Chapter 1: What are the hosts' initial thoughts on The Traitors Season 4?
you
Welcome to Pod Meets Twirl, the podcast from two guys who had never seen an episode of Dancing with the Stars, but took it on and walked away experts. So now we turn to Traitors, another show I've never seen, while Will is convinced that he could win it. We are Will Friedle and Ryder Strong, two best friends, one a TV expert, one a TV skeptic, both dance scholars.
Join us as we step into a castle full of lies, alliances, and over-the-top wardrobe choices. This is Pod Meets Twirled, Trading Places. Yes. Cue the hood. Yeah. So are we just going to always have a video clip of you in the hood to start us off?
I was just thinking the same thing. I was like, if they don't use it every week, I'm just in the hood for myself. I'm just going to always be doing my intro. It's just me in a hood for no reason.
Maybe you should just spontaneously wear it halfway through an episode. That's a good idea.
I'm going to start dressing more and more like Alan Cumming because he's fabulous every week.
He dyes his hair different colors.
Yeah.
Can you like wash that out that easily?

Chapter 2: How do the hosts feel about Lisa Rinna's performance?
Okay, so I did frosted tips. I did frosted tips.
Yeah, I did it when I did the movie Buck Naked Arson, I got frosted tips because my brother was in it and we wanted to make sure we looked different. So I wanted to have like lighter hair. And that's it. That's like the only real dye.
I did the same. I did frosted tips in the 90s and then I did kind of a reddish orange for H-double hockey sticks.
Right. That's right.
Yeah.
I remember that. Yeah. They wanted, like, I wanted to like bleach my hair at one point when I was like 10, I wanted to like bleach the top of my hair. Cause I think there was like a really cool kid on my soccer team who had like that, like swoop.
Soccer team. Oh my God. I imagine the hippie soccer team must've been interesting.
You know, soccer's big up in, up in Sebastopol.
I'm sure it is.

Chapter 3: What challenges do the contestants face in this episode?
Okay. Here we are. Finally, we can cover an episode without knowing what the next episode is going to be. Just taking one at a time. Yeah. Because a lot happens in one episode on this show. Yeah. And when you get into it, when we did four for our first recording session- It was a lot. It was too much, man.
I agree.
I think that this show is so much better in little doses. Why do you think they did that? Why do you think they released four in a row?
I don't- My guess is probably-
it's something along the lines of we still don't know what all the streaming numbers are right so my guess is you take what has to be one of their biggest shows and you flood it because you want people to buy peacock or download peacock because they want to get traders and so my guess is that's why they do it why they do four and then three and then one or whatever they did three and then two and then one that i don't understand that doesn't make any sense it's like okay front load it do three but then do one after that right um but no i my answer to that is i do not
No.
Okay. Well, at breakfast, we learn no one was murdered.
But we also learn plenty of salmon. The first thing that she said. First shot.
First shot of the show. Okay. So. They have to be developing a storyline here. Something is going to happen in like the closing twist of it because you would never leave all this in just as like a weird like joke, right? It's either like an editor just having the funnest time in the world or somebody's going to like turn on somebody because they ate all the salmon.

Chapter 4: How does the salmon storyline develop in the competition?
You know, somebody did say that to me once. Like, I did something and I was like, maybe I shouldn't have done that. Or, I don't know, I was like, trying to be humble. And they were like, no, you're right or f***ing strong. And I remember being like, what a cool way to live.
I wish I could never do that. I wish I had that self-aggrandizing kind of amazingness. Or just the confidence to be like, you know. He's a fucking renter.
At least in your own head. I wouldn't say it out loud. Yeah, maybe that's it. Because, I mean, come on, you probably, I mean, I know you're going to say because of the panic attacks and the anxiety, but I know you were a super confident guy when you were a teenager on Boy Meets World before anxiety creeped in.
Maybe a year, for like a year or two, maybe. Not right at the beginning and not at the end.
You've got to have so much confidence in yourself. to be that funny and to go that far in jokes.
And I feel like- I was definitely comedically confident, but then I'd go home and just sit by myself in the dark. But you know that's true.
I never left my house. Even early on? No, not really. I feel like in conversations, I could see a track in your head going, yeah, I'm will f***ing for that.
Yeah.
In a good way. I'm saying this is a compliment.

Chapter 5: What strategies do contestants use to avoid being voted out?
Yeah, I mean, it's just... It's... Strange because it seems like her and I'm not trying to come at her personally. I don't know her, but it seems like her acting should be better than it is. And it may be it's and here's the other thing. I'm sure there is a something psychological, some kind of name for it where we think we know that she's lying because we in fact know.
that she's lying does that make sense like no i know she's not telling the truth so we could be like she's bad i know she's not telling the truth but it's actually it's not even the performance because the performance i agree like but and that's i it's hard to know because i right i think i trust everybody all the time like i'm not good at spotting liars so i just assume that i you know so it's not really the bad like bad performance it's like she literally says nothing she's just like no right
I'm not a traitor. You're a traitor. I'm a faithful. I'm a faithful. And it's like, just add a little bit more. Just like, yeah, I'm trying to play it cool because blah, blah, blah. Or I came in and instead she just yells and says, no, I'm not. And it's like, give a little something. And, you know.
Yeah. If you literally, if you're self-aware enough to say something like, look, I'm one of the housewives. I'm on a show where we just yell at each other all the time. This is a game. I figured I'd come in and try to actually play the game and quiet down and listen. That would be an argument. That would be an argument, right? I mean, that makes more sense than just going, no, I'm a fake.
Well, the one little move she does at breakfast is she says she's going to housewife it up. And so she asks for wine and champagne. And I was like, oh, she's going to, she's going to play big. But then she didn't really stick with it for the rest of the episode. I know.
You know, until she was yelling. The ridiculous bowl of peeled eggs that they're passing around. Yeah. It was like a salad bowl filled with hard-boiled eggs that had already been shelled. Very strange giant bowl of eggs.
Yeah. So it's a show about eggs and salmon.
It is to me. It's eggs and salmon. Then they asked for toast at one point, and it was all the toast points. All right.
So after breakfast, the players discuss strategy, and everyone's still on Ron. Everyone's still on Ron, except for Colton, who is dead set on Lisa. Yeah. And I was just like, we talked about this a lot last time.

Chapter 6: How do the hosts analyze the dynamics between contestants?
As like a fan of horror. As the star of a movie called Cabin Fever. This is like my jam. Yep. And it was so fun. Like I thought the, all the special effects and like little, you know, like, I don't know. When I first went in, I was like, what is this? Just some set decoration. Right. But then they actually had like set pieces and like special effects and like hands coming out of graves.
This was cool, man. I've never done an escape room.
Is it this kind of like this? Like you sit in a room and stuff happens? Yeah, but not this good.
But yes, like that. I mean, I love escape rooms. I've done them all the time. Try one. Oh, dude, they're so fun. And there's so many different types of like, you know, some of them are like, I've done ones where you're trying to break into something like you're a heist robbing a bank.
I've done ones where you're at like an archaeological dig that discovered aliens and you've got to like, or you're going to the crew that ahead of you that disappeared. So you've got to like piece together what happened to them to get out.
Out of the dick.
Yeah, dude. And like the production design is usually pretty good. Like, you know, there's usually, it's, and you get to touch everything and you're like looking through drawers. And I did one on the Queen Mary when we were there a couple weeks ago.
Yeah, I got you.
And you're in the Queen Mary. You're like, and you, yeah, it was really fun, man.

Chapter 7: What was the outcome of the round table discussion?
It just meant that you wouldn't get murdered. Right. So I was a little confused by both things. I was a little confused by Natalie making the pronouncement, which I think is smart. That's actually the way to play. But I wonder if she thought that if anybody took a shield that they would... I was wondering if she thought that as long as they don't take a shield, nobody would get murdered.
No, because I think she didn't say that. Like, you won't get killed. She just said anybody who takes a shield will banish you. Because if I was Ron, I mean, Ron wasn't going to get murdered. He knew he wasn't going to get murdered because he was going to be kicked out. So the traitors are kind of like, why do I need to murder you? So a shield probably wouldn't have helped him anyway.
So you wonder who that... I mean, Colton is probably somebody who's like, hey, man, I've swung and missed twice now. I could use a shield. Yes, they're after me. Because they might murder me or something. So who knows?
Yeah, I mean, if he... Colton actually should have gotten a shield and then just gone for Lisa big time. Because that's kind of his strategy already. He's like, look... I'm going to out her, but I'm going to come at her as hard as I can. So why do you think Jam Jam wanted one so bad? He's just scared all the time. Yes.
Cause he's like, he like cried when they burned his effigy, his shield, his effigy. It's like, dude, like, and nobody's really said his name, right?
Nobody at all.
Early on. He was, he was on the chopping block, but not now.
Michael was calling him out.
Yeah. Why do you think you need a,

Chapter 8: What cliffhanger does this episode leave for the next?
A Ouija board spelling out things, blood dripping down the walls. Dripping down the walls. That was really cool. And the way it was like underlined.
Yeah.
And they were quick with that one. They were like, master of none, Jack. And then the letters, so cool.
That was Rob.
That was Rob.
Rob is solving all these things quickly.
He's really smart. He's a really smart dude.
Yeah.
Um, luckily Maura tells Jam Jam, I don't think you should take a shield. I don't, I don't think. And then real bugs pouring out of a chest. That was creepy, dude. There's like maggots and stuff.
