be better. I know with the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, He'd be in the defense. He always did whatever the coach's system was, but no one ever showed him.
And I'm just using him for example, because it was everybody. The nuances of the game when you back check and the pucks on your strong side corner, where do you go? How do you point your skates? Where's your stick at? You know, is your head on a swivel? Who are you looking for? What lane do you have to take away? And that's what the really good coaches do.
And I see mistakes out of all those players that I mentioned. And there are things that can be fixed. And you've got to drive it into those guys because if you can get those guys to do it. Everyone else better damn well do it, or you've got to get rid of them too.
So it's a matter, if you want this thing to get better, last year, and I was on your show before, it bothered me that the Oilers were speaking out about coaching and everything, and they were kind of eating their own and throwing accusations. The Florida Panthers sucked last year. They had injuries galore, so did the Oilers, but the Florida guys never came back. You didn't hear jack.
Out of Florida, they had to blow everything up and do everything different. And, you know, that's the problem with Planet Canada is there's a lot of noise. The press is there talking about it every day. There wasn't any mention of the Washington Capitals today in the news at all around here or the bloggers or anybody. social media, the caps are off.
So it's a lot different environment here than it is back home.
All right, so I'm going to ask you a simple question. You had Laviolette there. I think we know for a fact Laviolette was interviewed for the job. He got L.A. 's job. Of course, Mike Babcock worked for Ken Holland. You would have to think if Stan Bowman did his due diligence, and I believe that to be the case. I wonder whether or not they had a conversation about Babs. Theoretically...
If this ends up being allowed to carry forward, and again, this situation is fluid right now, do you think Babcock could be successful with this Oilers group here, Al?
