It was the local hero, however, Bethan Parsons, who put the concerns of the Galway crowd to bed, capitalising on a Japanese handle and error to run in for her second try of the game.

was a tough game and the Japanese are a well-organised team. We played them recently in the World Cup and knew that they'd bring layers to their game. They've got a new head coach, he's going to be passionate about the line-out and we knew that challenge was coming. We had some things to put right from last week and actually in a tough game, I'm delighted that the team showed a bit of character, a bit of resilience and the wherewithal to come through it.
We saw the videos during the week with Bess and the reaction to her getting her international debut. What was it like for her out there as her team-mate?
Yeah, I think just to start off, just unbelievably proud of her and everything she's shown. She's such a resilient character and you can just tell from the videos, the close-knit squad that we have, how everyone's genuinely happy for her. I think one of the first people to congratulate her was Niamh Jones and I think that just shows you all about the team that we are and how we are. We're genuinely happy for each other. Fair play to her, she came on, it wasn't easy. Like you said, it was a challenging game and she came on and held her own. Scott talked about it in the week, she was 150% ready and I think she showed that out there. We're very, very proud of her.
How pleased are you that you were able to problem-solve on the pitch this week?
Learning your lessons is always much better from a winning position. You're right, it did. Our execution, we thought we left a few points out in the first half in terms of on the try line. Two held ups, one pushing the touch. And I think the scoreboard should have looked a bit different at half time. But we knew what we were turning around into and we prepared. We love coming here to Galway, but there is a Galway breeze. We knew that turning around into that, in some ways it's a bit easier to play into the wind, but you've got to get through those moments, those possessions. Like you say, the momentum, there was a balance and a tipping point into it. I thought Dan O'Brien was incredibly calm at outside half.
