Uh and it is just about the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9-11, but I've been buried twelve hours a day for the last few weeks trying to get this next history episode done for my podcast and I'm almost there. So I'm in a good mood.

Yeah, well You wanna hear a funny story? Let's go. Let's go. I uh So I got this old friend of mine. And uh from junior high school, we were best friend, uh skateboard friends together and stuff. And uh the last time I talked to him, I think must have probably been in February of 2003. That's the way I remember it. And already at that time we hadn't seen each other in a few years, but we would still talk on the phone every once in a while and made sure to stay friends with each other and stuff. But I hadn't spoken to him in a little while. I talked to him again, and now his hippie dippy flower sundress older sister is dating a guy in the army, and she's joined the army.
And so has my friend. And he's all excited he's about to ship off to Iraq. And I can't believe it because I'm anti-government new world order conspiracy kook fucking boy. So of course, I try to talk him out of going with like Connelly Zerice is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations or some stupid crap, you know? That was completely beside the point at the time. No, see, it must have been earlier. It must have been earlier it must have been like in late O two.
I mean, maybe some of the very top tier deniable guys weren't named, but I don't have any reason to believe that. But anyway, um so his name was never on there, so that was good. And I I even got the idea to ask Grok and Grok couldn't find the guy. But then I got smart and I remembered that I remembered his birthday. And I started remembering things about his family. And so I started putting all this into the chat GPT on super smart mode. And it found my guy. And then it laughed at me in chat GPT laughter type sort of a way and said, Geez, you're uh your um statement here that this guy was in the army is quite an understatement. It turns out that he's a sergeant major in the special forces. and was promoted to that in I guess I won't say which year, uh just like I won't say his name here, of course, uh, 'cause I got no call to.
But then I have two friends that are Green Brace. And um maybe more, actually. Actually I do have at least three friends who are green berries. Anyway. So one of them is Joe Kent. So I emailed Joe Kent. And I said, Hey Joe Kent, did you have a friend in the special forces named this? And he wrote me back right away, definitely great guy, brave warrior and and devout Christian and and wonderful guy. And he sends me pictures of my boy out there. And uh so then I'm just tripping out 'cause like it's great to know that he's doing great and has done great all this time and whatever, but then I think it's a total trip of like what a yin yang story that is, where like he's him and I'm me this whole time, sorta.
I thought like immediately of like a husband and wife that vote Republican and Democrat and it makes each other out.
Or something like that. Like the well-known skater punk to Green Beret pipeline. You know, uh America's special operations forces really couldn't survive without it. So
Yeah, I'm sure that that's true. Um, and same for anti war libertarianism too, man. There's a few of us. Um But anyway, so uh I don't know. I asked Joe if he thought maybe he could put us in touch or something, but I he didn't I didn't hear back after that.
