So, Shamrock Rovers, 3-1 victors over Ignatia last night in the Europa League third qualifying round, first leg. Pico Lopez scored his first goal in Europe since 2020. Definitely his. Definitely his. Gone down as his. All goals in this game actually came from set pieces. Penalty in the first half for Rovers, penalty equaliser from Ignatia, and then two whipped in balls from Jack Byrne. for Lopez and Aaron Green and Greenberg's penalty meant that he is the top Irish scorer in European history that is going to catch a lot of people out in poke quizzes over the next couple of years his 16th goal was scored last night from the penalty spot so not just Sean McRoberts his all time European top scorer but Aaron the General surpassing both Robbie and Roy Keane wow there you go

Now, you may have missed this. You may have missed it. I was lucky enough to watch this game last night. Rovers battered Ignatia. Battered him. We'll actually be very disappointed not to have won by more. They had a rake of chances, particularly in the second half, particularly from about the 55th minute onwards.
David Wilson 1:42
Yeah, off a lob he had.
Colm Boohig 1:43
Off a lob. He's one-on-one. One-on-ones. Yeah, he had a couple of gilt-edged opportunities, as they say. He did. He really did. Went wide at the far post, one of them. Not a credit to the keeper saving the keeper. Very dodgy. Our own good friend Barry Murphy was in commentary. And a great victory. It's actually something that you come to expect from Sama Crovers.

How did Shamrock Rovers perform in their Europa League first‑leg win over KF Egnatia?

Colm Boohig 2:00
Not surprised that they've won this game 3-1 against this Albanian crowd. Now they're in pre-season. They finished up a minute on start until the end of August. But they were far superior really all night long. And they go into that second leg with an unbelievable chance of getting to the conference league group stages again. And also facing Neilstrom in a Europa League playoff. So it's looking very, very good for Shamrock Rovers. So great stuff on the pitch last night. Big disappointment for me, of course, is you have to really go looking for this game if you want it. It would have cost you €10, even if you already had an existing LOITV membership. Where are these games? If we want this game to grow in the country, if you want people to care, put it on national television for the love of God.
Colm Boohig 2:42
I'm going to be repeating this ad nauseum for the last year and I'm going to continue doing it too. We do not care about football in this country. Very obvious. And it's very annoying. Bohemians are against Midtjylland tomorrow, also in a qualifier. Shelburne are against Ajax in a qualifier. Do you know where these games are on tomorrow night? Where? You can find the Bose game on Bohemian slash Solid Sports for 10 euro or 15 euro if you're abroad. And Shells versus Ajax is on Premier Sports 1. Presumably because the 1995 Champions League winners are playing in that game. We'll take it. We'll take it.
Darius McNaughton 3:24
We will.
Colm Boohig 3:24
But RTE, where are you? Put the games on TV. if you want people to care about this at all, you've got to show people and give them an opportunity to see it. I would surmise that a lot of people didn't even realise this game was on, or maybe did, but knew they weren't going to be able to watch it, or weren't going to watch it, they weren't going to go over their way to pay that extra tenner to do so. They have a shrug of the shoulders, all Rovers won again, great. But how are we ever going to improve this thing in our country? Just domestically, Virgin Media do the League of Ireland quite well.
