Well, it's gonna happen because you have viable candidates. Like one of those three guys, whether it's Shabbat, Stutzla, or Sanderson, like that can be your captain, either of those three guys, and for different reasons. So I would imagine it happens and they instantly have the credibility that a captain should have and deserves when they walk into that room and they're talking and like there's it's a lot of leadership there. The one thing new Like I filled in for a game uh for you last year when you guys were at the Super Bowl and I was between the benches and it was my first time doing a Sens game between the benches. It was noticeable how vocal Thomas Shabbat is. Like that was the my my biggest takeaway right away.
Like he's vocal in a positive way, like he's very active. I was I always was kind of impressed by him, but kind of seeing him that up close and personal, I was I was impressed. by kinda how he carries himself down there.
Yeah. He is a big personality, Frankie, and he's a funny guy. I don't know if you've ever uh it's been pointed out a lot on SportsCenter and that. When he goes back and stops the like a goalie stops the puck behind the net and he goes back to get it, he always says thank you. You can hear it on the mics. Like he'll like say thank you, like he's very vocal on the ice. But it's uh I just don't know if he's would he be a guy that's gonna be there for the next eight eight to ten years. Like that's why I always lean Sanderson or Stutzler because they're younger. And maybe Travis Green's saying birth certificate, let's not forget Stutzla's from Germany.

But I don't think there's a bad choice there. But uh come back to what O's saying, it's get it get it done. And move forward and and put everything behind you and and and focus on trying to make the playoffs and do some damage in the playoffs. That's that's gotta be what they focus
on. And honestly, like the the argument, like if you were gonna say, like, hey, there's a little bit of uh scar tissue with the American guy and Jake Sanderson, like not not everyone's built the same, not everyone thinks the same.

Like we just saw Chris Kreider choose the Montreal Canadians. Like in a world where we're always talking about American guys that want to play for like sunny destinations and tax havens and want to play in the the States. It was like I want to go play in Montreal, they got a winning program or a program that you feel like is gonna win with a coach that I want to play for. Like it's not one size fits all. You have to know your guys and your personalities when you're making that kind of decision.
Frankie, when we were talking about the leaves earlier I asked Hayes and Noodles and we kinda tossed it around about the expectations were for the team and the players versus what we thought their reality was gonna be as far as the maple leaves go this year, what do you think their expectation is and what do you ultimately think happens?
The expectation based on all the moves that happened to make the playoffs. And the reality is we just don't know. Like think of link think about a lot of the teams that you know really well in the NHL. They have a brand, they have an identity. You know when the Florida Panthers come to town exactly what they're gonna play like, what they look like, how they operate. Same with the Ottawa Senators. Like they they're gonna be a stingy defensive team. We don't know what Toronto's brand of hockey, we don't know what their identity is this year. This is a whole new thing. It's a refresh. So when they make as many moves as they made, on the ice and off the ice, scouting department, like all these different things.
The expectation is to be good right away and give yourself a chance to win.
