This game, if this is like, there's a million different examples we can use from this game as to why it was just absolutely crazy. Ridiculousness meter, as we're saying. This game was tied up on five separate occasions at 5-5, at 7-7. at 9-9, at 10-10, at 11-11. Especially a game where the Sox were up and it felt like we were going in a good direction with Luis Castillo.
Retiring the first seven batters he faced and then he gives up the two-run bomb to Connor Wong. The two-run single to Anthony Siegler as well. You got some Oscar Brazabon, the good and bad of him in this. But this one, nonstop 13 innings, it's a 10 for me. As far as the Cubs is concerned, I got to go a little lower, but it was pretty entertaining too. I would go, that's an 8 on the ridiculous meter. PCA scoring the game-winning run. We didn't even mention this, but... The Carson Kelly-ness of the Cubs game was its own ridiculous meter. Because after the run, PCA scores the game-winning run. On the play prior in the 11th, with Carson Kelly on second, PCA singles. PCA with a game-winning hit! No. It turns out to be Kelly out at the plate.

The most ridiculous part of this is you had the storybook comeback of Chase Mytroth, former Red Sox farmhand who came over in, of course, the big deal. And he gives you not one, but two dramatic go-ahead two-run homers.

The Cubs do this all the time. They've got 11 walk-offs on the season. They lead all of baseball. I wasn't shocked that they walked off the team that they were facing in the Blue Jays. The way it ended, Pete Crow Armstrong, speed kills. The most ridiculous thing, though, about this game is that Alex Bregman found a way down to the Cubs' last strike to hit a game-tying two-run homer in a game in which Dylan Cease had been phenomenal. Seven innings of shutout ball, three base runners reached while he struck out 10.
The ridiculous part is They had to, like, turn it over to someone else. Because if he could have, he would have stayed in, gotten his second complete game shutout of the year. And the Cubs had no answers for him. But Alex Bregman taking Louis Varlin deep for just the second time this year. Only the second home run he's given up all season. That was ridiculous. But still, the Cubs walk people off all the time.
