Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This hour of Overdrive is powered by FanDuel. FanDuel, bringing you everything from the opening line to the final score.
All right, here we go, Overdrive, off and running. TSN 1050 on the TSN app, your home smart speaker up on TSN 4 and TSN 5. Brian Hazy, O-Dog, Jeff O'Neill. Jonas Siegel in here.
What have you got against TSN 5?
I love TSN 5. I love it. But we generally have never been on TSN 5. It is a new development. As far as I know, this is a new year, new me. 2026, we're all over TSN 5. TSN 5 is his McDavid.
He never wants to give it the respect it deserves. Because the nonsense that I heard before the show, Jonas, you can attest to this. He exposed himself as a voter fraud. And what that means is no matter what McDavid or McKinnon does, if the San Jose Sharks get into the playoffs, Macklin Celebrini gets your vote.
Absolutely. Blindly. He could be injured the rest of the year.
But you understand, and I don't want to expose him.
We're joking around.
No, I know, but you said... The other two, they can do whatever they want. If they get in, he gets my vote. That is crazy.

Chapter 2: Who is Macklin Celebrini and why is he in the Hart Trophy conversation?
Doogie, are you the one that said voter fatigue? I think it was, Doogie. Yes, it was me.
And I said I would not do that.
Great job, Doogie. Yes. So you guys will blindly vote McDavid or McKinnon, which not... Blindly? Well, they're worthy of... Did you see the goal? Using the word blindly is stupid. Hold on. All right. Obviously, those two guys are putting together remarkable campaigns. There's no disputing it. Of course, they're in contention. Only one guy can get it.
The goal he scored, Celebrini, to tie it last night. And set up the winner. And the winner, dude, that was like a Lemieux-Gretzky type fake. Sure.
With a forward back there.
Yes, but still, it's three on three. I get it. But you see him fake. That's the kind of thing you see in practice. Mm-hmm. This kid is feeling it, and that was a big win against a divisional rival. They're in the race not just to make the wild card. The Pacific is brutal. I shouldn't say that. That's strong. Not all of it. Edmonton, Vegas, they haven't been great.
Vegas, all they do is get loser points. That's why they're in the position they're in. They got a chance to make a little bit of noise. And that's all I'm saying. If San Jose gets in, he ends up with like 125 points, and he beats anybody else by like 60 on his team. If you guys put him third, that's voter fraud. He's got to be third. That's voter fraud. You would put him ahead.
Yeah, but what if the other two monsters have 160 points each?
Okay, then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I don't believe they will. I don't believe they will. They are clearly the two best players in the league.

Chapter 3: What are Jerry Jones' aspirations for the Dallas Cowboys?
But he's amazing on the power play.
How much stake do you put in that? That's what bugs me about all this stuff. Why can't you just look at him and say he's the best player? I'm saying that. He is the best player. You nerds, and you're one too, you start deep diving into these dumb things. Can't you just use the eye test and say he's the best player?
He's the best player. I have said that. I voted him number one on the TSN Top 50 list every single year. He's the best player. I'm not sitting here saying he's not the best player. You're just tired of him. No. What you guys are losing sight of is that there is a narrative that gets baked into the vote. Yours is a narrative of what you're doing. But it's not. It's not like...
Celebrini is third in points. I know. And he plays for San Jose. Third and five on five points. Exactly. And the Sharks are... They have been the worst team in the league for the last three or four years. Like, absolutely horrendous. And... He is basically single-handedly dragging them to the playoffs right now. That is worth something. Obviously, McKinnon is a beast.
Look what you just said about his teammate, though. Undisputed best defenseman in the league. That's who he gets to play with. You know who is the undisputed best second-line center in the league? Leon Drysaddle. Who the hell is Celebrini playing with? Will Smith? Good player. Really good player. Who's your boy in defense? John Klingberg, your guy? He's passing pucks to John Klingberg.
And Timmy Lills. And Timothy Lilligren. And, you know, it's just, again, like this is, and you mentioned it, Cooper, probably the best coach in the league. He doesn't win it every single year. I don't think he's ever won it. Which, again, is crazy. Ridiculous. Obviously should. But this is, the point is, narratives drive it. Who's the new guy? Wow, I didn't see this coming.
Everyone knew McKinnon and McDavid would be great. Everyone knew they'd be great. I didn't know Celebrini would be this great. I didn't know the Sharks could be in contention to make the playoffs.
You're kind of arguing against yourself, though, aren't you?
How so?

Chapter 4: What happened with Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer during the game?
1.5, I'm under. Over. I like your Celebrini case if the Sharks make the playoffs. That's my point, though. My whole thing was if he drags them in, 130 points, he's got 60 more points than anyone else on his team. The narrative is right there. Jonas would put McDavid on the ballot and McKinnon.
If he's within, like, I don't think he has to win the scoring race. He's not going to. If he's within, he's got to be within like five points or something.
I think it's like 15. Okay. I think 15 points.
Go look at Taylor Hall. McDavid is too good. McKinnon's too good. Sorry.
Yes, they're great players. They're great players. And when Taylor Hall won and Corey Perry won, guess who was playing? Crosby and Ovechkin. McDavid. Yeah, why didn't they win that year? I don't know. They were so much better.
Yeah.
I didn't vote. Why didn't McDavid win it last year? He was still the best player, wasn't he? In the year before that.
Yeah, I can't explain.
You don't win it every single year. It's tough to win a heart. Only one gets announced. Like, that was my point. It's not that he won't be nominated ever again. It's very difficult to win.

Chapter 5: How is the performance of the Senators and Jets impacting the NHL?
Northern star. The northern star.
Northern star. So you're talking not only heart northern star.
I'm going a step above. The heart and the northern star. The heart and the northern star. Jonas, go ahead. You print out a ballot. This guy is in on 50% of their offense, and they make the playoffs. Nope. Sorry. You stink. McDavid, McKinnon are ahead of you.
By the way, how many points did McDavid have the year that Taylor Hall won the Hart Trophy? I don't know. I think he has three. Let's see.
That was another thing. Three. Again, with my previous takes. Sid, I think, has two hearts. Ovi has three. Lemieux, I think, has three. Like, it's just history would indicate you don't get to four, five, six hearts. Only Gretzky does that. Eight. Yeah. And like seven of them in a row or something like that. That doesn't mean you're right, right? Well, I may not be.
And if I'm not, we'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I think Jeff and I recognize that this is unbelievable stuff.
Yes, he's a great player.
He's the best player having an amazing year. He is the MVP.

Chapter 6: What insights did James Duthie share about covering the World Juniors?
A rocky road coming down. A sweat. I hope he shouts you out when he collects the heart.
Just absolutely buries me. This guy doubted me.
Chew on this one.
Chew on it. Yeah, chew on that, you loser. And just walks off. That would be a mic drop. It's possible. Maybe. We'll see. A lot of time left. Celebrini, Kucherov, Drysaddle, Vasilevsky, your boy. A lot of time left. All right, Dregg's coming up in the next hour, and we're supposed to have professional golf today in Hawaii. They're supposed to be playing at Kapalua right now.
They're going to get rid of Hawaii. The whole thing's going to be gone.
Dude, I saw this new TaylorMade driver. I got to try this thing.
Yes, we'll talk about it. The QI4D just came out today. Dregg's coming up in the next hour. Pierre Lebrun, Overdrive continues. TSN 1050 and on the TSN app.
