I suppose from the game point of view, I thought we started poor. I thought we were too stand-offing. I think that was the first 15-20 minutes really. Then we changed it. Changed the shape. I thought that sort of changed the dynamic, the flow of the game really. Then obviously we got a great goal. I wanted the team to have legs really at the start of the game. I thought that was how we wanted to play out. First goal really summed that up. And then the second half obviously, they got back into it but hearing me on the break he's a powerful top centre forward here we missed him badly and you can see what you can do when he's out there
How did Shelbourne perform against Shamrock Rovers?
He had about three or four runs, I think, at league race in that match. Myself and Colt Cometair are saying, King, we're saying league race has to be bang on all the time, whereas Rebecca only needs one chance and he got it.
Yeah, to be honest, I don't even think it's a chance really, but I think he has that as a player. It's the smallest things. I think how powerful he moves, how quick he is, is really good, but it's also just the smallest thing. It reminds me of a player in England, really. It's just how hard he hits the ball, really. I know that sounds something simple, but I think that actually probably gets him the goal there tonight. I think catching the keeper by surprise, just the power that he's able to hit the ball off is weak afoot.
I know Hardy Wood a couple of times lost the ball tonight, but each time he's chasing down the ball to try and get it back for his team. But outside of that, his performance was electric tonight, wasn't it?

It's great seeing him out there. There's some super players there on the pitch. Rovers obviously have some, we have some. He's right up there. He's been brilliant for us all season really. It's great to get a win. I think his performance this year in a lot of games, we haven't got the results off the back of some of the stuff he's done. So it's nice to get home with a win as well.
Some people also question your goalkeeper this season, Veszel Spiel, but he also played a key part this evening I felt.
Yeah, big, big save there at the end, obviously our 2-1 I think it was, so yeah, big, big moment, stepped up nicely, super goalkeeper here, I think we've conceded too many goals as a team, especially on set players and a lot of them aren't his fault, you know, but big, big moment there for us and obviously got us the win.
I felt your substitutions tonight were very brave as well. You were brave in the touchline yourself and in your decisions. You must be always second guessing yourself sometimes when you're playing of the quality of Sean McRover's.

Yeah, of course. Sometimes it's possible to do something really well. I think a change of shape really helped us.
Was that when you went to the back five in the second half?
Yeah, just at the start. It was after 20 minutes, to be honest. From that, we thought we got a bit of a foothold in the game and we scored from that sort of set-up, I think. And even then, at the end of the second half, we just tweaked it again and got an extra player as far as we went 5-4-1. Top, top team had asked questions of you all night, but you need to have a threat on the break and I thought we had that. Yeah, and listen, great night for us, but here we park and move on to next week.
Yeah, so you've got two home wins now this season. You've got a first win against Rovers since 2024. So important it is now to build on that going into Drogheda United next week.
